Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking the start of another hot sunny day here in Brackley this morning.
Myself ,apart from some housework ,am tempted to g to bicester on the bus purely for a break, but the heat will be the enemy.
If I go will take water with me ,and maybe buy more if need be assume the stocks have not been run down due to the heat.
Take Care,
Mick

I won't pretend it's morning. Hello everyone. Made a decision not to go on line in the mornings (will have to make five minute exception) so hence no greeting. Had lovely visit from friend. Have not seen for months. Sat in the garden and drank coffee. Ordered my books which should arrive mostly tomorrow and the remainder in a few days. Cleaned bathroom (sitting down) and washed all my fabric bags . Found umpteen hand gels ,paper tissues, masks ,loose coins. Quite a trawl. Keep safe and cool everyone.

grandMattie your garden looks a treat!!
Ashcombe can't remember when I last saw a chaffinch?

Auntieflo Tue 20-Jul-21 11:26:46

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all. Is it a good idea to go on a bus in this heat Mick? Anyway, take care and as you say take extra water with you.
I am tuckered out already, and haven't done much at all. Sweat dripping off my nose. There is a small wash whirring away, and I have just made a coffee. At lunch time, I am off to get my 4 weekly infusion and the next lot of Chemo tablets.
We did sleep a bit better , with the fan on all night, again.
GrandMattie, your garden looks lovely. Mine has been overtaken by the dreaded bindweed, now that I can't do the stooping down, but a friend is coming on Thursday to see if she can tackle it. I just hope it is not scorching by the time she arrives.
A quiet afternoon later on, with a bit more Minion crocheting for GGS.
Best wishes to all those with problems,
.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning all from hot and sunny Lancashire. Hope you are all managing to keep cool and comfortable. May today bring some joy to us all ???

Borrheid55 Tue 20-Jul-21 10:54:45

Morning all from an already hot Ashford Kent. Having terrible trouble sleeping as the temp stays in the high teens overnight. I never complain about the heat when I am in Jerez, it truly is different in the UK. Finally got my perm yday at the third attempt. My hairdresser is 21 weeks pregnant- first week she didn’t come in, second week she became ill while putting in the rods but we made it ! I go to our Hair Academy so she is only in one day a week. As a trainer for 25 years, I am keen to support students. Extra benefit is that my perm cost £27, a nearby one charges £76! ( plus £14 to have a finishing blow dry!) Anyone worried about students , don’t be. Assessors are on hand all the time. Really pleased with the result. I’m going to knit a couple of baby cardis as a surprise.
Glad Marydoll you are asking to be accompanied to Lidl. I got DH to meet me there yday. I found going from the a/c in the store to the heat outside was quite debilitating. I had to sit down when i got home as I was sweaty, headachey and tuckered oot! A quiet day today, paper, puzzles and knitting!
Hope all have a good day

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny northwest Lancashire coast. Hope you enjoy your day Mick and even though hot, it’s good to have a break.
Out to lunch with old friend today, all booked and we will sit inside. He particularly hates eating outside even though he’s a bit of a sun worshipper and always out walking, keeping fit.
Once more, will make an effort, actually washed my hair and put out a lemon cotton off the shoulder dress. As I’m not keen on sunbathing now, a little fake tan on my arms. He’s a tremendous talker but I’m not feeling very energetic today to respond in kind. We’ll see.
Happy Birthday to the young Mr.J and well done GrandMattie.

Grandmajean Tue 20-Jul-21 10:12:59

Lovely pics GrandMattie and Ashcombe
Haven't read all posts yet . Always look forward to Grandmafrench posts which I haven't seen yet.
Been round to chemist for sun cream. We must have the worst stocked chemist in Cheshire ! One brand of sun cream. No hand cream, no children's hair bobbles etc etc.

Good morning from a warm and getting warmer, South Yorkshire.

Beautiful transformation to your front garden, grandMattie, you must be very pleased with how it looks.

I think the flowers and plants have all bloomed particularly well this year. Mine will get another water this evening when they will be in shade, apart from the tomatoes which I'll do after I've posted.

I've only skimmed the posts, so hope you are all ok. Take care, keep cool - and yes, mick, if you do venture to Bicester, make sure your water bottle is full.

