That was lucky Teacheranne, thank goodness it was spotted before anything worse happened.

Callistemon Wed 29-Sept-21 23:38:52

Teacheranne it certainly was, best wishes

I lost a pair of glasses so booked an eye test to order new ones - it had been two years since my last test. The optician noticed a problem with one eye, did some extra tests before telling me she thought I’d had a TIA a few weeks previously. She made an instant referral to the Stroke Clinic and Ophthalmology dept. Within three weeks I’ve had both appointments, TIA confirmed and I’m on blood thinners and BP monitoring.

Had I not lost my glasses I would not have gone for an eye test which potentially could have meant more TIAs or even a stroke. Oddly, I found my glasses just last week, they had dropped down behind my car seat!

So not a happy discovery but certainly serendipity! .

^I don’t think there’s a trench coat though.^

I had two, sent them to the charity shop just before they became fashionable again.
What's the antonym of serendipity?

How great was that Urms, a real find.

We were at Malaga airport last year and I saw a leather handbag I liked. It was medium sized (big enough and solid too to fit my iPad). I’m an impulse buyer. When I see something I like I don’t compare it with what there might be in 10 different shops! Anyway I asked the assistant for one, took it to the till and discovered ‘Michael Kors’ bags were 40% off in the sale! Fab to get a bargain on something I was buying anyway! Serendipity indeed.

Finding the hidden stash of Christmas Chocolates and Biscuits and the fact they are still in date, heaven!

In my book, there's no such thing as out of date biscuits or chocolate...

Wow CurlyWhirly what a great find, and such good timing!

I know, I was chuffed to bits. It's been that long since we holidayed abroad, that I'd forgotten all about the euros ?

MayBeMaw you wouldn’t believe how long it is since these cupboards have had a really good sort out! I’m loving it, it’s been like finding a new wardrobe grin. Still got the big cupboard under the stairs to go, I’m sure I’ll find some lovely boots, I don’t think there’s a trench coat though.

Yesterday, was getting things ready for a city break abroad this weekend and looked in the box I keep the passports in and found €300, which was obviously left over from our last European holiday in 2019!

Gorgeous!
Very ‘Allo, ‘Allo!
You’re doing well with your serendipity Blossoming - would you like to try your luck here ? (optimistic)

Today, getting my winter accessories together ready for the changed weather, I found a beautiful purple cashmere beret that I bought from John Lewis about 6 years ago, and I remembered this thread It will look great with my newly silvery grey locks, feel like I need a trench coat to go with it!

This is a lovely upbeat idea for a thread, thanks OP.

When my dear old aunt died a few years back I was bereft, but it meant I got in touch with her daughter, a cousin I'd lost touch with many years ago. She and I have discovered we get on like a house on fire and it's brought such joy into my life.

When I was 16 I, along with a few other people, won a competition to sit behind The Beatles on stage as they recorded a TV show here in Birmingham. To say it was one of the best days of my life was an understatement. I was mad about them, especially George and was within a couple of feet of them on the day. The only memory was in my head.
In my late 40s I was at work and a colleague showed me a book she had bought for her DH for Christmas 'Birmingham in the 60s'. I had a flick through and there was a photo with me sitting directly behind The Fab Four! I had no idea a photo had been taken. I bought the book, contacted the author, got his permission and now I have this pic, blown up and framed in my home. I saw them live many times but have no physical mementos as they all got lost so I was thrilled.

Much more mundane than lovely perfume but we are moving house and the removal firm came to size up our sticks.
When finalising the details he read our new address, then said 'Oh, is that where you're going? I was there yesterday costing up for them. It's nice there.'
It was very reassuring to have a second opinion somehow, and also we hope that using the same company will help with a calm move.

Today I have been sorting out a high shelf that rarely gets touched. I can’t actually reach it without using my trusty folding step stool. (This lets me get in some stretching, stepping and balancing exercises at the same time!).

Right at the back I found an unopened bottle of one of my favourite perfumes. What a (much needed) lovely surprise smile
