Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry and clear start here in Brackley this morning , today will go and finish gravel laying at the cemetery, after an early small shop.
Yesterday , I saw a bargain of a coach trip to London in a couple of Saturdays time , the bargain with discount just over £14, so will go .
I noticed yesterday, more people are getting out and about but I am also cautious as well .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a brightish E Kent.
Laundry today, so I can hang the washing out. I hope I hang it right, my MiL used to think I was a slut because I didn’t hang it “right”. Having been brought up with servants, when I left home I discovered my own techniques with the most efficient drying areas…
Had a mostly productive day yesterday. Lovely t’ai chi class which I enjoyed both for the exercise and for the company afterwards.
We paid for our new sofas but failed to find a charity willing to have them. That was sad as they are in good condition. They are going for recycling.
Our washing machine was fixed - the mechanic said it was purely due to limescale. Unfortunately, the configuration of the kitchen precludes a water softener.
The parts required to fix the dishwasher are on order. So everything is back to normal, hunky dory.
I’m afraid I can’t remember everyone, but you all know that I keep you in my thoughts and prayers for your safety and good health. ??????

Good Morning Mick and all who follow from a calm and (hopefully) dry and sunny (later) Oxfordshire.
We erected the Potting Shed yesterday, so I expect DH and nephew to be full of aches and pains today as those panels were heavy, I was kept busy as chief Gofer and drinks maker.
Today a bit of paintwork to touch up inside the shed so the weather doesn’t matter so much.
Hope all who follow have a good day with smiles and laughter, hugs for those who aren’t feeling so chipper and who have worries.

Beechnut Wed 11-Aug-21 06:52:24

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry and warm.

I’m going to have a sort out today and get some books ready to go somewhere. Not sure yet where. I shall be under the stairs as well where I know there are some light bulbs I’m not sure about. I will probably ask my brother about them.

Have the best day you can all and hope there aren’t any fresh worries for anyone ?

Ashcombe Wed 11-Aug-21 07:12:45

Good morning, everyone, from a slightly dull Torbay (the weather and me!)

That sounds like an excellent London deal, Mick.

What a lovely tribute to the memory of your parents, Jaxjacky! My SiL runs a junior football team with its own ground and they’re trying to raise £1500 to place one near their facilities and have reached nearly £1k. This is as a result of seeing the experience of the Danish player in the World Cup.

Thank you for all your encouraging comments about the possibility of me seeing olddudders soon. No new developments on that front, except that he has resorted to Tramadol for the pain, prescribed when it first flared up. He is sleeping in a sitting position for fear of greater pain if he lies down. Today he plans to reduce the dosage to see how it is. Your suggestion made me smile, Gwenisgreat1!

The happy news from Marydoll was a joy to read. Well done to your DGD1, GrannySomerset! She should ignore the adverse comments - that is becoming an unpleasant, annual pastime. Students (and teachers) can’t win! And congratulations also to your DGD, gillgran and your stepGD, Nannytopsy.

I know just what you mean about singing lifting spirits, madeleine! A lot of rusty voices around after months of silence!

Scentia: we shall all be thinking of you going through this very worrying time. So sad after your lovely time together. Please update us when you feel like sharing. An excellent motto from Grandmajean!

I’d better get a wiggle on as I have an early dental appointment for an awkward filling which I'm told will take 1.5hours so I’m not relishing that!

Have as good a day as possible! ???

Greyduster Wed 11-Aug-21 07:38:27

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The trip to London sounds good, Mick, get them in while you can! Dry in South Yorkshire with high cloud clearing but I hope not as hot as yesterday as we still have the back garden to finish licking into shape. Yesterday we had a walk down the back lane and picked two pounds of blackberries which are now in the freezer. A lot are not yet ripe, so joys to come! While we were picking, a lady came past with her dog and said “What time shall I come round for my crumble?”?. I may have a go at making blackberry jam again this year. Last year’s was a disaster because I overcooked it and it set so solid in the jars that we couldn’t spoon it out!!
Whatever your plans for the day, have a good one!

