Our latest Grey cat is called Bowie, inherited from the blue cross rescue centre. We have had a Declan , who ‘found’ us and turned up one day.He lived to be 20 plus. We had a Siamese called Lochinvar and a dingo cross dog called Jade. Others I remember were a rescue dog called Tardie, a lovely Scotch Collie who saved my daughter’s life when she was a toddler, a cat my daughter named Erasmus who was as thick as a brick, Dana who was a tiny little Burmese with rather filthy habits, and Charles, a dignified Siamese with violet coloured eyes. They all had/ gave different personalities. Bowie, the current one, rules us with a rod of iron. A Putin style Russian blue.

My childhood dogs were Rover, Glen, Sandy because he was, Patch because he had one, and Gwyn. The goldfish were always Goldie, the rabbits were Jackie Fluff and Flossie. I remember a blue budgie when I was very young, but not his name. As proper grownups we’ve just had cats - Sooty and Sweep (named by the children smile), Archie, Annie and Angel, the most inappropriately named bad-tempered cat ever. And another Goldie the goldfish - DD1 brought him home from a fair in a plastic bag and he lived for years.

Years ago I had a female cat called Trotski. I wanted to call the next one Lenin, but was overruled by family.

The name of their first pet is often a person’s password, so be wary of all these random questions on public social media platforms such as Facebook.
Another popular question is the name of your first school or the street where you lived as a child,
Be aware.

All Cats, I wasn't allowed a dog, my father didn't like them but I had a close friend with an old English called Buster who lived nearby, friend kindly told me I could share her dog with her, he was the first dog in my life I felt very attached to him even though he wasn't really mine.
First cat, an all black kitten was produced from my brother's duffle bag after going to friend's house after school. He was told kitten was a she, so we called her Mitzi, later on vet informed us kitten was a he so then he became reborn as Soot.
Later on in my childhood and into my teens and after I left home, a tabby. Mum and I named him Billy.
A tortoise named Shelley
Then when I had my first house, a lovely tortoiseshell, female Polly, sadly she was run over before she reached a year.
Then for many years, a beautiful female tabby, from a rescue sanctuary, ex and I named her Mathilde, but most of the time called her Tilde. When we split she came with me.

Four kittens were born in my home office. Known as the Fonts, they were called Dingbat (who was, but sweet and loving), Helvetica Semi-Bold (he certainly was), Bodoni because she was a serif cat with the most glorious tail and Frutiger Light Condensed because she was the tiny runt of the litter. Their mother was called Fishpaste – don't ask.

When our grey boy goes to the vet we have to warn them. They got to know him during his rather long time at the Blue Cross when he had a fight with a rat ( he won but got badly bitten). When we adopted him they told us he was famous because he let fly at the vet and went mental. We have seen it in action and had to use brooms and a blanket to get him into his cage after he had been fighting with another cat. My daughters think I should take him back but we have actually fallen in love with the little sod.

The man of the house is Oliver the Great a big grey shorthaired British Blue he is 5 this year and walks the back wall of my garden as if he is the boss of the area.
Over the years we have had Rosy the rescue Labrador who we had until she was 16 and what a lovely girl she was from the moment she arrived ,we had Nelson the one eyed pug who was abandoned he lived until he was 10 and very demanding.
We have had Bonny the English Bulldog and Bonny the Bassett Hound who we had from 8weeks old until she was 12 yrs old she was a diva of a dog they all had their own individual ways about them and I miss them all so much.
