Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but with grey cloud here at the moment in brackley this morning.
Todays plans are first housework , and later I will get the bus to Bicester for my usual hour there ,and return to watch cycling hopefully on Eurosport this afternoon , as the sport gets back to a normal programme of events.
Take Care,
Mick

So sorry to hear Scentia's news, hoping the family recovers quickly. My sister's whole family is in the same situation just now, all positive. I'm dropping off soup on their doorstep and waving from a distance!

Sending love and prayers for all who need/ wish them.???

Good afternoon Mick and all Morningsters. I was up at 7:30 and skipped breakfast as some urgent pick ups and drop offs were necessary for build work to continue today. Grey skies in mid Cornwall at that time.

Back home now , breakfast eaten and enjoying a fresh pot of coffee outside in the sun now whilst reading GM postings. Note book has a few jottings.

First a thank you to GrandMattie and Nannytopsy for their jam sugar advice. I now have 7 jars of blackcurrant jam without having to drive miles to buy more sugar.

Cornergran I do hope the day improves with not too many irritations.

Ashcombe Good luck with the travel plans.

What excellent joyful news Marydoll. Such a relief for little A's parents.

Nannytopsy Sounds like you and GrannySomerset have turned your houses into Laundry Central. Then you've got non stop activities Nannytopsy. Hope you take time to catch your breath in between.?

GG13??for negative results.

Grandmafrench. Rather like having a box at the theatre ? What a show.

Scientia. Lots of calls when possible and those chats will help your DD and you. I do hope they get through it quickly.

GrandmaSomerset Well done to your DGD1. Same to all those with their A level results today. It angers me that there are some all too ready to talk down the hard work done by the students and the teachers' professional assessments.

A walk for Mya soon and then some gardening. MrM has his doctor's appointment late this afternoon to check on how the wounds are healing. He is looking less pained and no paracetamols for last two days. Still a few stabbing pains but hopefully it will be positive news from the nurse.

Texts to DD and DS today. I've heard nothing at all from DS since his call on 4th July?. DD and DGD are with friends till mid week. Miss her chats.

Nannytopsy Tue 10-Aug-21 11:44:16

StepGD has A A C and is off to be a paramedic! On the downside, her car broke down last night ☹️

madeleine45 Tue 10-Aug-21 11:35:21

good morning from north yorks. weather sunny cloudy windy calm threatening rain sunny.! All in quick succession, so just have to be ready for whatever arrives. Trying to do a little in the garden. Very good news about the baby. Hope all continues to improve there. After last week have been quite glad to just do ordinary boring housework jobs, to let the hassle of last week calm down. It is good to just do jobs as I choose and not be stuck to a tight time table. Was able to go to a singing practise ,suitably spaced out, in a church., last night First time since the lockdown we have been able to get together to look at music. Rusty voices of course but mentally great and drove home in a more positive state of mind. Thank goodness for music and radio 3 to cheer my day. Hope everyone has a good day

Very late good morning from overcast Anglesey. I have swapped Orlin for an 11 year old granddaughter for a week. Orlin is helping to renovate the Leicester family house so that the family can move in during September.
Lovely to sleep without his snoring but I miss the cuddles.
I have taught our little genius to play sudoku and now she’s compiling her own! I am already sick of monopoly, scrabble and ludo. We’ve been around the garden three times playing boule already and we’re now planning a stroll to the beach for some razor clams.
I have finally washed my hair and the stitched area is scabbing and very itchy.
Hope your family make a quick recovery Scentia, nothing stops us worrying but a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake helps. cafe cupcake.
Lovely news for Marydoll and Ashcombe.
Lots of proud Grans re A level results. Every generation seems to be a bit cleverer than the last. Let’s hope they can put this world to rights.
Have a fun day all. Look out for the random pink flamingo ? and make the most of that moment.

