Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking the start of another hot sunny day here in Brackley this morning.
Myself ,apart from some housework ,am tempted to g to bicester on the bus purely for a break, but the heat will be the enemy.
If I go will take water with me ,and maybe buy more if need be assume the stocks have not been run down due to the heat.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all to follow from a sticky south Cornwall. Two bus journeys to my 6 week post-op checkup soon and then a scurry back to my 'cave' till the sun abates. The best of days everyone, must fly do I don't miss my buses.

Good morning from north Surrey. Waking earlier and earlier in this heat.
Today will be a DGC day. This morning the DGDs are coming to stay whilst mummy gets her hair done. They haven’t been for here for a few months, I expect the eldest will be very excited.
School collection at 2 for DGSs, they finish for the summer holidays so I expect they will be excited too.
Gazebo is up for shade and will refill the paddling pool which I used to water the garden last night.
Don’t think I will get much else done, just go with the flow.
Wishing all a good day ☀️?

Good morning from a sticky E Kent. Relentless het again today.
Tai chi this morning, supermarket this afternoon. I need to pick lavender to make “bottles”, I’ve got some nice ribbon.
I found some scarlet broderie anglaise and am making Iris another trouser/crop top set before we visit.
Hope all GraMmingos have a good day. ???☀️??

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the sun has got his hat on. I am on Nanna duty today, I am taking my swimsuit so we can have some water play in the garden this afternoon. But first I have deliveries to make near to where DD lives so will take the children on a drive out for an hour.
I will have to go into work after my duties as we are strangely rather busy this week, which is great ?
I do hope you are all coping with the heat and managing to stay cool.

Good morning from Shetland waters where we are in our cabin approaching Lerwick after a lovely smooth crossing. It looks cloudy through the porthole.
The trip was not without incident however. We we in the cabin waiting for it to sail when my phone rang. It was DS3 who hardly ever phones me so I panicked! Thank fully he only wanted to know if how to connect jump leads in an attempt to start his car. As my words of wisdom fell on deaf ears I left him to phone the AA.
I then realised DH has secretly been having lessons from MrMarydoll
As I finished speaking to DS3, DH declared he couldn’t find the car keys which should have been in his pocket.
We ransacked the 3 bags we had with us (which contained more stuff than we would ever need for an overnight sailing) to no avail. Now DH was panicking. He found a security guard who said no keys had been handed in but he would check the floor when he went down to the car deck later. Eventually he got back to us empty handed but invited DH down to the car deck to look with him. Thankfully they were discovered on the parcel shelf.
When we eventually get off we shall wander round Lerwick and see what’s changed since last year, get some breakfast then head up the island to our friends little croft.
Take care and stay safe everyone.?

Good morning from a hot, sunny Torbay, but with a welcome fresher feeling than inland where there’s a weather warning for temperatures exceeding 30 degrees in places, including Dartmoor. I came home at the right time!

Good luck with your post op check up Alizarin. You’ve been active by the sound of it so that bodes well.

The photo of the chaffinch was sent by DH, olddudders, taken in his garden where many birds visit. They are much like British garden birds and even speak the same language! Sadly, bird food is expensive in France and it’s unlikely that I’d be permitted to take supplies across any more, with the new restrictions post Brexit.

The boat trip sounds wonderful, Gelisajams, despite the car key panic - easily done but horrid at the time.

It’s lovely to read of folk having more time with grandchildren with the approach of school holidays. Have the best of days whatever betides. ?????

Good morning from an already hot and sunny day in the Black Country

Arrived home from Weymouth yesterday afternoon. We really couldn't have hoped for better weather. Caravanners are all really friendly people, and we met and chatted to quite a few!

Up early to get the 3 loads of washing on and out drying!

Will drive over to Mums today, then go over to see 2 of my DGD's before they go on holiday on Friday.

Enjoy your holiday Gelisajams

Stay cool everyone

Good morning from a not yet sunny NE.
Another warm night but kept the fan going so it was bearable.
DS said the journey home on Sunday was slow because of the traffic, unfortunately they got caught up with Silverstone turning out.
Nothing planned for today and I think I will be giving housework a miss, way too sticky.

