Just popping to say a quick hello. I’m down with my pregnant daughter for three days. It’s been full-on, bringing stuff from our house down to hers, wrangling with the 3yo GD - managed to get her hair washed this morning without too much protest.

Dd showed me the lovely gifts she’s been given from her work for the baby, who will be well-clad in its first year! She’s a very lucky mum, people are so kind.

Waiting for Dh to arrive now and then off out lunch which I hope will involve cake. cupcake

Grandmabatty Fri 17-Sept-21 12:06:26

It is morning (just) as I write this post. ? To Soop, Susan and anyone else who needs a bouquet. Urmstongran I'm a big fan of Steinbeck but he isn't cheery! The ending of The Grapes of Wrath upset me for ages. East of Eden is a good novel too. Blossoming that necklace is absolutely beautiful. I'm sorry if I've missed anyone out, but I'm using my phone and can't easily go back and forward.
I'm babysitting the boy wonder while dd and sil go by to the hospital. It's her 28 weeks scan and a glucose test. Her blood pressure is up slightly but they aren't worried. The boy wonder is very quiet after playgroup but that won't last! Until later.

muse Fri 17-Sept-21 11:26:34

Good Morning from a watery sunny Cornwall.

Susan56 Sorry to read of your health problems but hope all goes well with the appointments.

soop Please keep those photos of Willow coming. Such gorgeousness.

GrannyGravy13 Don't feel out of the loop. I see the kitchen as always having an open door. I'm sure soop keeps a wedge under it so she can keep an eye on us all. I also see it as a massive room where I can wander around and go back over time looking for missed news. The other night I was re-reading all the fun from soop's 80th birthday bash here.

Blossoming Beautiful pendant and excellent craftsmanship. You sound so positive ?

brook2704 Thank you for the photos. They made want to have a wandering day. I've just bought a membership for Heligan Gardens so that will make me take time off.

BladeAnnie Do you plan to keep a few petals? They are beautiful roses.

Very tired today and happier than yesterday. Had a long call from DD last night. She had to ring 111 again early yesterday morning and had been at the hospital all day. Lots of tests this time. Again they found nothing wrong but the trauma doctor had a chat to her about the HRT she's been on for two weeks. Suggested she stopped taking it and saw the doctor. Before she could ring this morning, she had a call from the surgery to go in. Seeing a doctor. Yes. I await news. I hope the HRT gets sorted as she needs something to help her through menopause.

The weather may interrupt the slab cleaning and 1st and 2nd coats of sealing solution. They have to dry in between.

Mya is chomping at the bit for a walk. She's very good and is not complaining too much about being on the long lead outside. She has to be content to watch the squirrels instead of chasing them - until the slabs are dry.

Sending a text today to spur my DS to ring this weekend. Well over a month since our last chat. Want him to hear how much I love him.

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 17-Sept-21 11:20:01

Is TOYA thinking of you all? In wish case I often TOYA.

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 17-Sept-21 11:17:26

Thinking of you Susan56. Good morning to you and all kitcheners. Dry here. A wash on. Tea made (chickpea and vegetable curry ) and flapjacks attempted. I added cinnamon. Have cleaned bathroom and attacked the kitchen surfaces. Both DDs seem to be ok. One can stop self isolating tomorrow. However big they are they become toddlers in my head whenever they are ill. I am going to tackle The Cupboard Under The Stairs later. For years (about twenty five) I have not watched television. Not some sort of moral response. Practical reasons (studying in the evening/working
shifts) .I discovered iplayer this year. Last night I watched Happy Valley . Wow. Appreciate I must seem odd/antediluvian. So lovely to have a little escape.

BladeAnnie Thu 16-Sept-21 22:01:41

Just popping in quickly to say goodnight. Susan please let us know if we can help. I'm sure I speak for everyone - we are always here. Soop how adorable is Willow? I love the name too. I'm pleased you all liked seeing DD2 as a bride and here are some of the wedding flowers she brought me yesterday. Lovely ?. Goodnight everyone - hope you all sleep well ??

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Sept-21 21:48:53

A new diagnosis is always scary Susan56, hopefully your subsequent information will help you feel a little more in control. Blossoming amazing craftwork, the patience to produce such a delightful piece, I’d be very proud, I hope you are too.
Our last day, I caught the sun yesterday, only cream we had in the boot of the car, factor 15, better than nothing, it cooled today after 4. MrJ played golf, again, with our friend today as I walked with his OH and their labs, it was so lovely to see our friends after 2 years. MrJ and I nipped out for some food, the sun was setting, the picture is no way as stunning as the pictures soop views regularly. We are both abed, off home tomorrow after a glorious few days, both satisfying tired, there’s something about the sea air.
muse fingers crossed for your DD. Night all x.

Urmstongran Thu 16-Sept-21 21:20:51

We’re back home. I’m very full after my large plate of dinner.
?

I saw the photo of the necklace you’d made Blossoming and had to come back on to say how pretty it is. You are clever and must have great patience! It’s lovely.

Blossoming Thu 16-Sept-21 20:38:05

Sorry to hear yet another issue has hit on you Susan, hope you are being well looked after and supported by those involved in your care. A new diagnosis is often alarming, but it helps to know all the options.