Nannagarra Tue 10-Aug-21 11:29:22

Scentia their amusement about the oximeter suggests they’re less worried than you which is a good sign.
Congratulations to all those who have received A-level results. #proudgrandparents

gillgran Tue 10-Aug-21 11:13:51

Good Morning to you all from a warm, dry Cambs.,

Hope all goes well for your DD & her family Scentia. It is a worrying time when we feel so helpless. I am thinking of you.
Our DD is still testing negative, as is their 7 year old DD, (after her DH was positive 10 days ago, & then their 4 year old tested positive last Thursday), so, instead of being out of isolation today, they have to wait until the weekend.
It's so frustrating for so many families.

Jaxjacky, are yours OK now.?

Brilliant news GrannySomerset, what a great achievement for your DGD.
Our good news is that our eldest DGD received the 'A' level grades she needed (A B B ) to go to Lancaster university, we are so proud, & happy for her.

Marydoll, I've been thinking of your friend's poorly baby, good that the surgery was successful. Enjoy your time with Dolly.

Warm wishes, dear folk, Take Care. flowers

Scentia Tue 10-Aug-21 11:12:20

Nannagarra. Just ordered her one to be delivered tomorrow to great amusement in their household?.

Nannagarra Tue 10-Aug-21 10:51:38

Good morning from the Sefton coast where the weather is so-so.
Very encouraging news about the baby Marydoll and of the imminent reunion with Olddudders, Ashcombe. ? for his speedy recovery to hasten the date. Have a wonderful laughter-filled morning with Dollie, Mary. That’s a truly wonderful act of kindness, Jax.
Scentia does your DD have an oximeter? In addition to her promise to you, it might reduce the understandable worry. May all affected have short-lived symptoms. ? the baby’s okay.
Nothing specific is on my agenda today. DGD was supposed to come but is in isolation having been in contact last week with someone who tested +ve. We had been practising greeting each other in Chinese and were almost ready for the “big reveal” this week.
Thinking of you all. ???

GrannySomerset Tue 10-Aug-21 10:32:40

Jubilant DGD1 has telephoned with A Level results (A*, A*, A, A) and says that she is disappointed that the results are already being talked down. These results were what was predicted at the beginning of the academic year so she feels she trusts them and has certainly worked consistently for them. Very hard being in this cohort of young people.

Good news x2 from Marydoll, so sorry Scentia is so worried, and sympathy to Gwen after the attentions of young Fiddlefingers. Our cooker in the last house never recovered from the efforts of DGD whose button pressing knew no bounds.

Away to hang out first load of washing. Thinking of changing my user name to Widow Twankey.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 10-Aug-21 10:16:20

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Great news Ash though I sometimes wonder is Olddudders had gone to the French authorities months zag and said he was an illegal immigrant he would have been booted over here as fast as possible with no tests or quarantine necessary!!
marydoll your plants are very colourful. Enjoy your time with Dollie. Even if I’m having to post this on my phone ‘cause DGS made a right mess of my MacBook yesterday. It’s mostly sorted now but I can’t post on GN. I did briefly pray for your baby. Glad so far so good.
What a horrible time you are having Scentia. My 5 year old DGD announced she’d had COVID but is better now, my DD and DsiL did not have symptoms.
GrandMattie between getting your washing machine fixed and a new sofa, that should be you sorted for awhile!!
Hope you are soon on top of the world Cornergran
Have the best day possible folks

joyce6135 Tue 10-Aug-21 10:09:31

Have just read your update Scentia, what a worry for you, my thoughts are with you.

joyce6135 Tue 10-Aug-21 10:00:33

Morning everyone, nothing to report as my life is quite boring compared to many on here, but I love reading your posts. Such good news this morning especially Marydoll and Ashcombe and others I can’t name as I didn’t note them down as I was reading! Have a lovely day everyone, peace and joy to all.

BlueSapphire Tue 10-Aug-21 09:52:33

Well I am very late this morning, so a quick hello from me before I go back and read the thread. Opened my eyes to find it was nearly 9. 30am - a very unusual occurrence for me!

It's quite bright here in Northampton, and looks as though it will stay fine for our health walk this afternoon. It'll be good to have some company; haven't spoken to a soul except the cats since last Thursday.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Blossoming Tue 10-Aug-21 09:52:02

Good morning all from a ‘sunshine and showers’ Lancashire. I’m hoping to get out for a short walk to get some data to help me complete the goals for my rehab plan. I hope your husband can make the trip Ashcombe. Lovely news from you Marydoll, I hope that wee baby goes from strength to strength and so pleased you’re seeing Dollie again. Keeping my fingers crossed your family are soon on the mend Scentia.

