Good Morning Thursday 2nd September 2021
(65 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its cloudy but dry here in brackley this morning.
Today for me will ne usual bus trip out to Bicester for a short while to return and watch the Vuelta unfold on TV .
Also unsure whether to turn heating on.
Take care,
Mick
Today would have been my 49 Wedding Anniversary, but it’s exactly 6 months to the day since DH died. I miss him.
Good morning all,
As greyduster has reported, its grey, grey, grey and cool here in South Yorkshire today. It must be slightly milder than yesterday morning though as the heating didn’t kick on today first thing.
Boiler service was done yesterday, chap came at 12.40, so it meant a lot of hanging around waiting for him to get here as their time window is 8 am until 1 pm for a morning slot. Still, it’s done now.
Pilates class very soon, so I’d better get a move on.
Best wishes to you all.
Good morning everyone. It’s cloudy here at Morecambe Bay. It’s our youngest Gd’s birthday today and also her very first day at school. We will hopefully FaceTime her later and see how she’s got on. She’s been very clingy recently. We are going down on Saturday to look after her while her mum and dad go out for the evening.
We got word yesterday we can pick the new car up next Thursday. We had our meters changed last week to smart meters so we can go on a cheaper night time tariff to charge it but they are currently not connected to anything. A fault somewhere in cyberspace!
Take care everyone and stay safe ?
Good morning everyone from another grey dull day in Northampton. It will be dry, though, so the towels are in the washing machine.
So glad I made the effort to go to the well-being cafe yesterday, it really cheered me up, and I came home feeling much better. Had a good gossip over coffee and cake and my knitting progressed. It was a nice half hour walk each way; not many people about.
As I said yesterday I may run the hoover round upstairs (or not, as the mood takes me). And I may cut the grass - or not. A Sainsbury's delivery is due later this morning, no substitutes, they actually have everything I ordered for a change!
Younger DGD starts her first year at secondary school today; her mum has just put a lovely picture on Facebook of her in her school uniform. Where has the time gone?
Glad our GNs in sick bay are starting to feel better. Wishing all a pleasant day.
Morning from just outside Oban where the sky is lovely and blue again, I am having such a good week of weather here. The two grandchildren I am helping with are a joy and at ten and thirteen are almost independent, they are keeping me right!
DD is back this afternoon and I’ll head off home tomorrow.
I hope it’s not so long again before I can return.
I got a message last night saying that our choir which was scheduled to resume practices tonight is in fact not going to get back together for the foreseeable as several members have tested positive and quite a few others have decided it’s still too risky. It feels as though we are going backwards just now.
I had forgotten that poem Ash, it’s lovely, thank you.
Good health and best wishes to everyone for a good day ??
Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Forecast to be nicer later. Hopefully I can get some washing on the line.
The carpenter is getting on well with building a shed. I was worried when he was balancing on the roof yesterday as he is 65 and hasn't got the best physique!
I now have a dishwasher that it still to be tested. The guy who fitted it was supposed to be painting the cladding at the back of the house to save us having to replace it just yet. I left DH in charge and came home to a coat of yellow when I had asked for white......luckily he's due back next week to put on a second coat and probably a third now!!!!!
Note to self, don't leave DH alone with workmen
Love to all x
Good morning Mick and all his followers from a grey Suffolk. From the clink of flints, I can tell that our neighbour’s builders are at work. Note to self - close bedroom curtains again before getting dressed!
Tesco delivery and village coffee morning today, to catch up on the news. DS and family are here this afternoon for pizzas made in our pizza oven, so dough to make for them. Everyone can construct their own pizza outside to keep the mess down! DGC and I brought a pile of logs to the patio, so that we can light the fire bowl. We may need it this evening.
If this weather doesn’t improve, I think we should head West, in search of the sun!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.
Good morning all, dull and a bit cooler today , grocery shopping today and click and collect at M+S , Such excitement !
I hope Marydoll is keeping an eye out on us ?
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning all from dreary Harrogate
Looking forward to ‘breakout’ day - Sunday!! I’m having regular calls from NHS to make sure I’m behaving.
Today I have a call from my GP booked pre COVID I assume he knows I’m a statistic!
Got my Sainsburies delivery shortly so will have to get a move on!!
Lovely poem Ash. Hope you are feeling better Scentia
Hope you will be back soon marydoll
Have the best day you can folks!!
Good morning everyone from an overcast start to the day here on the east coast of Fife in direct contrast to yesterday’s glorious sunshine - I do so love wakening up to sunshine it gets me in the mood for what’s ahead.
I’m getting my hairdresser coming in today and I’m so looking forward to getting these highlights back in and the peeking through grey bits removed or at least hidden. I’ll try and send you a photo of this tomorrow.
Wishing congratulations to H on her 60th wedding anniversary today that’s some achievement
hope she has a wonderful day
sorry I’m not sure what her Gransnet name is
but another acquaintance through the Gransnet networking system. That’s what I like about Gransnet all the lovely folks who have come into my life since joining.
Have a lovely day folks! may the sun shine on you this day
Good morning from an overcast NE.
