Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey and wet start here in brackley , which see me having a quiet day in .
Yesterday coach trip to Windsor was OK only 12 in the mini coach altogether,
The day went well , not as busy as usual ,as things start to pick up again ,we had 5 hours there, so had plenty of walking around the town.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a bright E Kent. Apart from a few very hot days in late June, it has been surprisingly cool here, barely reaching 20C. Lots of wind…
I bought fabric which I hand rinsed (no machine), dried on line and started a new patchwork yesterday. That particular pattern is very quick to make, which is gratifying.
Virtual church again - I’m not going back until there are no restrictions and people are less hostile. Besides we have the pleasure of seeing DD!
DH seems as right as rain now, back to normal, but needs congratulating every time he goes up with his new dumb phone. Men!!! ?
I hope today brings joy to our GraMmingos, esp. Marydoll with her visit to Dollie. May you catch a flamingo ? from a passing flamboyance ????

Ashcombe Sun 08-Aug-21 06:29:27

Good morning, all, from a dreary Torbay.

Yesterday, as I set off to travel home, I could see that the A30 was completely gridlocked in both directions so I double backed to travel home via Moretonhampstead, Bovey Tracy and Newton Abbot. This involves several single lane stretches, which can be challenging, but preferable to sitting in a queue. I was expect my neighbours will think I’m taking in washing as I returned with four bags of linen and towels!

It was good to see you back yesterday, Dwmxwg and I like your idea of this group of contributors being family. The support and care shown certainly resembles the best kind of family love. NanKate, I hope the tests are negative and that Marydoll was able to spend time with her beloved Dollie.

Grandmafrench: on one occasion after a long day's travelling from Torbay to DH's home in la Sarthe, it was after dark when we encountered a wild boar crossing the road. I was glad that olddudders was driving as it was his swift reaction which prevented us from hitting the creature!

A lovely start to 2022 for you, Lins1066, with the prospect of your first grandchild! Hope all will go well. ??

Hartigran: what about trying your DH on BuildUp, which I found helpful when convalescing? It comes in a range of sweet and savoury flavours. I hope the fires were successfully extinguished, Dustyangel.

The photo is of the best possible combination: wine and a flamingo! Have a blessed Sunday, good people! ??✝️

grandMattie Sun 08-Aug-21 06:31:23

Surely the best combination, Ash! Wine and flamingos…?

muse Sun 08-Aug-21 06:37:03

Good morning Mick and all Morningsters.
Grey start to the day. Not a good night’s sleep hence the early post. Think it will be a duvet day for me. Trying not to disturb MrM as I get an early morning cup of Earl Grey and take it back to bed.

??? I'll drop by later to read everyone’s news.

cornergran Sun 08-Aug-21 06:39:05

Morning Mick, morning All. It’s very wet and blowing a gale in our corner of Somerset. Tired of it now.

Pleased your day went well mick. Wine and flamingoes seems a good combination for sure. Perhaps to celebrate soop’s birthday today.

Other than retrieving a click and collect item I think I’ll be hibernating. Full of aches and pains and generally gloomy. There is roast beef later to bring a smile to Mr C with carrots, potatoes and runner beans from our containers, there will be pleasure for me in that.

Take care everyone. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Another early morning for me on the Suffolk coast, as little pooch was barking to go out. I didn’t want her waking the whole house, so got up and took her out.

Yesterday , with all the family here, was great but chaotic. The weather didn t help with torrential downpours . The sun came out and stayed out about 3 so we were able to have our bar b q and the children were able to go down to the beach. The sea was so rough and wild , so only 2 ventured in for a few minutes.
Today they want to go crabbing, so I hope the weather holds off for us.?.

Today will be another busy one, but it’s so lovely to have them all here together.

Wishing you all a pleasant day ☔️?

Greyduster Sun 08-Aug-21 07:04:04

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a rather gloomy South Yorkshire. The family wedding yesterday was lovely, from the ceremony in a fourteenth century church high up on one lovely hillside, to the reception on another on the other side of the valley. The weather behaved itself for the most part and everyone had a good time. Today will be a quiet day - we haven’t even had time to unpack after our holiday yet so that will be job number one! Sausages and mash for lunch today. Simple and delicious after a week of rich food! Have a good day folks.

Beechnut Sun 08-Aug-21 07:12:41

Good Morning all from Severnside where it is damp, dull and I don’t feel on top of the world.

Plenty of rain yesterday so I stayed indoors and watched a lot of you tube music.

I’m going to take today as it comes. Yesterday was just sandwiches so I must make a proper meal today.

Glad you were happy with your trip Mick with a lot of exploring hours.

Have a good day all ?

NanKate Sun 08-Aug-21 07:19:37

Morning Mick and All.

A grey damp day in South Bucks.

Thank you for remembering Ashcombe yes all my boys are Covid-free ? My 10 year old reminded me to get him in some pain au chocolate, so I can see he is on the mend.

If you change your mind Ash about taking in washing I will have a load by Friday when the family depart. ?