Sar53 Tue 20-Jul-21 06:54:56

Good morning from a partly cloudy Essex by the sea. No doubt it will be hot and sunny later. Luckily we get a breeze here on the coast.
DH left to go and work on his boat at 6, trying to get everything done before it gets too hot.
My 12 year old granddaughter ended up in A & E yesterday afternoon after falling in PE at school and damaging her wrist. It has been X rayed and put in a splint and the X rays will be examined today to see if there is a fracture. We are all hoping that it is only sprained as she breaks up tomorrow for the summer holidays and is due to go to surf school in about 10 days time.
I have finished a pile of ironing already this morning and have a few more chores to do before it gets too hot.
Enjoy the sun, drink lots, apply the suncream and stay in the shade as much as possible. Have a great day xxx

grandMattie Tue 20-Jul-21 07:02:14

I meant to put up the photos of my refurbished garden - before and after.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 20-Jul-21 07:06:20

Morning Mick and all

Oh dear Sar53 I hope your GD’s wrist isn’t broken.

We have The Imp here today, so no plans.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Good morning from a beautiful Vale of The White Horse, out with DDs dog at 5.45, just us and a few cyclists around going through the village, the green areas have all been mowed, the sheep have been sheared and it all looks very lovely, but it’s getting warmer now. Another day of not doing very much.
Hope all have a good day.

Jaxjacky Tue 20-Jul-21 07:09:43

Good morning all from a bright sunshine S Hants, MrJ’s birthday today, 59, a mere youngster! He’s off work for the day but we won’t be doing much in this heat, he may go to the driving range early on. I did little yesterday, early and late watering, then read my book.
Hope your checkup goes well Alizarin. Lots of GC activities on this thread today, ours are still at school, stay safe in the sun all of you whilst having a wonderful time.
Thoughts with those still absent especially panache today (from soops kitchen).

brook2704 Tue 20-Jul-21 07:20:18

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light white clouds and a hot sunny day forecast
Yesterday was a scorcher, like dwm we’ve got the gazebo up in the garden for some welcome shade in the afternoons. We’ve got the DGC to look after again this morning, so it’s a similar day to yesterday with taking them to their various sports activities then meeting up for a picnic lunch by the river in town later.
What a relief gelisa about the car keys, I can imagine how panicky you both must have felt. Time to relax now and enjoy your holidays.
Hope it’s just a sprain for your DGD Sar53 and her surf school can still go ahead
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Grandmabatty Tue 20-Jul-21 07:21:02

Good morning all. Polmont is warm and sunny again. That's such a nice report to give! Central Scotland isn't known for warm sunny weather lasting so long. It's very pleasant. JaxJacky happy birthday to MrJ. I hope he has a good day. Alizarin good luck with the check up. Sar I hope your dgd's wrist is ok.
Yesterday we had a lovely time in the garden, just playing about. The boy wonder was very sociable and spoke to everyone in the street or passing. He was very impressed with a group of teenage girls and dumped us oldies to speak to them.
Today will be more of the same. A visit to the fish man first, then out in the garden. I don't want to go far as I'm expecting a delivery of a hose. Up til now I've watered the garden with watering cans, but a combination of too many plants and a dodgy left hand meant it was becoming very painful so a hose it is. I hope you all have a good day.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another hot one.
Usual Tuesday at the charity shop. We are still wearing masks so hope the air conditioning is turned up!

Love to all x

Grandmajean Tue 20-Jul-21 07:41:57

Morning all!
Very hot already in Cheshire.
Meeting two friends later. Never thought I'd say this but it might be too hot to sit in the garden ?

Beechnut Tue 20-Jul-21 07:42:08

Good Morning everyone from Severnside.
Sat outside for a cool breakfast. Going swimming and probably stay indoors a lot later.

Happy birthday to MrJ.

Have a good day all ??