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright and hopefully no rain in the forecast. DH has been cleaning our block paving driveway and is now at the final stage of brushing in the fine sand so he’s hoping it stays dry today. That’ll be another job ticked off our outside to do list.
Sounds like you’re making good progress grandmattie good to get the things done ?
Today I’m off to the gym for the Aqua class, my friend will be there too so we’ll do lunch and a chat afterwards. That should pass most of the afternoon.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Scentia Wed 11-Aug-21 07:48:11

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the sun has got his hat on.
No reports yet today from the Covid house but it seems all 4 of them have it. They obviously haven’t tested the children but it is obvious to them.
Even though DGS has it he seems to be running around like a nutcase and DSiL is reluctant to help DD out as usual! He is obviously much more ill than she is and cannot possibly get out of bed. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and leave it be?
Take care everyone and stay safe ❤️

Pittcity Wed 11-Aug-21 07:51:06

Good morning from a brightening Colchester. Another warm, dry day.

Wednesday morning coffee meetup as usual.

Must get a load of washing on the line before I go out. Ironing this afternoon.

Hugs all round x

Marydoll Wed 11-Aug-21 07:54:00

Good morning all from a cloudy and dark Glasgow. We have rain predicted, so stripping the bed is on hold. I dislike washing lying about the house, Mr MD’s golf stuff is still drying off from Monday! ?

Grandmattie, I think it’s probably best not to try and name everyone who posts their news, I don't even try. Invariably someone get missed out and that can be very hurtful, if a person is vulnerable. Knowing I had unintentionally offended someone would upset me greatly. sad
I leave addressing everyone’s news to the lovely Kitcheners, who seem to have great memories and who do that exceptionally well

However, that doesn’t mean I don’t mention those who particularly need support that day. I haven’t been able to stop thinking and praying for Scentia’s daughter and family. What a terrible situation to be in.
Also I feel for Ashcombe, who has had so many disappointments in her desire to be reunited with Oldudders.
Not mentioning others, doesn't mean that I don't care about everyone else.

I start with some good news. Baby A was allowed home last night, after his keyhole surgery on Monday. Such a relief for all his family.

We had a great day with Dollie. I think she may become a teacher or a Time and Motion expert. She arrived with a precise timetable of her day in her head and left, leaving papa lying down in a darkened room, after totally organising our day.
Gran of course, being a woman, did not lie down and found that inner strength and resilience, we have, to make it through the day! The added bonus was I never stopped all day and the activities greatly increased my daily steps! grin. A win, win situation! wink

Last night, we received a video fromDIL , of Dollie doing an impersonation of me fretting and begging papa to save her, as she back flipped off the monkey bars. She had me down to a T, even the flapping hands, stock phrases and intonation of my voice! Do I really sound like that??????

Sending my very best wishes to all, who are struggling on here with pain, sorry and the daily burden of supporting loved ones, with little respite. ? That includes the many, who read and don't post, but find comfort from the friendship on here.

Have a good day, whatever your plans.

Susan56 Wed 11-Aug-21 07:54:41

Good morning from sunny Shropshire.

DD1 had her first day back in actual work in two years yesterday after maternity leave and home working. We had an exhausting day looking after the children!?

Well done to all the grandchildren on their A level results??my daughters did theirs nearly 20 years ago and even then people made disparaging comments? My elder daughter lectures at uni and says A levels are more difficult than a degree!

Hope you had a lovely day yesterday Mary with Dollie.

Today we are going to Stafford to see DD2 and family. We see them weekly in term time but have only seen them a couple of times over the last month.B apparently keeps picking up our photo and saying I miss them!

Hoping olddudders and all unwell have a more comfortable day.

Have a good day all??

ginny Wed 11-Aug-21 07:56:26

Good morning all from a slightly cloudy .
I have a cake to deliver for a local museum fund raiser otherwise nothing special planned for today. Will see what turns up or how I feel.
Hope you all find a smile in your day.

