Good Morning Everyone,
A dry but cloudy start this morning, signs that the days are getting shorter as to daylight.
Today , a quiet day in after a shop , and watch TV , I have noticed when out more people are about , but with hidden dangers still about .
Another day trip beckons tomorrow , more later on that .
Take Care,
Mick

I believe the flamingo was found, unexpectedly, in some Lego, by Iris gM? some time ago and became adopted as as a symbol of happiness, sort of. May have that totally wrong, so not cliquey Maw, just a ‘thing’ on Micksgood morning thread.

GrannySomerset Fri 20-Aug-21 09:55:56

My sympathy to oops, Ash and gM and I hope their anxieties are relieved today. A can’t make its mind up morning weather wise, and I feel very lacklustre, but need to summon up the energy to do the supermarket shop, ditched for the chance to meet some WI friends yesterday while the carer was here. A social couple of hours worked miracles and I was much nicer for it, but the kitchen resembles Mother Hubbard’s cupboard so I must make myself deal with it.

Still, good news about Iris and Dollie, so definitely the odd flamingo in sight. Not sure about Morningstars but doubtless all will be revealed.

Hola Urms glad you are ok and good to see you posting again. Looking forward to vicariously enjoying Malaga via your posts before you return home to entertain us from sunny ( sometimes ?) Manchester.

grandMattie Fri 20-Aug-21 09:49:19

Yippee Urms is back!!! We have missed you asking everyone about the price if their house..l ?

MawBe Fri 20-Aug-21 09:46:19

Really?
It sounds a bit in-jokey and cliquey to me.
I’m sure Mick has never referred to them.
OK if I ignore?

muse Fri 20-Aug-21 09:45:43

No in~joke or political reference MawBe. My friendly Morningsters is a word I’ve used for a long time. My iPhone or my big index finger gives me an a for an e. My apologies for offending and for not checking.
Must do preview in future and keep to Morningsters .

Kate54 Fri 20-Aug-21 09:42:46

I do believe it’s a mis-type so it will no doubt be explained. As for the flamingoes, they have become a Good Morning symbol of happiness and hope after one poster mentioned how seeing one somewhere (beach towel? garden centre? suddenly they’re everywhere) had cheered her up.
Here’s one from a florist’s in North Norfolk.

Marydoll Fri 20-Aug-21 09:40:43

I thought the Morning Star was a political newspaper. No politics on this thread please! wink
Maw, grin

MawBe Fri 20-Aug-21 09:16:37

I apologise if I am seen to be grumpy but where did Morningstars come from?
Is it a political reference or some other in-joke like Grammingoes I am not party to? Harrumph.

Sar53 Fri 20-Aug-21 09:14:19

Good morning all from a bright Essex by the sea. The sun is trying to come out and the sea is sparkling.

We are off to a chandlery along the coast this morning and hopefully will find somewhere nice for lunch.

Sorry to hear of all the worries and illness but good to see Urmston back in her beloved Malaga.

Have the best Friday you can everyone xxx

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 20-Aug-21 09:11:33

Good morning from a cool Scottish Borders. I am sorry so many have health worries either about themselves or within the family.
Washing on and a cupboard under the stairs blitz planned. Maybe after elevenses..
For years I worked shifts but now as I am not working I get that Friday feeling others had. Any Questions is something I look forward to. Trip to Kelso planned for tomorrow. Take care.

Good morning everyone from a foggy start to the day here on the east coast of Fife says himself who’s up and ready. He’s a little tetchy this morning i think possibly due to the excitement of travelling to Aberdeenshire for 3 days and getting all ready for a wonderful long weekend.

Where’s my lovely carer I’m needing support to shower and to get my hair washed can’t wait it’s such an exciting day today we’ve even planned a lunch on the way with a couple of friends we’ve not seen in goodness knows how long , oops there she is must go now.

Have a super duper day all ye who listen to my ramblings ?

Good morning from a grey Northampton, but the sun is trying, and it is gradually getting brighter. Have just put the towels in the washing machine, so they should dry nicely today. Nothing else planned except carry on with my book club read which I started yesterday and try to finish it before our meeting on Wednesday.