Good Morning, Mick and everyone from a still hot and sunny Carlisle.
I've done the ironing already and probably won't exert myself in the housework department for the rest of the day. I've still got my storage shelving to put together, I got diverted by a little gardening yesterday though not for long as the sun was too fierce. I'm going to read my book and spend time at the computer researching and spending. I've got a holiday to re-think. The already once postponed trip to New Zealand and Australia in November will end up being postponed again I'm sure so I'm hoping I will be able to rebook for somewhere in Europe next spring. Two and a half years since I've visited DS2 and family in Sydney. They are thinking of coming over here at the end of next year probably minus GSs.
Happy Birthday to MrJ, only a young thing still!
You have a delightful little corner in your garden now grandMattie, it must be a pleasure to look at for you. Not much will get done in mine until the autumn when the nurseries will get new stock in.
Take care, everyone...I'm off to slap on the factor 50.

Good morning Mick and all morningsters. ???blue Cornish skies with a few clouds. So still though. Not a whisper of a breeze.

MrM and Phil will be ready for a drink soon. We need the fine weather for the build but this is the other extreme for them.

The check up will be fine Ali.
Happy birthday ? to MrJax.
Thinking fond and caring thoughts about Panache today. A big turning point for her. Glad she has those friends close by.

I await a call from DD. I had a text last night that she didn’t feel up to talking. She is too much like her mum, in bottling up stress, but I’ve just sent a long text and hope she rings me. I’m tempted to ring her but I know she won’t talk if in the office or if DGD is with her. She works from home 50:50

I’ll get back to reading more posts. There are about 30 more. ???

monk08 Tue 20-Jul-21 09:01:45

Happy birthday MrJax??

Morning Mick, morning All. A hot, sunny day forecast for our corner of Somerset with our share of the amber heat warning.

Our trip out yesterday was truly enjoyable. Sensible folk wearing masks where appropriate, a thoroughly enjoyable and cool boat trip, easy journey home. No plans to venture forth today, some laundry to oversee and some dust to remove will be it. Oh yes, I need to finish the grocery order, mustn’t forget that one.

I’m with gingster, can’t recall who said what so if it’s ok with her I’ll second her summary.

Take care everyone, stay cool if you can. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Morning from sunny S Lanarkshire. About to leave to pick up two youngest grandchildren (6 and 8) and head to Dunoon for a few days holiday with my sister and brother in law. Three adults to two children, we should be fine!

Probably no time to post, DGS is a very early riser and I’ll definitely do ‘the early shift’ so I’ll wish everyone a nice enjoyable week, remembering always those with extra challenges. ?*Granny Somerset* and others.

Grandmafrench Tue 20-Jul-21 08:53:42

Good Morning everyone from The Scorchio South where all is well, Granddadfrench just scootered in with a huge pot of Basil (the remains of ours has all frizzled up in the heat), some little brioches, a big bag of plums from a neighbour - and tales of successful parking on market day!

Good idea about the water, Mick - always be prepared. A hat woul be an excellent idea this weather too - if you’re not already wearing one! So glad about the hose, GrandmaB, you’ll do yourself a power of no good carrying water! I have to say that to myself if I’m tempted to more back pain - and the plants get a proper soaking with the hosepipe without that risk.

Happy Birthday, MrJ - enjoy a break in the sun and a rest from creating wonderful pathways and tiling for the nation! We all wish good things for you ??? on your special day.

Pleased you had a good crossing, Gelisa and hope that Keygate hasn’t messed with your holiday mood?! ?. All ended well - thankfully. I must try to remember to post a great car key story of my own in future. Think every family has at least one! Enjoy your little Croft reunion and have a lovely day.

All went well at the Vet yesterday. We were so pleased at the blood test results for Ludo - always a worry. Today, to continue with our plans for having fun in a pandemic, we’re off to the Dermatologist, for heavy scrutiny and possible ‘zapping’. She’s so nice but a bit like Zorro - with headlamps! She peers at my skin - every inch, whilst wearing a light on her forehead - and if there’s something that doesn’t please her, she zaps it with something. Sometimes I just feel like a fit of the giggles, especially if it’s not very comfortable. Just as well, DH is excluded in the current rules. He once went with our Son to help with our non-English speaking Dermatologist in Northern France. It was simply to fix something on the end of DS’s nose. The Doctor was always very serious. The shock of the treatment made DS gasp, apparently. She carried on regardless, tears rolled down DS’s face and he saw the funny side. He was shaking with silent laughter - not helped at seeing his (kind) Dad howling with silent mirth just behind the Doctor. They laughed all the way home. They still laugh about it now. I think the whole family is waiting for the day that DH needs a tiny bit of treatment on the end of his nose!!! ?

Have a super day, dear Morning folks. Keep safe and hope you get praise and a thumbs up this morning, Alizarin.