I’m just enjoying a morning cuppa, I can’t have one until I’ve finished taking all my meds at spaced intervals so this first one tastes so good smile

Dogsmakemesmile Tue 10-Aug-21 09:39:26

Good morning from a currently dry Scottish Borders. Scentia I am so sorry to hear your update. This will be a difficult week for you.
Cleaning awaits. Have doors and widows open so that counts as cleaning in my eyes. On second wash. Attempted a basic coding course yesterday... I had no idea what was going on after the second sentence. Slammed laptop shut and sneaked away. Not tempted to go back but ashamed of giving up. Sending everyone wishes for as good a day as possible.

Sar53 Tue 10-Aug-21 09:37:25

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.

I'm sorry to hear your news Scentia flowers.

Not a lot happening here today. DH has gone to work on his boat as usual. I fear I am a 'boat widow' at the moment. He has said that hopefully when he has done a few more jobs that we can have a day out on the water.

I've already done the ironing and I'm trying to defrost the freezer, a thankless task.

Lovely to hear your news Marydoll, enjoy your day with Dollie. Hopefully not too long now Ash before you and Olddudders can be reunited.

Gingster have a rest today, it sounds like a very busy weekend.

Have a lovely day everyone and let's hope the sun keeps shining xxx

B9exchange Tue 10-Aug-21 09:32:09

We have sun and blue sky in SW Herts, what a joy after yesterday. Ash I am so pleased that you are finally going to be reunited after all this time, wishing OldUdders back a quick recovery so that nothing gets in the way next week.

Marydoll I am delighted that the operation went well, and that Dollie is coming today, you must be beside yourself with excitement. Look forward to hearing all about your orders from her later!

GGFrench loved your equivalent of the Red Arrows, but please take care on that ladder!

Scentia there is nothing that can stop you worrying, we would all be the same, but the statistics for younger people are really reassuring, and for children, they will be fine. This calculator tool might do a little bit to reassure you. qcovid.org/Calculation

Enjoy the sunshine everyone, and have the best day possible

Grandmajean Tue 10-Aug-21 09:29:39

Sending you best wishes for better news soonScentia - such a worry. My family , too , are always reluctant to get medical help so I understand your concerns. I am sometimes helped by the saying "Most of the things I worried about didn't happen" but it can be overwhelming at the time flowers

Alizarin Tue 10-Aug-21 09:26:47

Good morning from a bright, breezy south Cornwall. Today the farmer's market and then to my allotment knitters' group. Nice pics Marydoll, hope we'll be posting photos of fruit next year! Glad the baby is ok. In a bit of a dash today. All the best to everyone.

hollysteers Tue 10-Aug-21 09:22:54

Good morning Mick and all from a bright for the moment Suet on Sea on the Lancashire coast.
Lovely to have my DD here from the south. Last night we had a ‘television supper’ (the Queen’s favourite apparently) of her spaghetti bog. When she went to bed after a very busy day, I watched The Northern Belle of Great Western Railways going up to Carlisle. I’ve had a trip on one of these trains and fancy the Flying Scotsman in December.
It turns out that with the confusion last year through covid, I have no MOT! Shock horror, so car in garage being done. I usually clean it out, so the shame of it…
Off tonight to exhibition opening so may go mad and wash my hair. Steady on Holly!?
Thoughts to Harrigran and Scentia
Hope you all, sick and well, have the best day you can,

brook2704 Tue 10-Aug-21 09:04:58

Oh Scentia how awful - hoping they all recover soon, such a worry though

Jaxjacky Tue 10-Aug-21 08:59:46

Oh Scentia what a worry, so frustrating when you want to help.
I really hope they’re all just mildly poorly and soon recovered.

Grandmabatty Tue 10-Aug-21 08:58:23

Rotten news Scentia ?

Harris27 Tue 10-Aug-21 08:55:11

Good news marydoll enjoy your day.