Willow is gorgeous soop what a lovely smile.

Thanks all for the kind comments on my craft work. After 3 years of various medical problems and lockdowns, etc, I’m seeing a light ahead.

brook2704 Thu 16-Sept-21 20:13:26

How cute is baby Willow soop and I love that the picture says she is 12 weeks old - that’s gone quickly!
Sorry to hear you’ve some health issues Susan hopefully things will improve and remember we’re all on here to offer support as and when needed
I’ve had quite a busy day been out and about in town, it’s been a lovely sunny afternoon so I enjoyed a walk by the river and then I went into the botanical gardens. I really enjoy visiting there and it was lovely sitting in the sunshine. The pictures are of the glasshouse. Later I met DH and we watched DGS play football and took DGD to the park next to the footy field. Just picked up a quick pizza for tea and settling down now.
Love the picture of the pulpit GG13 I’d really like to visit Sandringham sometime.

Doodle Thu 16-Sept-21 19:51:31

Lovely baby soop so smiley.
susan sorry you’ve had upsetting news. It takes a while to get to grips with a new diagnosis. Hope all will be well for you.
MrSoop is doing a sterling job . Hope the GP sits up and takes note. You shouldn’t have to go through all this soop.
That’s very pretty Blossoming
Any news on a name for the new arrival Maw .
TOYA ?

Susan56 Thu 16-Sept-21 19:35:21

Thank you for your kind words.Urms, I have spoken to a dr and consultant and am feeling much more positive.Have a few appointments on the calendar too which has helped.

Yia,hope the wait isn’t as long as you fear??

soop, Mr S is being very supportive too.We are very lucky with our husbands☺️Gorgeous picture of Willow?

GrannyGravy, the pulpit is very impressive.Norfolk is on our list of UK holiday destinations so will put Sandringham on our list of places to visit.

Blossoming, your jewellery project is beautiful. So skillful.

Baggs Thu 16-Sept-21 18:53:43

That's lovely, Blossoming!

Blossoming Thu 16-Sept-21 18:21:36

Good evening lovely Kitcheners, just a quick visit as I will need to catch up with you all later. I have finished the last 2 cupboards! Dusted, cleaned, moth proofed as necessary. One load gone to the tip, one load gone to the charity shop and anything useful neatly put away.

After that I finally sat down to finish my jewellery project. There’s a fine art to stone setting- making sure stone and setting are exactly the right size to snap together, then burnishing the setting to hold the stone securely. Mass made jewellery sometimes uses glue, but we do it the proper way here grin. It’s made doubly difficult by the shaky wonky hand, so I work slowly and get there in the end. It’s so satisfying, and I feel quietly proud of this achievement. I’m exhausted now, Mr. B is organising dinner so will pop back later. TOYA

Urmstongran Thu 16-Sept-21 18:09:11

‘Evening All’.

We’ve enjoyed a walk on a beautiful sunny afternoon with tapas in a favourite bar. Home now, showered and going downstairs to Juan’s bar to eat dinner. I fancy pork fillet with chorizo and pepper sauce and a baked potato.

The weather here is gorgeous. Hot but with a light breeze.

I’ve just finished ‘Grapes of Wrath’. It was an excellent read. It made me Google stuff about the American Dust Bowl in the 30’s.

Thanks for the welcome back Susan56. I’m back to find other posters (quite a few really) have gone AWOL!

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been spooked by a medical diagnosis. I hope you feel calmer now and that treatment is available for you.

soop Thu 16-Sept-21 17:07:22

Yiayia I sympathise with you. The long wait is a buggeration when you are in need of surgery. I trust that the pain killers will be man enough to give you relief in between time.
I like Magnum a lot.

A splendid pulpit, GrannyGravy13. I'm glad that I don't have the job of polishing it.

Mr Soop is continuing to be hugely supportive. Before I awoke this morning, he had composed an in-detail letter to our GP which he intends delivering by hand tomorrow. In it, he has summarised the development of the prolapse over the last ten years. It is now interferes with my daily life in such a way that I would welcome a colostomy if it was offered. Thank you for allowing me to vent. Talking matters over with you lot helps enormously.

Time to log off. We expect and hope to have Sweetie Pie (feral cat) visit for a banquet at breakfast time tomorrow. It is an uplifting moment for both of us when she waits outside her apartment and strolls into the utility room.

Virtual hugs for every one of you special peoples. smile moon

Yiayia4 Thu 16-Sept-21 15:48:02

What a lovely smiling baby Soop
Sorry to hear your new Susan thinking of you?

Sending you all mint magnums enjoy?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Sept-21 15:45:53

We got back from our North Norfolk adventure last evening, today I have been washing and shopping…

The photo is of the ornate pulpit of the church next to Sandringham House, we spent several hours wondering the gardens and then visiting the house.

I will endeavour to catch up with your news (I am not sure that I am ever truly in the loop of kitchen news)

Congratulations Maw on your new GC, BA your DD looked beautiful on her wedding day, Willow has definitely got the smile of a little heartbreaker soop , and McSoop needs a mention for organising you.

Susan56 we are here for you if you need to share ?
