Muse I missed the hammock. I would love one but I am afeared I might get stuck in it!

soop Thu 26-Aug-21 16:35:32

annsixty When sweets were on ration a gang of pals shared a penny gobstopper with me. hmm

Blossoming Ditto. I loved doing the same thing with a jar of Horlicks.
Lovely photograph. Thank you.

Greetings to Mapleleaf sunshine

Grandmafrench (hugs)

We called into see pals at lunchtime. Stayed ages. Now running a bit late.

Almost forgot to mention that Sweetie Pie (feral cat) stayed for supper last evening. Three pouches of finest gourmet cat food, a long loll on the utility room mat, a wash and brush-up and then...ta ta.

The computer is behaving strangely. Every so often I'm presented with the message that begins with "Oops..."
To which I respond with !%$&!!* or words to that effect.
Also, we've had what we believe to be a phishing phone call regarding the misuse of one our credit cards.
Mr Soop felt uneasy during the conversation and rang off.

As a result, I shall log off and hope that service will be resumed in time for my visit to the kitchen tomorrow.

All good wishes to all of our kitcheners. smile moon

Hello kitchen.Arrived safely at old oaks Glastonbury. The weather is lovely and DH is enjoying his birthday in the sunshine. We have our own garden with fire pit and bird table, lots of robins around.
Love your hammock Muse but not sure if I could get in it!
Enjoy your evening everyone.

Fennel Thu 26-Aug-21 17:41:27

Grandmabatty - coincidence - I made the effort to do some weeding yesterday too. And revealed some lovely crocosmia. or is it montbretia? I sat on a small light stool and managed not to tumble over on my face!
Eldest daughter is coming for the day on Sunday and I was hoping she would do a bit in the garden (selfish of me) but she fell off her bike a couple of weeks ago and fractured a bone in her elbow. she's always been a risk taker but now at 50+ she has to be more careful but doesn't want to know.
We're still missing our 2 sons who live in Thailand and SE India - wondering if we'll ever see them again sad.
We're all so involved with our families who are parts of our identities throughout our lives.
Younger daughter who lives in Hull called in with her husband 2 weeks ago and we never stopped talking!
I can't keep up with the news of the rest of you .

Grandmabatty Thu 26-Aug-21 17:59:51

Fennel I am not sure what it is! It grows profusely though. When I moved into my bungalow three years ago, I got the garden all landscaped. The gardener pulled out masses of crocosmia which made me happy as I wasn't keen. Lo and behold, a lovely lovely neighbour brought me plants for a new bed and one was a massive crocosmia! She even dug it in. I didn't have the heart to refuse. It's now a real feature of my front garden. I'll look up the other plant you mentioned. Soop definitely best hanging up. There are so many scams these days.

All jobs done. A very up and down day. Orders in action for delivery next week. Fetching and some carrying done with MrM. Never got in the hammock till half an hour ago. It's very easy to get in and fairly easy to get out of soop, Yiaand Grandmabatty. There's a bar that keeps the hammock open whilst you park your bum and then put your legs in.

I remember in the 1950's my gran taking me for a treat at a little cafe in Romford. They had a horlick's making machine and served it up in a tall glass with lots of froth.

?*Grandmafrench*?
Happy Birthday to MrYia. What a fantastic spot.
Peaceful tranquil photo. Thank you Blossoming.
Good news about both our sons Jax.

Watching the final hours of the sun. No drink yet but there soon will be. Have a peaceful evening, one and all.

Urmstongran Thu 26-Aug-21 19:30:55

‘Evening All’. Up from the gardens. Himself went to watch the Rangers game in a bar with his friend out here - he lives here but hails from Glasgow. I sat sunning myself (occasionally), reading and had a dip in the pool about 5pm. The water wasn’t cold as the hot sun had been on it all day. Very relaxing!

I’m showered now, enjoying a cuppa on the balcony. It’s still warm. I’m in a old, soft maxi dress, black - which doesn’t reveal I’ve gone commando. No cava or wine tonight. I’m sure my liver will be grateful. And no fine dining either. Scrambled eggs and baked beans. Actually just what I fancy after eating out so frequently lately! Eat your heart out Nigella.