Weather update- the sun has just come out and blue skies abound!

Had a good health walk yesterday evening, and afterwards tried a different pub for dinner as our usual one was fully booked. We both had steak and were really surprised when we got the bill as it seems Thursday was Steak night with a good £4 discount off each steak!

Glad to see Urmston back. winewine Hoping for good news soon from GNs who have worries.

Stilllearning Fri 20-Aug-21 08:55:07

Morning from Pitlochry where I’m having a few days away with good friends. Good walk yesterday and another longer one planned for today although hoping to stay more on the flat as the climb yesterday nearly did for us!

Very happy to see urms return, I have missed her cheery updates and train reports! Glad it was a silent retreat to Malaga which caused it and normal service soon to be resumed.

Very glad too for you Marydoll, nothing so painful as family fractures, good luck with the path forward and joy with Dollie,

Good wishes too to all poorly, Ash you are due a break! Hope you are well recovered for next week.
Also hope your son gets a bed and treatment pdq grandMattie

I am posting a copy of picture painted by the government war artist when my daughter was serving in Afghanistan, her second tour of duty and she was Commander in charge of the intensive care unit in Camp Bastion.
She has never talked about her experiences but I texted her a couple of days ago just to try to acknowledge that she must be facing difficult memories and got the message,
‘We did what our country asked us to do, heartbroken’
I thought it was worth sharing,

Good wishes to everyone ??

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Yesterday started like this and ended up being a warm, dry day.
Laundry and ironing is today's task. Resting up as we have a busy weekend and granny duties next week.

Hõla Urmston . Sending hugs for birthdays, worries, illness and disappointments....not easy to name everyone but thinking of you all (Soops kitchen uses TOYA!) x

Mapleleaf Fri 20-Aug-21 08:40:43

Good morning,

It's a rather dull and still morning here today. There was a lot of heavy rain through the night so everything looks rather soggy at the moment.
A quiet day ahead, I think.

Take care, everyone ?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 20-Aug-21 08:40:42

Morning Mick and all

Still busy and a full house here, will catch up later

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Georgesgran Fri 20-Aug-21 08:39:57

MawBe that soup sounds delicious - will look it up.

Grandmajean Fri 20-Aug-21 08:39:25

Muse is Mya your dog ? I seem to have missed something . I love reading about people's pets and hate to hear they are ill.

Grammaretto Fri 20-Aug-21 08:30:46

Good morning folks from the Scottish Borders, Looks a nice day to come.
I shall visit DMiL today and we may go for a drive around some of her childhood haunts. We didn't manage yesterday.
I was so sorry to read about Mattie's DS and will pray he makes a full recovery. Good news about Iris though.
Sorry Ash that you are under the weather.
Take care Nortsat
Happy birthday Oopsadaisy for tomorrow. I am still celebrating mine with some "girls" coming to share my birthday wine tonight.
Great to see Urmston again. Pics please!

Georgesgran Fri 20-Aug-21 08:28:12

Good morning from an overcast Durham. Nice to see some posters with better news today.
After my ‘bout’ of IBS earlier in the week, I hoped my SinL would just go home - she’d seen both my DDs and DGSs which was supposed to be the point of her visit, but she’s still here and going back to Cheshire on Sunday - I just can’t be bothered with much so DD1 has fed her 2x this week!
Need to stop moaning, I know.
Best wishes to all for a decent weekend.

MawBe Fri 20-Aug-21 08:26:52

Good morning all , as Ginny says, it is indeed cool here in N Bucks.
Everybody around me is still on holiday it seems, it felt odd walking Rosie yesterday at bedtime - so many empty houses. I think I’d make a good burglar as I find it all too easy to tell who’s away! Maybe that could be a new career?
Made a very nice Minted Courgette and Goats cheese soup yesterday (Jamie Oliver) which I might tweak a bit as I have friends coming to lunch in a couple of days and given the weather it is more likely to be soup and Frittata than salad! TBH it’s a bit boring at the moment- the end of summer feels neither like one thing or another, I am apathetic about the garden but it’s way too soon to hunker down inside with my knitting.
Any suggestions?
Wishing you a pleasant day - and hopefully some relief for GM ‘s son.
