Shouldn't be moaning as its Summer but even in shade i can't tolerate it...used to be a sun worshipper in the 70s now i hide in cool house☀️

Just spent the last 4 days in a storage unit emptying it - 42 degrees, no air conditioning ??

It's glorious! And think of all that lovely Vitamin D you're getting!

Shropshirelass Mon 19-Jul-21 12:40:27

I can’t stand it either. Far too hot, it was lovely at 6:30/7:00 this morning, shame it couldn’t stay like that!

Teacheranne Mon 19-Jul-21 12:41:59

At last, it’s summer and not raining! I have got nothing to do for a few days ( still waiting for my social life to get back to pre pandemic levels) so am able to lounge around keeping cool. So far I have been lying on my bed with the fan on, north facing room with a slight breeze but must try to motivate myself to empty the dishwasher and tidy up - cleaner due tomorrow so need a tidy house to let her get on with cleaning! I’m planning on sitting under my patio awning this afternoon doing some crochet and puzzles, no need to cook as got cold chicken and salad in fridge and will leave watering patio pots until late evening.

Bliss!

Love to hear all you responsible grans with your dogs. I feel like screaming at folk walking theirs at 3pm in the boiling sun, the pavements are so hot for their paws. Idiots.

MissAdventure Mon 19-Jul-21 13:00:02

It's foul. sad
I find the intensity really unsettling, and that's apart from sweating, swollen feet, sore eyes, and rash skin.

polly123 Mon 19-Jul-21 13:00:35

Where I live it is horribly humid. I hate the intense heat because it slows me down and I can't lie around waiting for it to go let alone go to sleep. Fed up brow mopping and feeling lethargic. Roll on Autumn! But do realise that some people love being in the sun, I'm just not one of them.

I shall be staying on my sofa with the pedestal fan positioned to blow on me until the temperature falls. Just glad I don't have many places to be at the moment!

Chewbacca Mon 19-Jul-21 13:27:05

Just been out to my greenhouse and, even with the door and window open, it's 41 degrees in there. I didn't hang around....

EEJit Mon 19-Jul-21 13:33:43

Sorry but I have no sympathy.

We have to put up with the cold and rain a lot more than we do heat and sunshine.

Hilarybee Mon 19-Jul-21 13:35:06

I plan to wear as many of my summer/holiday clothes as I possibly can?

Deamondseed Mon 19-Jul-21 13:37:15

I’m too fat to get into any of mine.
I’ve got plenty of winter fleeces that fit though.

Blame lockdown.
A good excuse to order a brand new summer wardrobe (online of course!).

I don't think anyone is looking for sympathy.
Personally, I plan to moan for every single hot day. smile
Lack of sympathy or not.

nipsmum Mon 19-Jul-21 13:53:58

Don't moan about the heat, we get little enough of it in Britain. People are falling over themselves to go to a warmer climate for their holidays, we have had 3 warm days and people are moaning.

MissAdventure Mon 19-Jul-21 13:55:20

It's fine to moan.
Legal and allowed.
Just because some like it, doesn't mean everyone should.

Cabbie21 Mon 19-Jul-21 14:02:55

We have a cooling fan in one room, but the rest of the house is too hot and humid. I am being very lazy, sitting around doing not a lot.

MissAdventure Mon 19-Jul-21 14:10:43

I get full sun in each room for the majority of the day.
My living room has a huge window, so it's awful when it's magnified.
I might spontaneously combust here!

Glenfinnan Mon 19-Jul-21 14:15:37

I used to love it….but these days I find I can’t cope with the heat!

sharon103 Mon 19-Jul-21 14:18:43

As my auntie used to say in the hot weather. I feel like a bit of chewed string. All wet and limp.
I used to be able to sit out in this weather all day when I was younger. I can't stand it now. There's no air.
I've been out these last couple of evenings watering the garden and weeding. I've been bitten to death and itching like mad.
I look forward to the end of the week when it's supposed to be cooler. Until then, I'll be lazy.

We held our Spanish conversation group in the shade in the park 1100 a.m, to 12.30 p.m. It was lovely!

silverlining48 Mon 19-Jul-21 15:46:48

Bet it felt like you were in Spain Gill.

Well "Aa'm swettin - ask me mate" which is one of Dad's stories from the old days when he used to go to town dances.
While in town this pm womenof all ages were wearing very pretty dresses or shorts and mini-tops. But there will be some sore shoulders when it cools down.
The comment about the seaside is right -it feels cooler but the sun reflects off the sea.
