I see the ‘fush = fish’ on the list, but there’s no mention of the
‘chups = chips’!

Hello Nana8, All this lockdown stuff is not easy is it. How are you handling it? We go to level 3 tonight at 11.59, not a lot of difference from level 4 tbh. You Melburnians have done it tough haven’t you. Just holding onto the hope that one day it’ll be ok to travel and enjoy the delights both sides of the Tasman holds. We absolutely love Melbourne, and hold many happy memories, it’s a fantastic city. Good luck. X

Hi grandMattie - you’re on to it. ? Many similarities between us but many differences as you’d expect as well. I guess it’s similar to asking a Canadian if they’re American, they’ll soon tell you!

Reminds me of a book published in the ‘60s called “How to speak ‘Strine”, by one Affabeck Lauder…. Hilarious!

Nearly had me spill my tea too laughing! Hopefully I will visit NZ very soon to see ds,dil and gc and this list will come in handy. One thing my kiwi dil used to say that made me laugh was bun (bin in kiwi).

My NZ cousin always says he is going to catch the "fairy" from North to South Island!

Good luck in level 3 denbylover! A memory from our last trip to New Zealand was a restaurant where I ordered ‘rack of lamb’ . The waitress came over and asked ‘who’s the wreck?’ and it took us Aussies a while to work out she wasn’t commenting on someone’s appearance ! Gave us a good laugh.

?? Thanks Nanna8 too many reasons not to laugh at the moment. Our lockdown so far here in NZ has been so short compared to what you have had to deal with over there.
