Can anyone recommend a "silent" fan for sleeping?

In the recent heatwave we tried opening the bedroom window at night, but because our bedroom is at the back of the house we were disturbed by barking dogs and cars starting up in the early morning etc. We therefore decided a fan would be a good idea instead. We do have one but it's a bit clanky for nighttime so would be very grateful if anyone could recommend one with a quiet operation.

I’ve got a Probreeze,
It’s absolutely marvellous.
It’s very quiet, but not silent.
I’m not sure if such a thing exists

The Dyson fan certainly splits opinion.
I’ve been umming and ahhing about it for ages, but the reviews confuse me.
I think that next year I might actually buy a portable AC gizmo and be done with

I have a chiller unit, it’s not absolutely silent, but it’s a gentle background hum and very efficient. Pro breeze portable 10litre air cooler.

It's not just the price of the unit - the filters are pretty pricey to change every year! I've got one for the bedroom and use it overnight. It's on quite low (2), just enough to keep the room cool, and I don't notice any noise.

a chiller unit might be better.
surely everyone sleeps with a window open in summer.
would be stuffy otherwise.
a little ambient noises off is quiet reassuring. some people cannot sleep in the depths of the countryside, as it is too quiet.

Welbeck, if you are in a groundfloor flat or a bungalow the likelyhood is that you can only open the window a tiny bit while keeping locked.
