Well, what a surprise!

Our beloved Phoenix passed away early this morning, in the loving arms of family and her two close friends. Please see the updated thread and in future post all comments there.
It becomes confusing, when two threads are running about the same thing.

I think perhaps that I am amongst many of the newer GNers that will have come back a few times to this thread. I discovered it on Sunday thanks to a nudge in this direction and am discovering more and more about Phoenix, thanks to those who followed her posts and got to know her very well.

Tonight I took Phoenix's advice and watched Pata Pata. A few of you have mentioned it too. Thank you for the link Riverwalk.

I shall follow the update thread but keep popping back here.

Such a special lady is our Phoenix so many stories which had your sides splitting with laughter about Mr P's escapades,what a lady she is she will be missed by everyone on GN we have known each other since day one I think and although we didn't pm as much the past few years I will always treasure her friendship specially when she was looking for a giant tie -back for her door curtain years ago and with me working in a charity shop I found one for her you would think I had sent her the crown jewels she was so grateful such a wonderful lady.I feel so sad and hope that she is comfortable surrounded by her loving family and her precious cats xxx

You certainly have your own inimitable style dear Phoenix, a very special funny lady. Gransnet will not be the same without you.

Posted early on, but not since, because faced with the news Phoenix gave us, what could one say, but I have been following it every day, often with tears in my eyes. Sometimes life is a bitch.

Just thought you should know that she is not up to reading gn and hasn't been for a few days but she does know about everyone's lovely thoughts.

Oh kittylester how sad that phoenix is not up to reading gn - she is obviously really poorly. Have been hoping against hope that she would be fine for quite a while yet. Life is so unfair at times.

kittylester this is sounding so like DH. Two years today since he died and the internet was always his lifeline until he could no longer read his messages. Please keep us in touch, so many people are thinking about her.

I too missed this thread from being away and no access to WiFi or 4G for a while . I rarely post but usually read posts most days , so sad to hear about Phoenix , I love her sense of humour and hilarious stories . Wishing her a peaceful time with her family , a much loved poster .

There will be a new thread, as I am aware many have missed her sad news. Typical of Phoenix to not put her name in the title. However, the thread will probably be started by another poster, who is the direct and very supportive link between Phoenix's family and her friends. That's where you should be able to find news.
Until a week ago, Phoenix was still entertaining a few us with her inimitable and no nonsense take on life.

Sadly there will be no miracles.

So sorry to read that Phoenix is not well enough to read our messages but how lovely that she was able to write one last funny post describing her birthday.

Gransnet will be an emptier place without her.

KittyLester I am so sad to read this. Poor Phoenix, it's so wrong, so unfair, she's always been so full of life . She is in my thoughts constantly, I keep hoping for a miracle too SueDonim