Greyduster Tue 20-Jul-21 07:48:35

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a bright and breezy South Yorkshire where I am in the middle of a monumental sneezing fit. Our GS is coming over at lunchtime as his dad has to go into work today, and he has decided that rather than go home with his dad this evening, he will stay the night. We are going to see if we can get a swim this afternoon at the local pool. There is no booking system now, so I expect it will be busy. He has ordered sausages and his grandad’s special mash for tea! It’s no different to my mash, or mum’s mash, but it obviously has a magic something that only grandad adds - and I suspect that magic something is the salt! hmm
This butterfly came into my garden yesterday and settled on a pot of mint. It’s a comma. We don’t see many of them.
Have a happy day, folks.

Greyduster Tue 20-Jul-21 07:51:32

Sorry, no butterfly it seems☹️. What is it with gransnet and photos?

Marydoll Tue 20-Jul-21 07:52:29

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow.

Geilsjams, oh how I can empathise with you! Our drama yesterday, involved paying the credit card bill or not! Mr MD is usually financially astute and IT savvy. He totally lost the plot and I had to take over! I'm hoping its the heat and nothing more worrying.

We are off to Lidl this morning. DH was reluctant to come with me, but I don't feel well enough to manage on my own today. Usually, I'm begging him not to come, so that I can footer to my heart's content! Damned if he does and dammed if he doesn't! ?

Yesterday I received a letter from the Sheilding people, advising me that I still need to be extra vigilant and continue to observe social distancing. On top of that, priority supermarket delivery slots will continue to be available to me for the foreseeable future. Also, the Scottish Goernment have decided to stop using the term, shielding and use the term, highest risk. Apparently we will not be asked to shield again, but to do our own risk assessments! Having to shield and what it implies has resulted in mental health issues for so many people. As a result, the Govt. are taking a different approach. I'm pretty blunt when I take part in the Sheilding research, in the hope that it will inform future initiatives.
That information led me to be somewhat unsettled, as it seems to hint that things may get worse again.
I look at England and wonder how can two neighbouring countries look at things so differently, when it comes to keeping their inhabitants safe? The videos of people in the nightclubs horrified me!

Garden is looking good GM. I hope your DGD is OK, ours is coming on and I will post photos when it is all finished. Sar I hope your DGD is OK and that your hospital appointment goes well, Alizerin.

I'm always afraid, I miss someone out and cause offence, so sending my best wishes to all!.
For those seeing family today, enjoy!

Grandmadinosaur Tue 20-Jul-21 07:54:59

Good morning. Another sunny one here.
Yesterday I made jam doing a mix of the strawberries and redcurrants. It turned out perfect as my last attempts at it was a little runny. I did a couple of wash loads and with the heat I didn’t do a lot else. Got a text in the afternoon from DS who was at home asking if I wanted to go across for a drink in the garden which I did. It was nice to have a catch up just the two of us. Today him, pregnant DiL and DGS are going to London for a couple of days. I don’t envy them in the heat. They had such plans of many things they wanted to see and do but I think weather may affect how much they do. DGS is very excited about it. It’s his first time to London and on a tube train also the Nat History museum and the BIG toy shop Hamleys!! I hope they have plenty of money for that ?
Today I’m going to coffee with couple of friends then go with the flow the rest of the day. As we aren’t on childminding duties this week I may go out for the day somewhere tomorrow making use of my senior railcard. If I decide on that I will have a lazy day today. As DH says what’s the difference ....
Happy Birthday to MrJ and wishing everyone a good day.

ginny Tue 20-Jul-21 08:01:57

Good morning all.
It is warming up although a little hazy outside.
I have a zoom meeting this morning and a few indoor jobs .
This afternoon I’m looking after DGS 3 whilst DD3 attends an appointment and will collect DGS 2 from school.
Garden looks lovely Grandmattie .
Have a good day everyone, keep cool and find a smile .

monk08 Tue 20-Jul-21 08:02:50

Good morning from the Black country sunny again.
Will read through later, must get DH prescription then we are going to Lichfield fancy a walk through park then into the town. Have just seen a fox on neighbours garage roof along with 4 magpies.
Enjoy your day and may you all find ?
