Good Morning Everyone,
A dry but cloudy start this morning, signs that the days are getting shorter as to daylight.
Today , a quiet day in after a shop , and watch TV , I have noticed when out more people are about , but with hidden dangers still about .
Another day trip beckons tomorrow , more later on that .
Take Care,
Mick

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 20-Aug-21 06:13:50

Good morning Mick and all who follow, dry and dull so far, but no rain forecast. It looks as though GD has Covid so they won’t be coming to stay for the week which is a pity but nothing I can do about it, another birthday without them tomorrow and a funeral today, so not much fun here at the moment.
Hope all who follow have a good day with some joy and laughter. Hugs for those who aren’t so chipper.

grandMattie Fri 20-Aug-21 06:29:28

Old morning from a grey but warmer E Kent.
Good news of Iris. Her frame is to be removed before November, probably within 6 weeks - operating schedules permitting.
Had a dreadful night. DS2 had to leave work with acute abdominal pain, GP sent him to A&E where he’s has been admitted with acute pancreatitis or kidney stones. CT later will confirm. He’s on a drip with pain killers and antibiotics but no bed yet. The poor chap’s spent the night in a chair, food- and bed-free. So worried. He’s always had the most precarious health and is my most precious of offspring.
Trust today will bring better news to all my GraMmingos, ???☀️????

Scentia Fri 20-Aug-21 06:35:39

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it looks like it will be a good day ☀️
Good morning to Mick
Oops I do hope your GD gets through her COVID as well as my family just have. Sorry your birthday plans have been scuppered.
GM fingers crossed you DS is on the mend quickly.
Had a great day at Great Central Railway with the grandchildren yesterday, today I am taking them both swimming do that will be interesting to see how I manage them both in the changing rooms?
Have a good day folks and take care.

Gelisajams Fri 20-Aug-21 06:36:58

Good morning from a dry Morecambe Bay. DH has just gone off for a swim. I’ve woken with a headache so can’t drop back off to sleep. I think it’s because I’m a bit tense about the day ahead. I need to get a couple of grass cuts done which should have been done earlier this week, I have a circuits class booked at the gym, the car needs to be cleaned inside and out as a well known firm have offered to buy it for virtually what we paid for it 3 years ago. This has tipped the balance in our deliberations to make the move to full electric, and then we need to take it to them. Then I need to phone our energy supplier to get a smart meter fitted so we can go on their e tariff for cheaper overnight charging. This will no doubt involve a few weeks wait, hence the need to get the ball rolling ASAP.
No Grandmafrench this last few days? I hope she hasn’t melted in the heat! My son is in southern Spain at the moment where it’s up to 47 degrees! He texted to say it was a good job he wasn’t further north where it was forecast 40 degrees or he may have had to buy a coat?.
Wishing everyone the very best of days especially all with worries and family health issues. Take care and stay safe.?

Gelisajams Fri 20-Aug-21 06:40:26

Hope your son is sorted quickly Mattie such a worry especially as you can’t actually do anything.

Nannagarra Fri 20-Aug-21 06:58:59

Good morning everyone from the Sefton coast where it is bright and dry.
I’m sorry to learn about your DGD Oops. Many happy returns for tomorrow. That’s excellent news about Iris, Mattie, but not about your DS2. My fingers are crossed for him. I too have noticed GMfrench has not posted for some days; I do hope she’s okay.
Yesterday’s garden party went extremely well. I was in the company of some excellent bakers and wonderful friends.
Today we’re visiting Liverpool Cathedral to view Peace Doves and Angel Wings, much recommended by a friend. Let’s just say I smiled with significance while suggesting to DH that lunch on the terrace is an attractive proposition…that man just loves picnics.
Whatever you’re doing, enjoy your day and take care.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. Its only 7° C outside and our heating kicked in this morning, the house was so cold.

GM and Oopsadaidy, I am sorry to read of your troubles, how worrying and disappointing for you.

In the last few days, we have had an unexpected visit visit from Dollie and her parents, after her first day back at school. For those who know the back story, this is a huge step in DS1's rapprochement with our family, especially as they stayed for a couple of hours. Apparently he has contacted DS2, which has lifted my heart in these last few, sorrowful days.

Unfortunately, I missed a visit from DS2 yesterday, (never visits on a weekday), when I was out sourcing a new fitting for the garden hose. I was messaging him, to tell him that the B&M near his home, was selling off all their garden stuff very cheaply, when he was actually in our home!
I got lots of solar lights at about a third of the original price. Our garden now looks like Blackpool illuminations! We are still awaiting the missing glass for the decking, so nothing can be put back in order.

