Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry but grey start here in brackley this morning.
Hoping my bus trips go to plan as I am aiming on Buckingham first, and then go to Bicester with a return to Buckingham to have lunch and then browse the flea market before coming home to watch the Vuelta unfold on TV .
I only hope the Buckingham bus link keeps to time and not causing delays .
Take Care,
Mick

My late mum was a great one for ornaments EkwaNimity and as she had so many (but loved them all) she used to put some out, stash some away for a while then change things over and around every now and again. She bought them because she liked them and didn’t want to ‘get rid’. Just a thought?

It's a bit of a climb up the steps NanKate. We just take our time and stop for a breather.

NanKate Sat 28-Aug-21 16:11:15

Love your photos NannyJan. I will check out Brean Down whilst we are away next week ?

Hi Nannytopsy
Hope our DGC have a lovely birthday, what a coincidence!

Feelingmyage55 Sat 28-Aug-21 11:34:56

Good morning from another sunny day in the North of Scotland. Welcome rosycheeks and what a positive name.
I’m off to read the full thread after a busy morning and will catch up on everyone’s news. Have a good Bank Holiday weekend.

EkwaNimitee Sat 28-Aug-21 10:47:09

Good morning, Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle, and welcome, Rosycheeks.
I was interested to hear about your neighbour, Urmston, her experience was what I thought could happen to me, which is mainly why I only re-located as far as Carlisle and not to my beloved Spain.
A gentle day of sorting out is due here as I'm a bit under par though hoping to buck up and mow the lawn after lunch. I do so hate sitting about even if I have a good book on the go.
The boxes marked 'ornaments' which I thought couldn't possibly be all ornaments, are! Where to put them? I had a good cull before I moved and these are ones I definitely want to keep. I was spoilt at my last place, umpteen surfaces and shelves to put things on, so I did! Even if I wanted to get rid of some the charity shops apparently no longer want bric a brac. I don't blame them, younger folk just don't seem to have such things.
I hope the poorly and positive soon recover and wish us all a weekend of good weather.

Auntieflo Sat 28-Aug-21 10:19:35

Good morning Mick, Annie, and Marydoll.
Can't make up my mind about the weather, it's dullish! with a little breeze. We shall probably go out for coffee later on, but at the rate we are going, it could well be lunch time.
Our Church has a coffee shop, where a group if friends always used to meet on Saturday mornings, but they do not open on Saturday any more, such a pity.
I managed to have a good day yesterday, with a surge of energy, so felt pleased with myself.
I have also finished knitting the cardigan, and just have to sew it up now and find some buttons.
Sorry to hear that you are confined to quarters Scentia, get better soon, and I send a gentle stroke to the guineas. They are such dear little creatures.
Hoping everyone has a good weekend.

Kalu Sat 28-Aug-21 10:18:34

Good morning Mick and all. Hoping you too can enjoy what is another sunny day in Glasgow Marydoll

It isn’t a bank holiday in Scotland, but being retired, I can decide whether or not it should be. ?

I must do a Google earth search to see what changes have been made in Mijas since we holidayed there 1980 Urms.

A warm welcome to you Rosycheeks
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Scentia and Gwen ?
Hoping your DH begins to feel an improvement soon Grey

Have a pleasant day all.

Urmstongran Sat 28-Aug-21 10:10:07

So many responses for you Gingster! Bet you’re head is spinning.

Gingster Sat 28-Aug-21 10:06:03

Hello Nannyjean ?.

Urms thanks for the update on your neighbour. It’s good to know she’s happy back with family. ❤️

Grammaretto Sat 28-Aug-21 10:00:18

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm sitting out in the sunshine drinking tea and hearing an aeroplane overhead. This rare occurrence will become more usual.
Covid is rife here now the schools have gone back and it is thoroughly awful. My Dgd is coughing until she's sick and has a high temperature. She had a pcr test yesterday but what then? Small children aren't obliged to isolate.
Several families are keeping their DC at home.
Best recovery wishes to Scentia and Gwen
Nice to see Urms and to meet Rosiecheeks
Enjoy the weekend.

Urmstongran Sat 28-Aug-21 09:43:17

Talking about response to your posts Gingster ... I noticed last night you’d enquired about my elderly neighbour out here? When we came back after 7 months in Manchester I noticed a real deterioration in her mental health. She was super anxious about life out here. She felt at 86y, on her own, extremely vulnerable. The upshot is her family came out to fetch her. They went with her to close her bank account, put the apartment up for sale, give the solicitor PoA so she doesn’t need to return. It was a great help to her, especially nowadays as travel isn’t so straightforward (a rapid antigen result showing ‘fit to fly’, a completed locator form that needs a code from a pre-booked mandatory Day 2 etc which would have all proved impossible for her on her own). I rang her last week. She’s loving being back in Yorkshire, living with her son temporarily. I’m glad she’s settled - you can’t buy peace of mind can you?