Jaxjacky Thu 26-Aug-21 19:53:06

Blossoming what a peaceful picture, I can almost imagine it.
MrYia looks like a happy chap on his birthday Yia, many happy returns ?.
With Urms talk of going commando I’ve just imagined soop and Grandmabatty in full camouflage gear, hacking through jungle in their gardens!
Here is said son muse with the rest of the family, we had a lovely meal out, but after about 7’ish, the sun went behind clouds and it was a touch chilly.
Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone x

brook2704 Thu 26-Aug-21 20:15:27

That picture in my mind of soop and grandmabatty in full camouflage gear the jungle really made me chuckle Jaxj ! ??

brook2704 Thu 26-Aug-21 20:31:48

Wishing your DH a very Happy Birthday yia

Well today didn’t go as planned - I should have spent it with DH doing some work in the garden but DD2 messaged asking for help and advice so everything changed of course. She’s recently got a new job and has been working from home but next week she gets to meet her new boss and colleagues face to face for the first time. She’s trying her best to make a good impression but hasn’t got any suitable business type clothes to wear, so we’ve been traipsing around the shops all afternoon trying to get something sorted. She’s a bit self conscious and doesn’t think she looks nice in anything so it’s not an easy task. But we got some things to try - let’s see what needs to go back tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a lovely evening, will pop back later as we’ve got salmon and salad just about ready to tuck into ?

Doodle Thu 26-Aug-21 20:57:09

soop your rock cakes were the best I’ve ever come across. Never found anything better for propping open doors ?
muse I too would like a go in your hammock. Does it come with a handsome young man waving a palm leaf over you and a cocktail with an umbrella? ?
Happy birthday to your DH Yiayia looks like a lovely spot.
Ooh urms you norty lady. Going commando indeed. May the breeze be with you I say ?
jax looks like a nice family get together.
brook hope your DD gets in well in her new job and likes it there.
Take care all.
Anyone heard from Galen recently?

Urmstongran Thu 26-Aug-21 21:10:02

Hi Doodle ?
No waft of a breeze here. My secret is safe.

Grandmabatty Thu 26-Aug-21 21:19:00

Doodle you're the norty one! I resemble Arnie in camouflage gear in the Film 'Predator'. I'm practising my arm clenches right now.

Blossoming Thu 26-Aug-21 21:31:31

Mr. B and I are watching the film ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ about an alien invasion. There’s a 50ft robot in Centhral Park. Are those rock cakes any good for throwing, perhaps in a trebuchet?

annodomini Thu 26-Aug-21 22:08:51

I got home yesterday after nearly a week in Scotland. Lovely to see my sister and BiL after 18 months - nephews, niece, great nieces and nephews too. It seemed a shame to have to leave in lovely sunshine which lasted until the train rolled into Manchester! We were about 20 minutes late reaching Manchester Piccadilly so I had missed my connection to my home station. However, by a remarkable stroke of luck, a train for a reasonably close station arrived and I jumped aboard, ordered a taxi to meet me on arrival and was home just as soon as I should have been!
Much seems to have happened here in my absence and I haven't caught up yet. If soop's rock cakes are anything like my granny's, I'll pass on them. Granny made hers with rocks...yes, really! I think we once made them at school, though I believe they were meant to be scones.

Doodle Thu 26-Aug-21 22:45:43

grandmabatty and urms ??? beware of drafts Urms

BladeAnnie Thu 26-Aug-21 23:06:14

Just popping in to say goodnight - sleep well and welcome back Urmstongran ?

fatgran57 Fri 27-Aug-21 07:26:59

Thank you for your kind welcome Soop. I do enjoy reading the posts and people are nice and easy going and often very funny.

I received a PM today from a member which was unexpected and quite disconcerting to be honest.

I will try to not let it get to me too much.

Best regards to all from Tasmania flowers

Jaxjacky Fri 27-Aug-21 08:12:41

fatgran57 I would report the pm and block the sender, that’s nasty and unnecessary.

Nannytopsy Fri 27-Aug-21 08:27:48

Hasn’t someone else had an odd PM about a massage recently? Report it fatgran.

Charleygirl5 Fri 27-Aug-21 09:23:17

Nannytopsy that was me getting that weird PM offering a massage. I reported it but silence is golden. Thankfully no more PMs.
Beautiful sunshine in London, not forecast so I must go out and enjoy it.
TOYA

muse Fri 27-Aug-21 09:37:53

Don’t reply. Please report it fatgran57 and as Jax said block them.

Blossoming Fri 27-Aug-21 09:45:15

Good morning lovely Kitcheners. Nice to see you in here Fatgran, I would report any unpleasant pms and block the sender. Can’t have troublemakers in soop’s safe and supportive kitchen. I’m still in bed, drinking tea, as we were up late last night. I’m stiff and sore yesterday’s mini hike so need to do some stretches and relaxation to get moving. The sun is shining and the birds are singing so I shall get up now and enjoy them.

Happy Birthday to Urmstongran in sunny Malaga.

Grandmabatty Fri 27-Aug-21 10:15:21

Happy birthday to*Urmstongran*. Enjoy your trip. I've been out and bought a couple of birthday presents. The sun has broken through, although it's still only 12° so cool out. Some pottering and then a Tesco delivery due later. Dgs might visit after the playgroup. He didn't go in well and was sobbing. However it's something that he will have to work through and get used to.