As Mick would say, a small shop today, (we made have a different take on a small shop ), but I will be going out early, when it is quiet, as numbers are rising here among the under forties and many people are now ignoring the compulsory wearing of masks in shops. No-one challenges them!

If anyone wants to listen to Phoenix talking about the challenges she has faced, you can do so here. Its about 29 minutes into it.

Have the best day you can folks.

Beechnut Fri 20-Aug-21 07:10:18

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Micks Brackley weather is also on Severnside.

Shopping and bed changing on the cards for my day. A garden centre I like to go to were advertising cyclamen so I took myself off to get some yesterday. There weren’t many left.

I hope your son gets a bed soon Mattie and soon recovers.
Have a good day all and take care ?

Ashcombe Fri 20-Aug-21 07:13:21

Good morning, everyone, from an increasingly bright Torbay.

I’ve slept later than usual as the virus I’ve been fighting since Monday seems to have that effect, along with dizziness, blocked ear and headache. Yesterday, I thought I was better and was ready for my final stint at Brixham Museum but had to abandon that plan, sadly. But it will pass and is not as serious as health issues being faced by others.

My heart goes out to you, grandMattie, and your concern for your DS2. Your joy at the pleasing news about Iris must be slightly diminished by your anxiety for your son. I do hope he is soon on a ward and the treatment will bring him to a full recovery.

How disappointing for you Oopsadaisy regarding your birthday, especially with a funeral to attend today but perhaps a delayed celebration could compensate when your GD is well, which I hope will be soon.

The car deal sounds excellent Gelisajams! But what a busy day you have planned. Phew! I’m also concerned by the absence of Grandmafrench and hope all is well with her. Heartwarming family news, Marydoll!

Wishing you as good a day as possible, whatever the circumstances. ??☀️

Nortsat Fri 20-Aug-21 07:26:45

Good morning Mick and the GM team from east London, where the sky is bright.

I have a bruise on my temple, I was reaching for a salad bowl from a high shelf last night and I whacked myself in the face with the bowl.
I have a blister on my hand, as the previous day, I managed to burn myself lifting a tray out of the oven.
I am getting over the after effects of a stay in hospital and am somewhat wobbly on my legs. So feeling a bit doddery ...
Mattie hope your DS makes rapid progress to improvement.
Gelisajams looking forward to hearing more about your journey to an electric car.

Wishing everyone the best day possible

Grandmabatty Fri 20-Aug-21 07:26:50

Good morning all. Polmont is misty and cool this morning at 10°. Autumn is a-coming.
Grandmattie good news about Iris but not so good about your son. I hope he gets a bed shortly. Oopsadaisy1 how disappointing for you. Fingers crossed that your dgd has a mild dose. Ashcombe take care. Lots of fluids.
Yesterday I found some energy and was busy, cleaning, ironing, washing, weeding and sorting paperwork. I've nearly finished my Halloween cross stitch too. I've had an influx of fruit flies so the Cider vinegar was out in little bowls. Hopefully that'll have sorted them.
Today I have an unexpected babysitting stint. Dd is going for a pregnancy massage. It's only an hour or so. Before that, I'll head to Aldi to get some food in. Then a quiet afternoon recovering. Have a good day all.

NanKate Fri 20-Aug-21 07:27:42

Good morning Mick and All.

The sun is peeking through the clouds in South Bucks.

Sorry to hear about your virus Ashcombe I hate feeling dizzy, let’s hope a restful day will improve things. I do hope your DS gets all the help he needs today grandMattie. Good news about Iris. How wonderful seeing your Dollie Mary. She sounds like a mini you with her sparky/fun personality.

I’m off to get the picnic food for our outdoor show tomorrow night, plus a bin bag to sit in as rain is due. ?

Urmstongran Fri 20-Aug-21 07:34:16

Hõla ~ buenos dias bonitas! I’m here in very sunny Malaga (since the end of June) and our daughter, son in law, the boy wonder (who is now 9y) and l’il miss all joined us a fortnight ago. They fly home next Tuesday morning. I of course have Ladies Who Wine that afternoon so Himself will be in his element getting us straight again. (Lucky me really ?).

So this is advance warning that I plan to be back from next Wednesday. I couldn’t miss Beechnut’s birthday on Thursday could I? In the interim I will try to catch up a bit. I haven’t signed into GN for months. I’ve really missed you all!

Right, time for my second cuppa on this tiny balcony. It’s hot already so I’m going to squish myself into my swimsuit that M&S promised ‘tummy control’ ~ boy, it has it’s work cut out.
?

See you soon mi amigas. ?