P.s. welcome to you Rosycheeks! ?

Urmstongran Sat 28-Aug-21 09:30:30

I was trying to work out what’s different about this thread and then realised the subtle change ... you now add the full date Mick in the title.
?
It used to just say the day of the week.

joyce6135 Sat 28-Aug-21 09:30:18

Morning all from East Northants where the sun is trying to come out, although yesterday I was so cold I considered putting the heating on ! A bit of gardening tidying today, then watching football later and then Netflix and a cheeky glass of wine. Have a peaceful day everyone.

Blossoming Sat 28-Aug-21 09:24:29

Good morning Mick and all. It’s bright and sunny again here in Lancashire. Temperature currently 13 deg C.

Another day with not much planned, I will do some laundry and line dry it. After lunch a short walk around the marina after usual physio exercises.

Welcome to any new posters. Congratulations to anyone celebrating and virtual hugs to anybody suffering.

Wishing a safe journey to anybody traveling.

Have the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s another glorious day already. We have 33°C with a gentle breeze forecast. A day in the gardens is on the agenda following yesterday’s day out in Mijas.

This photo is of the pretty Calle San Sebastián where we ate our leisurely lunch, grateful for the cool inside with air con. Mijas was so QUIET. Hardly any tourists. Usually there are coach loads of Chinese, jostling for space to take photos in their groups, car parks are full and the town is packed. Yesterday was surreal. I took photos of almost empty streets. Bars & restaurants were all only a quarter busy. I dare say some of the retired locals are enjoying having things ‘as they used to be’ but I felt sorry for those trying to run a business.

Mijas looks very different to how it was 6 years ago. The centre is pedestrianised. The famous donkey taxis had every donkey in their stalls - no one was using them. Donkeys have such sweet faces don’t they? They were just braying to one another. Boredom perhaps.

Enjoy Saturday those who can. x

Good morning from a warm, blue sky Durham - will it last for the BH weekend, I wonder.
DD2 is 38 today but she and DD1 are not well - both have negative test results, but are very under the weather, so I suspect birthday plans will change. I’ve offered to have DGS1 tomorrow as his Daddy’s at work but haven’t heard back.
Welcome rosie - hope you stay with us. holly - your book title has me intrigued!
I hope all missing posters are well, especially GF and will return eventually.
Have a good weekend all. X

Good morning [evening in Tassie]

Nanna8 I just took all my old records including Beatles, Seekers, Manfred Mann, Gerry and the Pacemakers and many more to auction. Felt very sad but no longer have a record player and must start to declutter a big collection.

Best wishes to all particularly Scentia and Gwen it must be quite scary to test positive.

Greyduster Sat 28-Aug-21 09:01:59

Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining in South Yorkshire so a nice day ahead, but I have a pile of ironing to tackle, and DH is still not well so it’s not likely we will be going very far. It was quiet without GS yesterday. He’s a breath of fresh air! Welcome to all newcomers and commiserations to all who are struggling with health issues.
Have a good day folks.

Dogsmakemesmile Sat 28-Aug-21 09:01:47

Hello everyone and especially Gwen, Scentia and Rosycheeks . Gorgeous summer day here in the Scottish Borders with a September nip. Hoping to reach Melrose today and venture into a few shops. Have done a bit of cleaning, hoovering and moving stuff around (I throw things over my shoulder) plus threw out a bin bag of items that clutter up the place. Will ask DH to take to recycling centre later. I hope all reading this thread have a good a day as possible. Oh, I hope * Ash* is settling in too.

Good morning all from another grey day in SW Herts. Welcome Rosycheeks that makes three of us from Herts at least today, any more lurkers out there reading this? ?

Wishing a quick recovery to Scentia and GwenisGreat, hopefully these infections will be mild, we will probable all have had it within a year or so!

DGD still in pain, the family have gone off to a festival in a campervan, at least that will take her mind off it a bit. She has little appetite, but perhaps the party atmosphere will tempt her. They have all had Covid, so no worries there.

Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday everyone, whatever your plans are (ironing will not be top of my list!) ?

kittylester Sat 28-Aug-21 08:44:46

Good morning all from a dull North Leicestershire. I'm still in bed but should actual get a move on as DS1 is coming for brunch and to watch Forest lose again.

I will feed him and DH and then go to the garden centre as I need new baking trays!!!

DD3 and co have gone home and the house looks really tidy. Won't last as they are coming back on Tuesday.

Gelisajams Sat 28-Aug-21 08:42:41

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it is a sunny autumnal morning with lots of condensation on the parked cars.
Welcome Rosiecheeks
I was reading while I wait for my friend to phone, she’s usually bang on 8:30. If I get this message typed before she rings I will phone her. Hope she’s ok!
I didn’t get the shed painted yesterday. I ran out of enthusiasm even before I started so maybe I’ll get that done today.
Sending get well wishes to all in the sick bay.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?