Off to buy up Sainsbury’s and M and S.

monk08 Sun 08-Aug-21 07:22:13

Good morning all from a wet Black country.
We are off to Aberystwyth today looks like I'll need to pack the wellies, still looking forward to a change of scenery.
Glad you enjoyed your coach trip Mick
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ?.

Alygran Sun 08-Aug-21 07:34:06

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining at the moment.
Another quiet day for me. Church this morning and I may pop to town for some cards then read my book and do some knitting.
Have a good day everyone.

Nannytopsy Sun 08-Aug-21 07:42:24

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Glad your trip to Windsor was a success Mick.
You are brave Monk08 - I have childhood memories of the trip from the Black Country to Aberystwyth in our Austin Cambridge every summer, to take my grandparents on their summer holiday. Then we would fetch them a week later. If gave grandad a chance to speak his native Welsh. I remember lots of rain!
Changing beds here too today, ready for three lots of visitors on Friday, Sunday and Monday nights next week!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Dogsmakemesmile Sun 08-Aug-21 07:43:57

Good morning everyone. Dry here in the Scottish Borders but rain imminent I believe along with thunder. Washing on but no plans for the rest of the day...AC send recommendations for iplayer programmes so might investigate a couple. Determined to be more enthusiastic and diligent about my physio so will start my first session of the day. My best wishes to you all.

brook2704 Sun 08-Aug-21 07:44:11

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with light grey cloud. I think some showers are in the forecast for later so it’ll probably be a day of in and out of the garden
Yesterday we had a change of plan as I had a last minute invite to pop round to DD2 house. I ended up staying for lunch and then went into town later. As usual it was lovely to see the DGC - it made my day!
Hoping everyone on holidays or out and about meeting friends and family today has a lovely time
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

grandMattie, I have sent a PM regarding your quilting fabrics.
Have a good day everyone!

Good morning. N. Bucks is grey and windy .
Hoping the weather improves as we have booked in for a visit to a NT property. It would be nice if we can walk the grounds without getting wet.
Wishing all a smile along your way.

Jaxjacky Sun 08-Aug-21 07:56:57

Good morning all from a grey S Hants, I’m pleased your trip went well Mick. Got a shock this morning as I weighed myself, 5lb on since March, I have 5 weeks until we go away on a break, doable.
Congratulations Lins no flamingoes, but a stork!
A quiet day yesterday, MrJ enjoyed his golf and stayed mainly dry. Today, if the rain holds off, I’ll do some gardening, last day of isolation for DD and the GC’s.
A fair few of you not at your best this morning, I hope over today you all improve, we need some sun and warmth, sadly missing for a while now.
Take care, have the best day you can everyone x

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s damp and cloudy.

My sister and I had a great time to ourselves mooching in the charity shops in the west end then people watching with our takeaway sandwiches and coffee in the Botanic Gardens. Simple pleasures, and the only quick shower happened while we were in a shop.

Btw Marydoll, the mill at New Lanark does indeed still produce beautiful wool for sale. Good news re the anniversary card.

Laura, I’ve only just caught up with your news. I’m so glad that you’re on the mend, that must have been so frightening.

GDG’s birthday tomorrow and DD has asked if I’ll make cupcakes and chocolate fudgy squares so that’s my task for the day.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday. Thinking of our missing posters and especially those struggling with worries, sadness, or illness.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The garden looks damp so no need to water.
The cousin meetup or Brunch here at Granny's went very well yesterday.
The younger ones played football with the dog while the rest of us tried to catch up on all the doings. A happy time.

As soon as they were back on the road, I had an intensive rejig of the flat which I want to let out. The agent is coming tomorrow.
I took various pieces of furniture junk to the tip where maybe someone will rescue them they will make fuel.
There is a huge incinerator which produces energy I am reliably informed.

Your sewing projects take shape so quickly grandMattie. well done.
I am glad you enjoyed the coach trip Mick

Wishing everyone a happy Sunday

Good morning all.
Bucketing with rain here ! Not what I want really for friends' Golden Wedding party this afternoon but have Googled the venue and it's enormous so plenty room inside for the fifty or so guests as it can take 240 ! Friends have clearly thought this through and planned for all weather.
Will come back to read all posts later. Love the colours and pattern GrandMattie
Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday.

Good morning from a dry, sunny but very windy Essex by the sea.
We are going out for breakfast a bit later, then a visit to hang some curtains on the boat and then a drink in the yacht club bar, now that it has finally reopened.
It is DD2's 42nd birthday today so I will ring her later. I'm seeing both girls and all 5 granddaughters on Thursday and I can't wait. It is over a year since they have seen each other so lots of catching up to do.
Have a pleasant Sunday everyone xx

Just a quickie from a bright, breezy south Cornwall. Been preoccupied with my nephews and families but they've gone back now. I've discovered that one of them is a talented artist, which I didn't know. We had lovely discussions about the thickness of acrylic paint ha ha. His dad, who is dead, would have loved that. Many thoughts to ponder on today. I'll be back to normal tomorrow! Have the best day you can.

Alizarin Sun 08-Aug-21 08:07:45

Ignore the photo! No idea where it popped up from!!!!