Grandmabatty Wed 11-Aug-21 08:01:16

Good morning all. Polmont has grey skies this morning and rain is forecast. Ashcombe good luck at the dentist. That's a marathon of an appointment! Scentia poor wee family. I hope they are all okay.
Yesterday ended up much sunnier than expected. We visited the fish man, the boy wonder blethered to the usual customer and the fish man. Then went to the park to feed the ducks, run races (his poor grandma) and play in the sand etc in the playpark. Back home and it was playing with water in the garden and arranging his cars in straight lines. I took him in after a while as the sun got fierce, and we played with squishy(playdough), making snakes and trains. No nap unfortunately, but a quiet hour watching Thomas the tank engine then home.
Today I have a mammogram this morning then I'll visit mum. Later on a WhatsApp chat with friends. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from a sunny S Hants. A very productive day gM, makes me feel quite slovenly. I have books to donate too Beechnut, our local community hall takes them, so I’ll try there.
Ugh, dentist Ash, best of luck, here’s hoping ou back improves soon too.
I did my first voluntary drive yesterday for 18 months or so, good to be back; today I ‘man’ the phone for them. I’ll get a quick wash on beforehand, it’s so much easier with the decent weather.
This evening we’re off to cricket, part of the 100 series at the Ageas bowl, plenty of food stalls, so no cooking tonight ?.
Have a pleasant day all, thoughts with those on a bumpy road, May it smooth out soon x

baubles Wed 11-Aug-21 08:12:43

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where the sun has forgotten to come out to play.

Yesterday was glorious, my sister and I had a lovely walk around my little town. She was quite taken aback by the fact that neither the cafe (which had the best home baking) nor the fruit shop have a card machine so it’s strictly cash only. grinThat’s country living for you. She’s off home to London today so we’ll wave her off at the station later, it was good to see her but I must admit I find myself looking forward to having my own space again.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day, as always.

Anniebach Wed 11-Aug-21 08:16:08

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

harrigran Wed 11-Aug-21 08:16:53

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Nurse turned up yesterday, last time they visited in May they said " see you next week ", so only a few months late. I am not proud but I really gave her both barrels for the stress and anguish we have been through. She told me she was deputising for someone else and she did agree with my complaints. We had been struggling with prescriptions, our pharmacy was insisting on seeing DH in person, nurse sorted that and rang me yesterday to say that they would deliver the drug to the house. I live in hope but previous promises of help never really materialised.
DD came with the shopping and we had a lovely afternoon chatting, she is on holiday until the end of the month.
DS started a phased return to work yesterday, the family go on holiday this weekend so a short week for him.
No appointments or visitors today so I may get the washing done, I like to get it done and ironed all in one day.
Thinking of all those with worries.

Gelisajams Wed 11-Aug-21 08:19:12

Good morning from a dull Morecambe Bay. A late get up this morning as we were home late last night after working in Keswick. We used the fact we were there to have an evening stroll but it took us nearly 3 hours to get home most of it spent in a gridlocked Keswick.
It’s Mr G’s birthday today. I retrieved his present late last night from the Amazon locker. He wondered where I shot off too the minute we arrived home. I muttered something about being back in a minute! I’ve bought him a monocular which I thought may be easier on his walks than binoculars round his neck. It can be attached to his phone to take pictures but I can’t see him doing that.
Hope all is well in the Scentia Covid house and nothing too nasty develops.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Gingster Wed 11-Aug-21 08:19:43

Good morning and it’s a bit of this and a bit if that sort of day.⛅️.
We spent yesterday getting back to normal after the family weekend. I was so tired in the evening I kept nodding off ???. My friend who is in her ‘lodge’ at the campsite up the beach phoned to ask us along for a coffee, but I actually declined politely . I just wanted a quiet day. I think she understood. ?. We’ve known her and her dh for 47 years. It’s easy to be honest with old friends. ?. They live near us in Essex , so will see them soon.

