I don't think posters had been invented when I was a teenager. My mum would certainly not have allowed them anyway. I don't remember my daughters having them either. It never cropped up when my daughters were teenagers.

I had pictures from Jackie too. The Beatles, Monkees, etc. Also film posters from the local cinema. Steve McQueen , Tony Curtis . The largest wall was reserved for Leeds United FC and , in particular, Billy Bremner. I still have these posters . My grandson is both fascinated and appalled by his Nan’s devotion to team from over the hills in Yorkshire.

Ben Murphy out of Alias Smith and Jones.

I wasn't allowed to put posters on the wall, but did cut out and keep lots from my Jackie mags.My favourites were Davy Jones from the Monkees and David McCallum (Illya Kuryakin from the Man from Uncle Tv series)

Oh lulubelle500, me too! I used to go and get the far flung brochures and cut the pictures out and put into scrapbooks!

Lulubelle500 Tue 27-Jul-21 11:36:55

All the places I wanted to go to 'when I grew up'! I haunted travel agents and when they changed their window display there I 'd be. Some of those posters would be worth a lot of money now, especially the ones with illustrations. But my mother was a great clearer outer and they were incinerated as soon as I flew the nest. Some of the places I never got to, because they were behind the iron curtain or weren't safe in those days and now everyone can go more or less anywhere I can't afford to. But I remember dreaming about them. Where would we be without dreams?

JaneJudge Tue 27-Jul-21 11:33:43

I had loads of amnesty international posters too...what a contrast!

JaneJudge Tue 27-Jul-21 11:32:59

I had this one grin seems you can still get it!

Growing0ldDisgracefully Tue 27-Jul-21 11:32:48

Marc Bolan and T. Rex, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and a couple of humerous ones: one with the 3 wise monkeys and Tarzan - the 3 monkeys covering the usual places and Tarzan covering his crotch. The other one was of a toilet with 2 hands coming up out of it clutching the edge of the rim! Yes, I have a strange sense of humour ?

LullyDully Tue 27-Jul-21 11:30:44

George Harrison of course. Only on a glass dividing wall. Not allowed sellotape on the wallpaper of course.

hf59 Tue 27-Jul-21 11:19:38

Me too for Roger Daltrey!

mrsgreenfingers56 Tue 27-Jul-21 11:17:03

David Cassidy, as many as the walls could hold!

essjay Tue 27-Jul-21 11:16:36

david cassidy, steve mcqueen, marti from the new seekers, richard barnes(used to listen to him on radio luxemburg). my parents gave up decorating my room as there was always more posters than wallpaper!

homefarm Tue 27-Jul-21 11:14:25

None - my father would not allow damage to the walls

mimismo Tue 27-Jul-21 11:07:47

David Cassidy and Jack Wild from the scrapbooks

grandtanteJE65 Tue 27-Jul-21 11:01:57

None. My parents would have had a fit if we had wanted to put up posters.

I don't think they objected to posters as such, but they certainly denounced drawing pin holes or even worse sellotape ruining the wallpaper!

Schoolgirl crushes on film stars or pop singers were redculed too.

Hellogirl1, Huw Thomas was ok, but just go on to YouTube and listen to Reginald singing “Dance with me”. You might change your mind!!!

cupcake1 Tue 27-Jul-21 10:57:07

The Who, Beatles and David Essex- those eyes and that voice (swoon!)

mimismo Tue 27-Jul-21 10:55:40

I didn't put things on the walls but had (and still have) scrapbooks with stuff culled from Jackie.

Missiseff Tue 27-Jul-21 10:54:09

My Dad did me a complete wall of New Seekers pictures, pasted them on, overlapped some, I loved it.
Can't imagine 'not being allowed'

Froglady Tue 27-Jul-21 10:54:00

I had posters of Leeds United football team! This was in the 1960s.

Alioop Tue 27-Jul-21 10:53:54

George Michael covered my walls, whether on his own or with Wham. Maybe an odd Depeche Mode, Spandau Ballet or Duran Duran crept in.
