Morning soop and fellow kitcheners.

I have been popping in to see what’s going on, lovely pictures.

It’s been chaotic at Gravy Grange eldest AC and wife were able to quarantine at our home on their return from Kenya, which was lovely. This coincided with DD and her boys moving in whilst they home hunt (very unhappy in current home, noisy neighbours, not conducive to getting The Imp sleeping well). Thank goodness we have not downsized ?

I am saddened that two posters are leaving, GN will miss them both.

I will endeavour to keep up with all the comings and going’s of this friendly oasis of calm that is dear soops kitchen ?‍♀️

Gorgeous day here. The sun has suddenly appeared.
Driving MrM to the doctors in 10 mins to have his dressings changed. He’s taken his painkillers and will be instructed to rest when we get back. ?

Just dropped in to say hello. Just back from hospital where I was discharged from the fracture clinic. Legbrace off and weightbearing to commence. Eek! Cannot articulate fully my gratitude to the NHS staff who treated me. I am sorry I have not read any posts but will go back now. I hope all is as good as possible for all kitcheners. Just thanked the good morningers for raising my spirits over the past few months and I thank you too.

Excellent news Dogsmakemesmile. Have you got physio? I hope MrMuse survived the dressing change. It all sounds really painful. Dgs arrived from playgroup a happy boy. He just has to get over leaving mummy at the door. Tesco delivery imminent.

I just wish to say something just this once...when I opened the kitchen, several years ago, I hoped that it would be a welcoming and supporting forum. Nothing fancy. Just straight forward exchanges of the sort of stuff that most of us are familiar with. The highs, the lows and the inbetweens. All that I asked is that we treat each other with respect. If that is too much to hope for, I am sorry. There are countless forums. Ours is for friendship. Enough said.

My dear son mentioned yesterday they can’t plumb the washing machine in to their new abode so muggins…..sorry, Mum, said I’d do some today. 6, yes 6, machine loads, then the sun went on strike about 11am. I’ve had the heating on, it’s like a sauna, not all dry, so a friend of theirs has just taken the lot, dry and needing dried to put the damp stuff in his tumble drier. That was my day! Apart from my friend coming home imminently from hospital, she’s so happy, not all resolved, but happy!
MrJ about to go to pub, I have to await txt from son to collect a drill he was lent before they go on holiday tomorrow, honestly. I’ll deserve my ? tonight.

We had home grown carrots at lunchtime …

About time for me to log off until tomorrow.
Before I do, I would like to believe that the very large spider that has been "put outside" in a safe place, will not pay us another visit. First of all, it ran across the cushion of my chair as I stood up. Secondly, it decorated the bathroom wall with it eight hairy legs spread widely. Third visit...on the bedroom wall, fell behind a stool, was lifted up by an obliging Mr Soop and given some fresh air.
I believe that it is one and the same spider. Hard to be certain. I have an irrational fear of such creatures. I refuse to kill them. BUT...please, leave me in peace. It's not too much to ask.

For those of you who remember grandson, "Wee Man" Torben, here is a pic of him with long hair prior to having it cut in readiness for big school.

soop I do hope you managed to get some rest today. I agree with you, I would leave a spider to go where it fancied but I would never kill one.

I joined the kitchen not long after it opened because I was being bullied so nastiness is not new on other threads.

‘Evening All’.

Thank you so much for all your sweet messages wishing me a happy birthday! I’ve had the most wonderful day up in delightful Mijas. Tell you what though, it’s very QUIET! Hardly any visitors. Must be like Spain was 30y ago before the tourist explosion. Bet some of the older residents are delighted. But the younger ones, maybe not so much? They have businesses to run - bars, shops, restaurants.

We went to my favourite restaurant at 3pm. Inside was EMPTY! We were the only diners in the cool space and the staff made such a fuss of us (did you peeps tell them it was my birthday?). Outside, under the awning, at this time of year one would usually be hard pressed to secure a table for drinks and tapas on a Friday in August. But today? Take your pick. Several empty tables. Covid has indeed much to answer for.

We have a surfeit of courgettes so I made a courgette and lime cake for everyone filled with homemade lime curd.
