I'm certainly not a fan of PM and don't watch GMTV but am wondering if he'll be re instated.

Love him or hate him, this ruling is not actually about PM, but about free speech in the media. It was clearly stated that a journalist is allowed to express an opinion, so long as it is robustly challenged, in other words, the discussion is balanced. I think it is the right decision.
GMB is not actually a news programme, although it covers topical events, and the main headlines. I think the term is ‘magazine.’ It is a magazine type programme. A straight news bulletin would The News at Ten, or similar. Incidentally I have never watched GMB and I didn’t see PM and therefore don’t have a clear idea of what happened, I only know what reportedly happened, but it doesn’t matter because the ruling is what’s important, not what PM said.

There's a thread on here about a woman who went on walks with a man who saw the relationship as something other than friendship and she had to shut him down firmly.

Whatever your personal feelings of Meghan, can anyone be in any doubt that Piers Morgan has an unhealthy fixation on her, and seems to delight in trying to goad her with his televised and published comments. No woman deserves that. I hope this can be seen to show Piers there are consequences to actions and he'll desist in future, despite being "cleared by Ofcom" on this occasion.

Princess Pinocchio was trending on Twitter this morning. The childishness is astounding.

All the judgement said was that Piers Morgan was entitled to his opinion. It in no way said that his opinion was correct.

We're talking about Meghan, not Galaxy.

She's a puppet, someone said, but she pulls her strings, someone else said.

So she's either not a puppet or we're in some weird horror movie with Meghan as a possessed wooden doll.

Which I'm sure someone will come along to say very soon.

Yes a puppet without a conscience is very apt. She certainly likes to think she can pull her strings!

Is she a self-activating puppet then? If you're going to insult people at least try to be coherent.

I don't want to get the character wrong again, but why is love0c's comment incoherent please?
Pulling your own strings is an expression to mean taking control of your life, so you are not a victim. There's heaps of books written about it.
Galaxy has a good attitude if she does that!

Galaxy Thu 02-Sept-21 10:17:02

I pull my own strings smile

Just popped in to say what was being said about Piers Morgan but I see it’s an anti Meghan fest.

I have mixed feeling about PM. I don't really like him, he makes me squirm, but quite often I find myself agreeing with what he says.

I thought it was a particularly apt description; the puppet without a conscience.

Galaxy Thu 02-Sept-21 08:41:54

I have just scrolled through his Twitter feed, that is the creepiest online behaviour I have seen in a while and I see a lot of weird online behaviour.

tippytipsy Thu 02-Sept-21 07:56:00

Oh I misread. But my expansion of the Disney topic was enlightening!

Alegrias1 Thu 02-Sept-21 07:46:22

He referenced Pinocchio, not Pocahontas.

He was calling her a liar. Again.

tippytipsy Thu 02-Sept-21 07:39:10

There are many parallels between Meghan and Pocahontas. Not just on a physical level, but also her relationship with her father, being married twice, her religious conversion and her character.
I think Morgan was also referencing Meghan's desire to do Disney voice overs and now her own film about Pearl.

Alegrias1 Thu 02-Sept-21 07:25:36

So straight-talking Morgan called the Duchess of Sussex "Princess Pinocchios" ( sic ). Nasty, cruel, self publicising and not funny. So yes, like a three year old. Except if a three year old did that I'd expect them to be told off for being rude, not praised.

I see he's in the press saying he's been vindicated. Who's telling porkies now?

Chardy Thu 02-Sept-21 07:16:07

Morgan always seemed to say the first thing that came into his head, just to be different from other people. While other commentators were quite sycophantic towards ministers, he'd be the opposite.

NanKate Wed 01-Sept-21 22:00:38

Like *Grannyrebel” I too like straight talking people, I don’t have to agree with what they say. Freedom of speech seems to be on the decline.

It worries me that M appears to be devious and self-serving, as well as bending the truth, whilst H has been sucked into her way of thinking because he is besotted with her.

I’m another who has never heard of Sean Locke.

Just on a role Alegriasgrin

Alegrias1 Wed 01-Sept-21 19:57:33

You're obsessed, woman grin

Smileless2012 Wed 01-Sept-21 19:53:46

Not sure if that's how we'd describe a 3 year old but there's a couple in America who fit the bill.

Alegrias1 Wed 01-Sept-21 19:35:00

I don't get this thing about liking people because they are a "straight talker". Does that mean that they just say anything they like, no matter how hurtful, puerile, untrue, slanderous...but at least they are a straight talker? Isn't that how we'd describe a 3 year old?

I mean, Trump is a straight talker and he's an idiot. confused

timetogo2016 Wed 01-Sept-21 19:25:32

I love and will miss Sean Locke.
One of the best comedians and down to earth family man comedians ever.
As for PM, i don`t care either way,i can take him or leave him.

Forsythia Wed 01-Sept-21 19:13:05

I think he knows a lot more about her, her lies and previous life, than we know in the public forum. Hence, he calls her out on it. He is entitled to do so and his opinion is as valid as anybody else’s.