Heating is always on, if the temperature drops it switches on, nothing worse than a cold bathroom and damp towels.
Morrisons delivery this morning, couple of substitutes but I am sure they will be fine.
It is my youngest GD's birthday today, she is twelve, goodness me the time has flown over.
I am expecting to receive some photos on WhatsApp.
Have a good day everyone.
Hope you enjoy your few days away NanKate we will be there Sunday for one night (Burnham), then off to Corfe Castle Monday for a week.
Good morning from a very dull Black Country. We have not seen the sun for a few days now.
Had a lovely lunch out yesterday with DD, SIL, two DGD's and Mum. DD is back at school today, the children at her school go back Monday. Eldest who is just 13 is now slightly taller than me. She was so happy about that
A day of housework and ironing I think, and book a hair appointment, as I haven't been since May.
GrandMattie that was a priceless comment from Iris!
Wishing you all a lovely day
Good morning Mick and All.
Grey day in South Bucks.
Off for a few days to Wells. Will follow you NannyJan and go to Brean NT (thanks for posting the photo) we always like to visit the sea whenever on hols, there’s something about sitting on the beach with an ice-cream and watching the tide come in.
The weather looks better there in the West than it does here in the south east.
Good morning everyone. Same old dull weather, nevertheless
we are off to the seaside today with DGS. The north Norfolk coast which is our nearest. He is a bit old for playing on the beach but will enjoy a beach walk and lunch at a nice pub. He is nearly 19 and it seems strange that he can enjoy a beer with his Grandad.
Glad to hear some who have been poorly are recovering. Get well wishes to all who need them.
Hope you all find a smile in your day.
Good morning all from, as GG13 and Gingster have said, another grey day in Essex.
Food shopping shortly then we are going to Grays to pick up something that has been made for DH's boat. We may call in to Lakeside on our way back.
Eldest DGD is back to school today and DD1 and family are off to Legoland, a postponed visit from some time ago.
Enjoy Thursday whatever you may be doing xxx
Good morning and yes it’s grey again! , here in Essex.
Hoping the sun will shine tomorrow as it’s our Nieces wedding blessing. They got married in the Netherlands last year but wanted a family gathering here as her mum has advanced Alzheimer’s, and she wants her mum to see her get wed.
Bowls this morning and maybe my art club this afternoon. DIL is coming to trim DH’s hair.
We actually finished staining the decking yesterday and my back is complaining today, but it looks so much better. ?
Glad the sink hole is almost fixed GG
Love the poem Ashcombe.
Hope all your days are good ones ?
Good Morning from the Scottish Borders where it promises to be another hot sunny day!
We basked in the sunny garden yesterday. Today I'm going on a walk with the U3A. A bus first to get to the starting place.
I had better get a move on.
If your'e asking me Urms I would get a train to Cordoba. Such a beautiful city.
Hoping our absentees are OK?
God morning all from me in Cheshire.
Ashcombe I was delighted to see "Nicholas Nye" on your post ! Would you believe I learnt it at Primary school and can still recite it ! I love poetry and that one ❣️ stirred emotions in me as a child that I couldn't put into words. I felt such empathy for the human and pity for the donkey.
Thank you for reminding me of it.
GC back to school today. I hope all returning children have a lovely day.
Best wishes to all who are suffering - don't want to leave anyone out so sending
to all. Virtual, of course !
Good morning everyone. Another chilly, damp, day here in Durham.
Youngest GC at school today, one of them for the very first time. I do hope all goes well, especially with infection rates already rapidly rising again. Two GC had covid over the school holidays with only a short period of illness, but one still has an intermittent croaky cough which I do hope doesn't cause problems for her first day.
Today we're off walking in Melrose and staying overnight in Selkirk. A much needed break after a busy few days with GC. I think leaving the central heating on it's timer is going to be essential. Such a shame as September has barely got under way.
Wishing all the best day possible.
Good morning Mick and all who follow from another dismal day in the Black country.
Urms you weather description sounds so inviting have you got room for 1 more my passport needs an airing, if not can you send some our way please ?.
I think my duster will have a dance round as well Beechnut have visitors tomorrow so better make an effort.
Have a good day everyone and may you all find some ?
Morning Mick, morning All. The sky over our corner of Somerset looks heavy.
Had a good day yesterday, particularly enjoyed the three hour chatty lunch with my friend. Shopping trip today, need some bits ready for planned hospital admission next week. According to the forecast the sunshine arrival here coincides with my self isolation period. Cross, me???
Not long now scentia, avoid those paint pots greyd. Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.
Good morning from a grey Bristol. What is it with this apology for a summer?
I’d do it all, Urms! And blow the calendar, if it’s cold, put the heating on.
Conversation between DH and nearly 9 yo Iris.
DH - did you have an ice cream in Cornwall last week?
Iris - No
DH - But you should always have an ice cream when on holiday!
Iris (slightly sneering) - but I’m not a stereotype! ???
She’s just come down so must go.
Have a lovely day 3verone! ???☀️☀️???