Grandmadinosaur Fri 20-Aug-21 07:40:18

Good morning from East Yorkshire. It’s been raining overnight but feels quite warm. We have dgs today so will see what he would like to do. DH also has a couple of work calls so have to plan around that. We were hoping to get another day at the coast in but not sure if it’s a wise decision.
* grandmattie * good news on Iris but a worry about your son I hope they can stabilise and find him a bed. My brother suffers with pancreatitis and flare ups as I say it’s a worry.
oopsadaisy sorry to hear your plans are cancelled. So disappointing for you.
nannagarra enjoy your day at liverpool cathedral. I’ve heard about the dove installation and would like to see it myself. We have special fondness for the cathedral as my father in law was a stonemason and worked on it.
Have a good day all and take care .

brook2704 Fri 20-Aug-21 07:44:14

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s grey and cloudy. Yesterday turned out to be a lovely warm sunny day and I had a lovely day out with DGS at a young aviators day at Duxford.
It’s my last day here as I’m travelling back home to Inverness later today but coming back again soon
Such a shame Oops about your DGD, I hope she’s not too poorly and you get to see her soon
Good news about Iris GM but sorry to hear your DS2 is poorly. Hope he’s much better soon
So pleased you’re getting to see Dollie a bit more marydoll and hope she’s settled back at school well
Sounds like a good deal for your car gelisa I hope you manage to get everything done - it sounds like a busy day
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

brook2704 Fri 20-Aug-21 07:45:56

Jaxjacky Fri 20-Aug-21 07:46:27

Good morning all from a cloudy S Hants. How disappointing Oops, let’s hope it’s a mild encounter for your GS.
My friend is in hospital with a similar diagnosis gM, wishing your son a quick recovery. Virus sounds very annoying Ash, hopefully it’ll push off soon.
I too have wondered about Grandmafrench an unusual absence.
This weekend’s family bbq was Sunday, then Saturday, now Sunday again, due to a wet front incoming from the west that’s speeded up. So butchers today am to pick up my order, Tesco delivery pm, in between bathroom clean and hoovering.
Have a pleasant day all. ??

Grandmabatty Fri 20-Aug-21 07:47:11

Put out the bunting!??? Get the sangria ready!?? That was a lovely announcement Urmstongran. You have been missed. ❤️

Gelisajams Fri 20-Aug-21 07:48:56

Jaxjacky Fri 20-Aug-21 07:51:09

Good to see you back Urmstongran you’ve been missed, sneaking off to Spain! Well done you. X

NannyJan53 Fri 20-Aug-21 07:53:33

Good morning from a dull Black Country.

We had rain of almost monsoon proportions late yesterday afternoon. The street resembled a small stream. Luckily I had cut the lawn an hour before!

My DGD No. 2 is a teenager today! That was 13 years gone in a flash. We are having a family gathering for a BBQ this afternoon. Weather forecast is for no rain today !

Welcome back Urmston! I have been wondering if you were ok, glad you are back in your beloved Malaga .

Ooops and GM hope your family members recover quickly. Great news about Iris though! Ashcombe sorry you are feeling unwell. flowers

Wishing you all a lovely day

monk08 Fri 20-Aug-21 07:55:03

Good morning from the Black country, yet another dull day where's this heatwave they promised?
Nothing planned today over the club with friends this evening.
Will catch up later tablet needs charging.
Did notice Urmstongran posting nice to see you back.
Have the best Friday you can and may you all find some ?.

Charleygirl5 Fri 20-Aug-21 07:55:12

Grandmafrench did post a few words in soop's kitchen yesterday.

Gingster Fri 20-Aug-21 07:57:49

Good morning all and it’s bright here on the Suffolk coast.

How lovely to hear from Urmstongran. I know it will brighten us all up after a few sad days here on GN. So glad you’re back ?.

We cleared out more cupboards yesterday.: Mainly children’s books, toys and puzzles. Eldest gd now 19 and youngest almost 6 , so they won’t be needed anymore. They’ve had a good long life here. I must do the same when we get back home. Very therapeutic having a clear out. It’s very difficult with dh as he is a hoarder. ?.

GranMattie - I do hope they make your DS comfortable soon and sort out his problem ?. Lovely news for Iris though ?

Ash get better soon. You have your journey to OD to France next week don’t you? Look after yourself and get fit for travelling. ?

Marydoll things are looking up with family and reconciliations are making progress. ❤️

0opsadaisy what a disappointment for you. Hopefully you can have a belated birthday celebration with family in a couple of weeks. ?.

Wishing you all as good a day as you can. ?