Scentia - of course your SIL is more poorly than the rest of the family. ?. I hope they feel better soon. ?.

Marydoll I’m so glad you enjoyed your day with Dolly. I have a gd the same age. They are so funny and so clever!
Good news about the little baby. ?

Good wishes to you all ?

cornergran Wed 11-Aug-21 08:22:06

Morning Mick, morning All. Heavy grey cloud over our corner of Somerset. Hope it clears, laundry to do.

Our replacement car will be back with the dealership tomorrow, we discovered unacceptable bodywork issues, it will spend the day in the body shop and hopefully be returned to us looking smarter. To say I’m disappointed is a huge understatement.

Other than that we jog along. Venturing to a supermarket today then some general catching up to do.

Take care everyone. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Grandmajean Wed 11-Aug-21 08:43:24

I am late today ! Still slobbing in bed with a cuppa ( made by me for both of us - DH could sleep for Britain )
DS took me on a guided tour last night to the football field where I am collecting DGS this afternoon. He knows I am perfectly capable of not being able to find it from verbal instructions. My lack of geography skills is a family joke. When I remarked "What would I do without you ?" His response was
"Lots of very silly things "
Ashcombe I wish I was as good at following my pithy mottos as advising others to do so.
You are rightMarydoll that it is so hard to try and remember to mention all posters in a message but that doesn't mean they are forgotten.
Will come back and read all messages later.
Have to take my cat to the vet later. He has an ongoing mouth problem that he has had from the time we got him ( rescued cat ) but the surgery is insisting that I bring him in and won't prescribe the usual meds without seeing him even though it's only a couple of months since I took him. Could have done without that trip.
The " crazy, homeless Princess" is having a couple of sleepovers at her other grandparents'. I can imagine the traveling outfit ! Sometimes it includes long lacy gloves that came free with a comic !
Oh to be six years old and totally confident in your impeccable taste .
Wishing all a good day.

GrannySomerset Wed 11-Aug-21 08:49:38

Another day with a disastrous start (washing machine going yet again but at least we have one) so am reduced to gibbering fury and frustration before I have even had a cup of tea. Things can only get better, I suppose.

Nothing planned but life will happen to create activity even if it’s unwelcome. Skies are grey but no rain is forecast so bedding can dry outside. Recycling and rubbish bins have been emptied so we are luckier than many as some authorities are really struggling to find drivers; the current shortage really demonstrates the law of unintended consequences with Brexit and COVID creating such a demand for HGV drivers.

Alizarin Wed 11-Aug-21 08:49:55

Good morning from a brightish south Cornwall. Mick, I wish I could get to London that easily and cheaply! I miss the galleries and general buzz and the Youth Hostel near Regent Street.

Almost 'snap' grandmaFrench; our Red Arrows will be dashing around the bay here this evening. One year when they came I was camping on the outskirts of the town and one of their planes came over so low I could see the pilot's face.

A restful day, I'm tired after a fortnight of family activities. Am reading a book about the container ships and their crew, who work so hard to bring us most of the stuff we buy. Very interesting.

The pic is of someone on their way to work. I've posted this previously but it always makes me smile.

The best of days to all of you.

Mapleleaf Wed 11-Aug-21 08:50:04

Good morning all,

Greyduster has our forecast to a tee. It did, indeed get very warm yesterday, but agree that if the high cloud remains today, it won’t get quite so warm.

If I motivate myself enough, and it doesn’t get too warm, the grass needs another trim - as I said last week, all these heavy rain showers have just made it put on another growth spurt!

Don’t worry about not remembering everyone who has posted, grandMattie - there’s so many of us posting that it’s nigh on impossible to remember each and everyone, but your good wishes will be accepted by all who post, I’m sure ?.

So pleased to hear that your friends GC continues to make good progress, Marydoll and is now home.

Take care everyone.
