Poor baby - run home to mummy!

So, not only had Prince Andrew run home to mummy, The Queen has let it be known to the regiment that she wants the Duke of York to remain as colonel, and the feeling is that nobody wants to do anything that could cause upset to the colonel-in-chief.'
What about those who have been hurt by this so far by these allegations...... Diddums - poor Andrew, I wonder if The Queen spoon feeds him his breakfast and wipes his botty for him also!

Then my very sincere apologies Annie. I’d only looked at this thread. I thought it seemed very unlike you, from what I’ve seen you post elsewhere. Mea culpa. ?

Annie was saying that it’s Republicans who think that the RF aren’t ‘real human beings’ with feelings etc.
Those aren’t Annies own opinions, like others have said - it’s sarcasm.
Annie is definitely a proud monarchist, I hope she doesn’t mind me saying that!

'Scuse me, 'scuse me ??

This republican doesn't think the RF aren't real human beings. This republican would like a republic. This republican admires the Queen as a person. This republican quite enjoyed seeing the Duchess of Cornwall on Gardeners World.

This republican doesn't like being stereotyped. angry

Oh no! I was only trying to explain! blush
My views are the same as yours Alegrias, but probably a little less forthright! smile

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 25-Aug-21 15:37:15

I’m wearing my hair shirt Fanny et al. Just about to start the self-flagellation ...

Lucca Wed 25-Aug-21 15:40:57

Alegrias. Me too. Im a fairly easygoing republican and object to being accused of thinking RF have no feelings.

Lucca Wed 25-Aug-21 15:42:22

Anyway…. I’ll now indulge my pet peeve. Has OP returned to back up her thread opener ?

FannyCornforth Wed 25-Aug-21 15:44:47

Can I please make clear that those weren’t my own thoughts on Republicans

(Annie look what you’ve done! grin)

I know what you mean Fannyflowers

But its like being portrayed as an unfeeling person who just wants them all thrown out on the streets, and to be honest I'm a bit fed up of it. Its perfectly possible to want a change of governmental systems without wanting to string people up from lamp-posts and without being a closet revolutionary. No doubt some people are extreme, but some people just want to see fairness in our system.

I wondered that myself.
I thought that this thread would just disappear as it wasn’t exactly met with applause, but it’s trundling along like a good ‘un.
What is it about Royal threads?
Or is it the heady mix of you, me, Alegrias and Annie? smile

There are countries with republics and very successful people in their own right as presidents. Ireland Germany to name two there are more. We do not know the queen.

I think the bar for behaviour is set quite generously. True, Andrew could have been born first. But we don’t really know the Queen as a person at all.
However we do know that she and Charles lobbied aggressively to avoid climate related costs their activities and estates incurred in Scotland. They look after themselves and their own interests behind a cloak of secrecy.

But we don’t really know the Queen as a person at all

^^This. I agree, we don't know her or her character at all. We know she's done her duty for decades and for that we assume the best obviously.

But given this is a person that has never given an interview, never expressed her views on anything, we have no idea, we can only express a view on her by her actions but we are fed what we should be thinking about HMQ by the press, given that is pro-royalty, pro-Queen, we actually haven't a clue.

The monarchy embodies what's wrong with the UK – it's time to let it decay

Indeed. To quote your fellow countryperson Billy Connolly (although I don't think he was talking about the RF) "Hanging's too good for them, it's a good kick up the *rse they need..."

Just returning to my thread. Found another article so it would seem there is more than one allegation against PA. There is a very good documentary on Netflix about what went on in the Florida residence of Epstein also. Some people mentioned about where the parents of the Victoria Guiffre where when this was going on. Epstein 'recruited' the girls through their school with the lure of money. I think many parents like to think they know what their teenage children are doing but how many actually do know where they are 24/7. Also some these girls (in Florida) were from very poor and troubled backgrounds. Anyway here's the other article.

Please no, not more of this!

Anniebach Thu 26-Aug-21 11:44:38

So she has a foggy memory !

Differences between Giuffre and Sjoberg’s recollections of this night have been noted. Asked about accusations of inconsistency during her BBC Panorama interview, Roberts Giuffre said: “You are left with a foggy memory sometimes, you really are. I might be wrong on dates absolutely and I might be wrong on places even, sometimes … But one thing that I can tell you is you never forget the face of someone who has heaved over you.”

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 26-Aug-21 12:14:01

What a nice turn of phrase she has.

trisher Thu 26-Aug-21 12:23:13

I think she's quite restrained. She could have used much more graphic language to describe the actions of the honourable prince.

I think the RF have feelings, I just think they are a complete anachronism. Dinosaurs probably had feelings as well.

Grany Thu 26-Aug-21 13:13:26

There are New billboards on their way. The new billboards carry more direct messages about the monarchy and challenge some of the key myths.

One report I read said the father of the girl in question took her to the rendezvous and waited outside for her! What sort of parent does that?

Parsley3 Thu 26-Aug-21 17:30:29

What sort of Prince is best friends with Epstein?
