The weather is set okay
in others words it should be dry and very little rain is due.
I am just thinking I might not have enough time to do all things I want to do over the three days.

I’m hoping neighbours will all be out so I can have a quiet BH in the garden.

No chance ! Bank Holidays in our area simply mean the M25 would be preferable if trying to get from A to B.
Family invited on Sunday for late lunch, I simply need to cook which is far less stressful than travelling in my view.

I’m off tomorrow to spend the weekend with my DD and family. It’s DD 47th birthday (can’t believe it) and it will be fun to be with them all, they are 30 minutes from the Norfolk/ Suffolk coast and I’m sure the DGC will want to go ,so possibly we will venture out early to the beach . I hope my poorly back will survive their sofa bed!

Edinburgh festival is on. The town is packed. Covid numbers have rocketed. Wonder why?!hmm

We haven't been anywhere on a bank holiday in years - too much traffic, too many crowds, too many queues, too expensive. We go places when the schools are back. Plenty to do at home at the moment.

Hetty58 Thu 26-Aug-21 14:29:40

Bank holidays here are for staying in. We avoid the traffic queues, the crowds, litter, noise and rushed service at restaurants.

Being retired, midweek seems the best time for outings. Why risk catching the virus?

i tried to say on another thread that covid numbers had rocketed (in my area) but apparently i was adding to the feeling of impending doom
they have really soared here and in neighbouring county
from 300 to 600 in a week

with that very descriptive vocabulary i must mention the red arrows are in my town tomorrow
the place will be packed shoulder to shoulder
we have decided on a suitable viewing place on a rock in the sea

I live in North Cornwall but a ten minute walk from the nearest beach where at the moment, I would, as my neighbour informs me.find it difficult to ' stick a pin'.

I live in a small seaside town where the COVID numbers are now higher than they have ever been. Over the weekend we are expecting a huge influx of crowds and I won’t be one of them. In fact I’m about to pop to the local chemist and then I will severely limit my interactions with people until the COVID numbers in my area drop significantly.

Fortunately my allotment is only 200 yards from my front door so I have a place to go and sit out where I can relax in the sunshine and not worry about coming into contact with anyone.

I am going to visit some Open Gardens in the next village on Monday. I don’t normally go anywhere on Bank Holidays.

Granmarderby10 Thu 26-Aug-21 13:41:56

Here they are having a massive party in the park over three days -perhaps to make up for none last year. The Sunday one is quite famous now, though ? not free anymore - but cheap really. So might go. I’ve done it in the pouring rain before. Cold bums, numb hands, hot doughnuts, live classical music with a big firework finale, what’s not to like?

Blossoming Thu 26-Aug-21 13:28:39

Enjoy your weekend infoman, but sandwiched as we are between the Lakes, the Dales and the seaside we never go out on a bank holiday as the traffic is always horrendous! Fortunately there’s always something going on at the Marina.

Septimia Thu 26-Aug-21 12:30:57

Definitely not going anywhere on a bank hol weekend. We're waiting for the children to go back to school!

JaneJudge Thu 26-Aug-21 11:47:18

Callistemon Thu 26-Aug-21 11:41:11

We avoid going out at Bank Holidays except perhaps for a walk in the nearby countryside - miles of traffic queues on motorways don't appeal.
Thank goodness we don't have to join in now we're retired.

Maggiemaybe Thu 26-Aug-21 11:10:51

We’re looking after grandsons today and tomorrow, Saturday I’m meeting ex-colleagues for lunch, making a birthday cake, organising a children’s treasure hunt and generally getting ready for DS’s family birthday do at ours on Sunday. If we all manage to make it this time, it’ll be the first time all 14 of us have got together since last March.

So I’m looking forward to the weekend, but I’ll be recovering at home on Monday. smile

Everywhere round here is packed at bank holiday weekends, plus the black dog tends to visit me then, for some reason.

I have always disliked BH crowds and once the children were grown up I always opted to work. It was nice to have a day off in lieu when everyone else was back at work.

My feeling exactly or I would save the day to be tagged on to my holidays over xmas/new year.

Witzend Thu 26-Aug-21 09:30:52

We will probably be having the two elder Gdcs at least overnight, to give dd and SiL time to get straight/organised and ready for school on 2nd Sept. , after the 2nd week of camping.

So I foresee a trip into town, where a couple of weeks ago there was a massive bouncy castle outside the church, and various other rides inc. bumper cars, that Gdcs were ecstatic about.

Hence dh and I wondering the other day what on earth were all these small amounts on the credit card statement - Bettafun, Bettafun, Bettafun - before it dawned.
It certainly was ‘Bettafun’ for Gdcs!

rubysong Thu 26-Aug-21 09:23:56

Please don't come to Cornwall. Covid figures are the worst in the country, there is nowhere to park, no accommodation vacancies and cafes etc. are fully booked. We live half an hour from the beach but won't be going there until the schools are back.

Galaxy Thu 26-Aug-21 09:15:41

I am on holiday from tomorrow as I still work but absolutely no way would I do that if I wasnt working. I am afraid lots of places just arent coping with the amount of people at the moment.

Peasblossom Thu 26-Aug-21 09:15:12

Definitely won’t be on the road to anywhere! Not when I can go in a weeks time and not sit in traffic and struggle to park.

Oh I just love being retired?

yggdrasil Thu 26-Aug-21 08:55:49

what they say. The only thing planned for this town has been cancelled again becasue of the covid danger with all the crowds. But the schools go back next week so things will improve :-)
