Good morning from a warm, sunny Colchester. The weekend heat knocked me for six even though I did very little. I'm glad I've nothing much on the agenda for "freedom day".
First load in the machine and a trip to the supermarket, otherwise relaxing in the slightly cooler weather.
Love to all x

Good Morning Monday
(57 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Th start of another hot and balmy day here in Brackley this morning , on the bottom left of my screen its saying its 17C and sunny at the moment here.
Today , an easy day in housework needs to be done after 3 weeks of Tour De France on TV .
At least Cav was the only other individual jersey winner ,as the race winner took mountain and youth competitions.
Easy week , build up to early morning watching Olympics from next Saturday .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from a hot South Welsh coast. A good time was had in the garden yesterday afternoon, a BBQ and a water pistol chase around the lawn. I shall long remember our five year old squirting water at our little spaniel who was trying to catch the water to drink.
On BBC news this morning there is a report about a spaniel rescued by our RNLI after five hours in the sea, he seemed fine thank goodness.
No dolphin sightings yesterday Nannagarra but will keep looking, perhaps they fancied a trip around the Gower coast ?
Enjoy your boat trip corner, very envious.
I will concentrate on keeping cool today.
Have a pleasant day everyone.
Good Morning .
Yesterday’s birthday celebration was lovely with a cake made ( with assistance) and decorated by 5 year old DGS. He also made up a treasure hunt for me. He was so excited and helped me solve the clues.
More washing on this morning, admin jobs and other bits and bobs. The garden needs attention after nearly 3 weeks away. The grass has been cut but I think we will leave the rest till this evening when it is a bit cooler.
Wishing you all a good day with a smile along the way.
Good morning from an already very hot Cheshire.
Beautiful little boy Grandmafrench Where do the years go ! My four GC range in ages from 6 to 20. It seems only yesterday that my own two were born !
So hot last night in bedroom ?.Must close curtains today before early afternoon sun streams in.
Will come back and enjoy more posts later.
Happy 25th birthday wishes to your DGS Grandmafrench.
In this heat your planned boat trip corner and DH’s swim in a lido Gelisa are my idea of heaven.
Like you, NanKate, I’m prey to biting insects. Currently I’m sporting 6 hydrocolloid plasters below the knee on my left leg (seems to have been preferred!) and depleting stock at the local pharmacy.
Marydoll ?. NS’s approach is wiser imo, definitely showing some sense about mask wearing as you say. What do you suspect is afoot, having read the email?
Good morning all from a sunny Suffolk coast. We came up yesterday and will stay until the end of august (?).
The garden is like a wilderness but we will do a little at a time and DS1 arrives next week with family and he wants a list of jobs to do. He doesn’t like relaxing. ?.
Our nephew and his wife stayed here a couple of weeks ago and left us a basket full of goodies. They even painted our old wooden bench . They can come again ! ?.
Lots of craft on the sea yesterday. Paddle boarders, canoeists, water skiing , even a motor powered paddle board. Lovely to watch. Our beach isn’t a busy one, so it’s quite unusual to see all this activity here.
Dh wants to go to an auction place this morning. It also has a small market and a chap who sells second hand tools. Dh likes to browse. I dont think we’ll go into the auction rooms as it gets very busy . It’s a real old country do with farmers and the like. Although it’s only an hour and a half from Essex, the Suffolk accent is so strong. Difficult to understand at times, but so lovely to hear.
Well folks, enjoy your days and don’t get overheated. ?
Good Morning from Severnside. It’s another warm start so I am outside to have my breakfast. I’ll eate it first then go back and read all your posts. Something to look forward to ?
I spent most of the day yesterday outside reading. I finished off two books. Although I wasn’t sat directly in the sun I have some Pink patches.
Ironing to be done this morning before the sun comes around to the room I do it in then fingers crossed I will catch up with my sister in law this afternoon for a chat.
Have a good day all ?
Good morning all. Polmont is cloudy today. It's slightly cooler than yesterday at this time. Grandmafrench Happy Birthday to your lovely grandson. Marydoll ?.
Yesterday I was in mother earth mode. I made a huge batch of ratatouille and made stock from the chicken I roasted. Both are now in the freezer. Yesterday seemed to go by very quickly.
Today is babysitting. We'll hang about the house and garden today. I bought skittles for the boy wonder to try out. That, and all the other toys in "grandma's gardy" should keep him busy! Chicken salad for tea. Have a good day all.
Good morning and another lovely day.
I’ve been struggling with the heat but shouldn’t complain! Yesterday we went strawberry picking with ds and family. I decided I was going to sit in the shade under the gazebo they have set up as shelter and refreshment area. Pregnant DIL sensibly joined me. It was funny when dgs ran up to find us informing us there were loads of strawberries here with evidence of it around his mouth ?? after refreshments I decided I would pick some redcurrants. Sadly the raspberries I would have liked had all been picked now. I think today will involve jam making.
Not a lot else planned for today. Just pottering I think and a nice easy meal leftover chicken in the menu I’m thinking.
Freedom day eh? Brings to mind ripping of my clothes and running in the garden or is that just me ??
Take care all and stay safe,
Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea. Our local beach was very busy yesterday and probably will be again today as the schools around here have broken up.
