My mum had posters of Mel Gibson up in the 80s and 90s my daughter still calls him Uncle Mel when she sees one of his films on tv.

Used to get Boyfriend magazine. Had a centre fold of the current star we all wanted as a boyfriend eg Cliff Richard, Billy Fury, Elvis, Pat Boone, Adam Faith. Each centre fold was pinned up in my room. No sellotape allowed in case of damage to wallpaper. And, only allowed drawing pins on top corners so everytime room door was opened the whole lot used to fly up at the bottom edge. Goodness, going back a bit.

Mike Nesmith from the Monkees.

I also had Mike Nesmith on the wall. I still have a small photo of him in my bedroom now. Also posters of the other Monkees and David Essex.

Almost every inch of my bedroom walls was covered with Beatles pics. There were a couple of the Stones as well plus a gorgeous photo of Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting from the film of Romeo and Juliet. Oh and a Yardbirds one and another of a local band that we all liked, called The Others.

Little Joe from Bonanza.

FarNorth Tue 27-Jul-21 15:18:02

Micky Dolenz of the Monkees - though I wasn't really bothered about stars.
I had a collage of all sorts of cut up pictures, on my wardrobe door.

Notsooldat75 Tue 27-Jul-21 14:59:25

Frankie Vaughan - please please no one say “Who?”

Supergran1946 Tue 27-Jul-21 14:51:48

Robert Redford, Craig Douglas ( anyone remember him ?????)

My sister had a poster of Cliff Richard on her wall and I got told off when I drew a moustache and glasses on her poster because I didn’t like him ??

Well I went through all these and didn't find mine which was
Farrah Forcett Majors! I thought she was perfection and wanted to look like her so it kept my mind on my weight and hair!
(I never morphed into her though)

Roger Taylor from Queen
Phil Collen from Def Leppard.
Richie Sambora from Bon Jovi
Gene Simmons from Kiss.

I still have a Queen Calendar every year...and still love Roger and Gene ...

Adam Faith, Elvis Presley, The Shadows and Cliff. Then Beatles, Beatles, Beatles!

Clawdy Tue 27-Jul-21 14:30:49

A big picture of Fabian the American teen actor and singer. I used to kiss it every night! Then I moved on to the Beatles.

Annaram1 Tue 27-Jul-21 13:51:11

Elvis Presley. I still have a calendar with him on every page, dating from 2017, given to me by my grandson. Its amazing how formally he dressed, even suit and tie!

FindingNemo15 Tue 27-Jul-21 13:47:40

David Essex and Cat Stevens - loved them both

I had this one, (ebay image) given me by friend. I was not into Shakespeare (although we had to study him at school) but I suspect my friends parents deemed a poster from the Sunday Times about a Shakespeare Character was suitable! It was a proper "send away for it" poster not pulled out of the magazine. I always thought he looked rather wimpy!!

HiPpyChick57 Tue 27-Jul-21 13:27:52

I wallpapered my room with photos from Jackie. All the usual ones
The Osmonds
David Cassidy
Marc Bolan
Sweet
Slade
Marmalade
Mott the Hoople
Creedence Clearwater Revival
The Stones
My all time favourite was a huge one of the actor Pete Duel from Alias Smith and Jones that took pride of place. I cried buckets when he later committed suicide.

At the risk of giving my age away - posters of the Beatles and Monkees were replaced by Rod Stewart, David Bowie and Mick Ronson who gave way to a brief flirtation with Led Zeppelin. I was a lot more fickle in those dayssmile

mrsba Tue 27-Jul-21 13:10:37

Brian Connolly from The Sweet
Mark Almond
George Best

Larsonsmum Tue 27-Jul-21 13:08:52

Marc Bolan - was devastated when he was killed in the car crash.

When I shared a room with my sister, we had a poster of Elvis on our wardrobe door. It was from the magazine Valentine and came in three parts. Our room was also decorated in pink and black, at my sister's insistence, because they were Elvis's favourite colours.

I loved Paul Simon, of Simon and Garfunkel, when I was about 13 and had his picture next to my bed. I cut it out of Fabulous. I used to kiss him goodnight, until his lips went wrinkly.

I think I had various posters but eventually narrowed it down to a large poster of Steve McQueen. He was gorgeous.

sarahcyn Tue 27-Jul-21 12:56:20

Pete Duel from "Alias Smith and Jones".
He died young.

Lizzie44 Tue 27-Jul-21 12:48:10

No posters in my day but I used to read a film magazine and I cut out pictures of Dirk Bogarde.

HannahLoisLuke Tue 27-Jul-21 12:47:21

I’m obviously older as I had early Elvis but also people like Lena Horne and Yana. Not because I liked them but because the colourful photos brightened up a dull bedroom wall.
My mother spitefully stuck my Elvis photo back up with a nail through the middle of his face!

Unigran4 Tue 27-Jul-21 12:35:22

Wasn't allowed any, but would have had Adam Faith and Gerry and the Pacemakers.