Nannytopsy Tue 20-Jul-21 08:52:03

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
It’s still quite fresh in Suffolk so I am out with the hose in a minute. I have two rolls of turf to lay to patch up a bald patch on the lawn. Your garden is looking good Grandmattie.
Good hope the day is kind to everyone.

Gingster Tue 20-Jul-21 08:32:29

Good morning from another hot day on the Suffolk coast. Yesterday was cooler here with a slight breeze.
We were so disappointed with our trip to the antique /market place. Hardly any stalls. Hardly any people! We’ve been going there for years and it’s always a friendly, interesting place to be. Hopefully it will return. ?

We walked in the forest yesterday with little pooch and will probably do the same today. She loves to swim here and chase her ball along the beach, but the sand and pebbles get too hot for her paws in this weather. ???.

Good luck with appointments.
Have fun with the GC
Enjoy outings, holidays and picnics.
Not too much sun
Healing thoughts to poorly grans.
AND
Have patience with wayward husbands (if only I could). ?

Sorry I can never remember who’s doing what. ?

Enjoy your days. ?

Lins1066 Tue 20-Jul-21 08:30:27

A very happy birthday to MrJ ?

Jaxjacky Tue 20-Jul-21 08:28:07

I think by marriage to a more mature person he might scrape in Nannagarra ??.

baubles Tue 20-Jul-21 08:26:39

Good morning all from beautiful Argyllshire where there’s a mist over the loch which will soon burn off.

I’m looking after the pooch and the toddler this morning whilst the others are going off on a boat trip to try to spot wildlife.

It has been a fabulous weekend but all good things.......DH and I will head home later this evening, DD and her gang will stay on till Saturday.

Photo of a glorious Scottish beach.

Best wishes to one and all, may today be a peaceful one.

Good morning all, we are still in Stirling but heading off later to the Lake District to break the journey home. We had a lovely day yesterday with DS1 and family, a picnic at Drummond Castle gardens, a visit to the Crieff visitor Centre, (and the Nutcracker Christmas displays, the girls were full of oohs and aahhs!) and then out for a meal in the evening at Brea restaurant where DS1 actually had a choice of dairy and gluten free options. We are now very broke, but it was worth it to see them all happy. This is the view from their living room!

Happy Birthday to MrJ Jax It is DHs birthday on Friday, will be a mad rush to prepare when we get back. Alizarin hope all is fine with the check up. Sar I hope the DGDs X-ray shows just a sprain and her holiday isn't ruined.

Still cool here in Stirling, but try to keep comfortable everyone.

Lins1066 Tue 20-Jul-21 08:23:41

Good morning from a hot S Welsh coast where an amber heat warning is in place until Thursday night. DD took the little dog for a walk at 6am, just forays into the garden for her for the rest of the day - the dog not DD. Our vet put a message on his Facebook page which says,
" Dogs don't die from not going for a walk, but they do die in hot cars "
A stark but timely warning.
Our mobile hairdresser is coming this morning.
Fresh fish for supper tonight.
I will ignore the ironing, it's too hot for that.
Stay cool and safe everyone.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 20-Jul-21 08:22:08

Good morning all from sunny ☀️ Harrogate !
Maybe do some quiet sewing this morning, this pm we are going to DGSs school concert. Hope he’s matured since his nursery nativity where he was King Herod. In the middle of the act he divested himself of his crown, sword and cloak and ran into the audience.
He has DS so his ideas are different from others.
Stay cool and safe in these uncertain times

Anniebach Tue 20-Jul-21 08:18:59

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Nannagarra Tue 20-Jul-21 08:08:07

Good morning from sunny Sefton.
Freedom Day seems to have made little difference here: many still wear masks, maintain social distance and use the sanitisers provided, I’m pleased - and relieved - to report.
Yesterday our visitors were mostly teenagers. It’s such a joy seeing them experiencing life as it should be. I wonder how many stayed overnight on the beach. (The helicopter was busy in the early hours.) Oh, to be young!
It’s lovely to hear all your news of trips out on the bus, holidays, Tai chi, GP duties and a garden revamp. Good luck with your check up Alizarin. I suspect you’re about to become the model of how to make progress and recover - an example to all. Happy birthday MrJ. Is he old enough to be an associate of GM?
? (I know there is no set age - it’s just me having fun.)
Whatever you’re doing today, it’s probably more than I intend to do! Enjoy!
???

Good morning from the Black country sunny again.
Will read through later, must get DH prescription then we are going to Lichfield fancy a walk through park then into the town. Have just seen a fox on neighbours garage roof along with 4 magpies.
Enjoy your day and may you all find ?