I have a few jobs to do indoors and then will probably go for a walk by the sea where there is usually a cooling breeze.
Enjoy a sunny Monday everyone xx
Good morning all from another warm day in Portugal. I seem to have slept well and got myself organised enough to check in. I wish I could say that DH was watering all the plants but at the moment he is still fast asleep. Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all from a warm and sunny North Leicestershire.
DD3 and co are calling in today - lucky me!! DH is doing his volunteer driving so I will have them all to myself.
Enjoy your days everyone!
Good morning all from a warm Glasgow, we are supposed to be in for a scorcher today.
DH is golfing, but I hope they have the sense to come of off if they are struggling in the heat.
DH had fall on the course on Friday and I don't think he should be playing at all. ☹, but he is so stubborn. I have refrained from posting the latest saga on the arrival of his our new TV, probably entertaining to read for some, but certainly not for those of us involved in the drama! ?
Kate, I too worry about the effects of Freedom Day. At least the Scottish Government have shown some sense, by making mask wearing still mandatory here.
I take part in Scottish Government research on my experience of shielding. An email I received on Friday, has me wondering if something is afoot! We are certainly not out of the woods yet.
Corner, I hope your boat trip goes well. Wishing everyone else the best of days and sending hugs to those, who are struggling.
A gentle day lies a head for me. There is much to do in the garden, however, the spirit is willing, but the body just won't oblige! ?
I made such a mess of my injection last week, that my leg is still purple from knee to hip. I'm rather apprehensive about today's. ☹
Good morning from sizzling Sefton.
Yesterday we pottered in the garden, content to be hemmed in by thousands of visitors who arrived in the area. The temperature in the shade was 29C.
Prompted by a post on FB, there is much talk of yarn bombing amongst my friends. One is already pimping a child’s bike; the rest of us prefer much smaller projects. Atm I’m working on a miniature flamingo, having been inspired by gardener44 on this thread last week.
Apart from collecting (whilst masked) an online order from JL, I’m aiming for a quiet and peaceful day.
Thinking of those with troubles and those who are missing. Sending a smile and a wave to everyone.
? ? ?? ???
Good morning from a sunny Black country.
Washing on now to water the garden.
Trip to local shops have some banking to do, then home find some shade and do the ironing.
Will catch up with everybody's news later my tablet needs charging.
Enjoy Freedom day ( I will still be wearing my mask?) and may you all find some ?.
Morning Mick and all
Blue sky and very warm here on S E Essex already, I have to catch up with jobs that o have ignored over the weekend !
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a clear blue sky and another hot day forecast. Yesterday was spent doing the usual washing after our holidays and catching up with the gardening. The ground is so dry and dusty right now that it was hard going, we’ve not had rain for ages, so very unusual here!
This morning we’re looking after the DGC but they’ve both got sports activities planned so it’s just the ferrying about that needs doing but they’re both at different venues. Then we’ll all be meeting up and enjoying a picnic lunch probably by the River Ness in town.
I hope you have a great holiday in Shetland Gelisa, how lucky are you! Have a safe journey and I hope the crossing is smooth.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today, a random flamingo or two and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning on another hot one in mid Devon. I’ll be glad to be back on the coast for cooling breezes when I return to Torbay today.
What super photos we saw on here yesterday of various places! Thank you all for sharing. Last night’s sunset had some clouds to add interest.
Enjoy your day whatever it brings and I hope those who have worries about loved ones find some relief. Happy birthday to the (now grown up!) cute GS, Grandmafrench! ?
Good morning Mick and All from an increasingly hot New Forest.
We had a lovely time at Exbury Gardens yesterday but I made the mistake of lying down on the picnic blanket after our sandwich lunch and I have 4 nasty itchy insect bites. They just love me those pesky insects. I have used anthisan, wasp-ease, ice pack but I am still itching. May have to resort to taking an antihistamine tablet which knock me out!
Lovely photo of your grandson GrandmaFrench.
It doesn’t feel like Freedom Day to me. We will still be wearing our masks. Sadly I foresee another Lockdown in The Autumn ?
An earlyish good morning from a warm cloudy Stonehaven where we have just done the requisite lateral flow test for the ferry which we will get later.
DH has a swim booked in the open air lido. Not me! I got an ear infection after the cold wind blew on my wet ear the only time I went in. We arrived in Shetland and I was totally deaf and disoriented for most of the holiday.
Then it’s off to Aberdeen where we will mooch round Old Aberdeen before sailing. I also need to find a little gift to take to our friends in whose Croft we will be staying.
Take care everyone and stay safe?
Thank you Grandmafrench hug returned as I’m not ‘glowing’ yet…
Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny, calm corner of Somerset.
Yesterday went as planned with the addition of a couple of phone calls. My visit to our neighbour left me feeling sad. She is so physically frail now, still robust in spirit, amazingly cheerful and pragmatic. She wanted to know if we would be at her funeral and wake, not in a depressed way, more something ticked from a list she can now let go of.
We’re off out early today for a boat trip. Looking forward to being there, less so when I think about the motorway first.
Take care everyone, stay safe in the sun. Hope Monday is kind to us all.
