dustyangel^Free spirited^ Spock is a very lucky doggy friend. Isn't it lovely when an animal knows where to call for food and tender loving care. If I had pots of cash, I would spend my days caring for neglected animals. It would make me happy beyond words.

Susan Our Henry has the face of an angel. He is such a bonny boy. This photograph deserves to be enlarged and framed. Beautiful!

I am sending love to all our kitcheners. I'm about to do the ironing and hopefully catch some snooker at the same time.

Until we meet again tomorrow. smile moon

What lovely photos kitcheners! Dsil is on night shift so I had another visit from dd and dgs. I don't mind as it's nice to have company. Housework day today too and I'm half watching You've got mail as I'm a Tom Hanks fan. Roast chicken for dinner with a million vegetables. Take care all.

soop this is our free spirited doggy friend Spock. He visits when he feels in need of a decent meal! He also manages to appear when we have been out for a meal and Saturdays mean lunch at the local ‘snack-bar’. DH says that he has to have lamb chops because Spock likes them! The portion of eight lamb chops mean that he can leave quite a bit of meat on the bones for Spock. Each one being chonked into three pieces as they do here means a whole bowl of bones.
Before and after photos.

Good afternoon everyone,We are having a relaxing day after three days of childcare.

Blossoming,I hope you and your husband are recovering from the shock of the dog attack. It’s very admirable of the neighbour to take the dog in but if he can’t control it it needs to be with the dog warden,Thank goodness your husband wasn’t badly hurt?

I have hopefully attached a picture of Henry at his Christening a few weeks ago.So many of you gave our family such tremendous support when he was so ill and I thought on what has been such a sad week for so many it would be nice to share(with my daughters permission) a picture of him looking so well.He is back in hospital on Tuesday but hopefully he will get a good report??

Even when I don’t post I really do think of you all often.Hopefully after next week things will settle down and I will be better at keeping up.

TOYA?

Hellogirl It is amazing what some places are looking for to rehome a cat. I live in a cul de sac with 2 flats and 16 houses and I was turned down before I chose Tara because I was too close to the road. I have a rear garden and 3 bedrooms for the cat to choose to snooze but obviously it was not good enough.
Billy fell on all 4 paws when you found him.

Hellogirl1 Sat 21-Aug-21 15:12:35

Keep on trying CharleyG, there`ll be THE cat for you one of these days. One site turned me down because we were only 60 metres from a main road, plus we didn`t have a garden for a cat to play in. How many cats stay in their own environs all the time? But I`m glad now, because Billy is a smasher!

Charleygirl5 Sat 21-Aug-21 15:05:51

soop I am as daft as you are. Since Tara was put to sleep in January, I have been looking daily at cats online at my local CPL. I did see one I wanted but her medical problems were so long she would have cost me a fortune from day 1.

I am aware for various reasons this is not the time but it does not stop me looking daily and it is so lovely seeing a cat has been reserved and hopefully starting a new life.

soop Sat 21-Aug-21 13:50:20

Charleyg Don't tempt me. If I could, I would have a sanctuary for homeless cats/dogs/hedgehogs etc. wink

Hellogirl1 I am truly chuffed. grin

kitty Relax...and I shall peel you a grape. You seem to have far too much to think about. You can only do your best...and breathe!

Jax Good grief! A lit up Christmas tree this early. I am not a fan of such stuff. I suppose others would disagree. We are all very different. Thank goodness.

brook Slipping into pjs is one of my favourite pleasures. I usually do so after our evening meal. Bliss!

BladeAnnie Thinking of you as you enjoy the pre-wedding gathering. Make sure that you get plenty of help. It's only fair. sunshine

Charleygirl5 Sat 21-Aug-21 11:53:19

soop thanks so much. I have found another GNer with a beautiful tabby cat who I am sure would love an extra cuddle or two. I mean the cat. I am unsure where she lives but I am certain I can move between the two households and I could possibly help Fern to move in. She is getting bolder if she is popping her head around the kitchen door. Are you moving her food bowl closer indoors so she gets used to it?
TOYA

Hellogirl1 Sat 21-Aug-21 11:15:08

Thank you SO much lovely Soop, I`ve received Billy`s second picture, LOVE it!

Jaxjacky Sat 21-Aug-21 09:12:43

Crumbs kitty hectic or what and breathe!

kittylester Sat 21-Aug-21 09:02:28

Just popping in to prove that I still exist.

Life has been bonkers in Lesterland recently. Dd3 has been trying to move to a village close to us (the children deny drawing straws to decide who is going to live close enough to 'care' for us) and, over the last week, the completion date has been Friday, Monday, Wednesday and is currently a week on Monday! There is a complication in that DD3 has a ERCP booked for Tuesday.

I need a lie down just thinking about it!!

BladeAnnie Fri 20-Aug-21 22:05:23

Just popping in to say good night to everyone ?. A busy day for us tomorrow as DD2 is having a pre-wedding "gathering" here tomorrow. I'm stressing already.... ?!!

Hellogirl1 Fri 20-Aug-21 21:59:14

I`ll be on lookout for the postman Soop, that was quick!
Blossoming, I hope your husband`s arm isn`t too painful or sore. Hopefully that dog will be rehomed very soon, but the new owners need telling about the problems that go with it.
YiaYia, I didn`t have my hair coloured, gave that up last year, I had a drastic cut and a perm. The same hairdresser did it last September and I was very pleased with it, and am equally pleased this time. The big test with me is if it still looks good after a night`s sleep, and it does!

brook2704 Fri 20-Aug-21 21:14:12

Just popping into the kitchen after another busy but good day. I’m back home now from Cambridge, DH picked me up from the airport so I’m just going to get pjs on and unwind a bit before going to bed.
Sounds like you’ve had another busy day Jax - bit early though for Christmas stuff but I know the garden centres like to get in early!

Jaxjacky Fri 20-Aug-21 19:21:01

Glorious pictures soop of your grandson and great granddaughter, bet you’re chuffed.
Yia a new head of hair definitely perks you up, sounds like you needed it after the hip and knee news, gritted teeth and onwards.
I hope, in fact I’m sure, you’ll have a wonderful time when the tribe descend SueD, treasure every moment.
Ironing is just dry washing Nannytopsy if you think of it it like that, it’s not so threatening.
Busyish day, farm shop for veg, then the butcher, hoovering, bathrooms and a lot of flies around? I’ve just returned from our Friday night pub catch up, left MrJ there for a while, chicken curry in the slow cooker. Our family bbq is Sunday, it’s moved about between Saturday and Sunday because of the rain incoming.
The garden centre attached to the FS, where I bought a lupin, had a lit Christmas tree in it with associated ‘stuff’, good grief!
I bid you farewell, have a gentle evening. X

soop Fri 20-Aug-21 17:18:59

Yia That troublesome knee needs urgent attention. Us lot are rooting for you.

Sue Woopy doo dah! The family will be arriving soonish. Maintain your sense of humour. grin

Nannytopsy Don't overdo things. A little at a time...says she who has to charge forward and do everything at once. wink

Perhaps the dog is very unsettled now that it's owners have died. Such events can be traumatising for animals. However, it cannot be allowed to run amok.

I am closing down for today. It's grey and there won't be a sunset to photograph. Never mind, we shall hopefully gather again in our kitchen tomorrow. smile moon

brook2704 Fri 20-Aug-21 16:34:11

What an awful thing to happen blossoming and scary too. I hope your DHs arm isn’t too painful. Maybe the dog warden will help your neighbour to rehome the dog to somewhere more suited to it’s needs

Nannytopsy Fri 20-Aug-21 15:47:34

Hello everyone. I have been reading the goings on but it’s been a bit busy here. We are back to just us two ( plus the granddog and the decorator) and find we are falling asleep regularly! I have a mountain of washing to do, which will need ironing of course. The garden needs a couple of days on it too, including cutting the grass. DH is making a start by watering as everywhere is terribly dry again. Enough rain to stop the painting but not enough for the plants.
Lovely photos soop!
Definitely get in touch with the dog warden Blossoming. They maybe able to help with the rehoming.
Time for walkies here ?

SueDonim Fri 20-Aug-21 15:23:05

That dog attack sounds awful, Blossoming! Have you reported it to the police? At the very least, take some photos of Mr B’s injuries and tell the neighbour that you’ll report it if it happens again.

I’ve been making beds and cleaning bathrooms, ready for the first of the hunger hordes to descend on us for their holiday. Quick sit down now before going off to get a lagoon of milk and other comestibles.

Blossoming Fri 20-Aug-21 15:18:03

Thank you everyone, just sitting down for 5 minutes to catch up. I’m trying to cut my screen time as my eyes need some rest.

The neighbour was very apologetic, Mr. B complained forcefully and also pointed out if it was me it had leapt on and attacked (smaller, lighter, weaker and no balance) it would have been far more serious and a matter for the police. Heaven knows what might have happened to a small child. He does try to keep it in, but it pushed past him when he opened his door. The dog belonged to a deceased family member, but he says he’s having problems and is trying to rehome it. I’m really not happy with the situation and May speak to the dog warden and see what she suggests.

Yiayia4 Fri 20-Aug-21 15:11:44

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. It’s been a very sad week here on gransnet.
Lovely picture Soop you must be a very proud Gran.
I had my hair cut and coloured yesterday,it’s now a lot shorter and easier to cope with,it does give you lift doesn’t it Hellogirl?
I’ve had a bit of a melt down this week.Saw the orthopaedic surgeon on Wednesday. He says both hip and knee are very severe but my knee is one of the worse he’s seen? He’s going to do injections to keep me going as it’s going to be a long wait unless I pay of course!(mega bucks)? I’ve excepted it all now and in the grand scheme of things it’s minor really.
That sounds like a very vicious dog Blossoming I hope your D.H is o.k.
Have a pleasant afternoon everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 20-Aug-21 15:05:28

Good afternoon kitcheners. Blossoming that sounds very scary. As he has bitten your dh, he should tell the neighbour that the dog must be kept under control or they will be reported. Susan I hope the hurricane has settled down. I was supposed to be babysitting as dd had a pregnancy massage but it was cancelled. However they came for a visit anyway and have just gone. The boy wonder was hyper when he arrived so we went for a walk. I'm having a seat and recovering from their visit. Have a good evening

soop Fri 20-Aug-21 14:28:32

Charleygirl You are also most welcome to join us. grin

BladeAnnie I understand what you mean when you say that little ones melt your heart. sunshine

soop Fri 20-Aug-21 14:25:03

Kalu "Sweetie Pie" AKA Fern may never move in (although we said that of Rory). We feel privileged that she trusts us and uses us. She will always be welcome to visit and partake of our hospitality.
