Good morning Mick and all who follow, our heating was on yesterday morning to take the chill off, so I would say go for it! I haven’t looked behind the curtains yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see thick clouds yet again here in Oxfordshire.
Hygienist yesterday and a good evening out with friends was just what we needed and we are off to the coast today for a few days, apparently they have sun! We will see.
Hope all have a good day with some smiles and a warm hug for those who aren’t feeling so chipper.

Ashcombe Thu 02-Sept-21 06:16:25

Good morning all from a sunny Sarthe, at last!

The patient (DH) has had a better night, thanks to Diazepam, after a somewhat difficult day. We completed a few errands yesterday, including refuelling my car, where we waited patiently for an elderly gentleman to fill his car via the pay at pump facility as the pay booth was closed. After he drove off, we found his bank card still in the machine so DH handed it in at the nearby supermarket.

I’ve attached the poem Nicholas Nye by Walter de la Mare for the donkey lovers among you. It’s a poem I learnt from my mother and have always loved.

Wishing everyone a happy day and thinking of the many in England for whom term starts. ???

Scentia Thu 02-Sept-21 07:07:13

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it should be a good day.
Three days to go!! I have booked a shopping trip with DD for Sunday a couple of seats at a local mini cinema The Red Carpet, for the following Friday to see Respect then a hair appointment for the Saturday. I have an order arriving today of new bathroom accessories so I have plans people, I am just about tearing my hair out now ?. I will clean my bathroom and put my new accessories in today, I have to take it easy though as I get breathless and tired quite easily.
Love the poem Ash
Mick I would put the heating on but DH will wait for October irrespective of the temperature?
Take care everyone and stay safe ❤️

Good morning everyone from Malaga where the sun’s just up ? and the shy is a sugar almond pink wash above the sparkling blue Mediterranean Sea. The forecast is for 29°C with a gentle breeze.

No idea what we shall do today. No plan. We have 2 weeks left now. Beach? Walk into Torremolinos? Train into Fuengirola? - easy as the train station is only a 5 minute walk from the apartment.

I finished my book yesterday. It was the best I’ve read in a while. I need to choose another one today.

Thinking of you with your girls over in Bristol this morning grandMattie - lovely! Glad you have sunshine in Sarthe at last Ashcombe! How’s things amselerin? Are you up to your eyes with sorting and organising these days? Moving is stressful at the best of times, never mind emigrating!

Enjoy Thursday all who can - hope scentia and gwen are over the worst now with their Covid infections. x

Beechnut Thu 02-Sept-21 07:13:28

Good morning everyone from an overcast Severnside.

Some bills to pay and on opening the cupboard door the duster tries to escape so I’ll let that out today for a dance around the house.

I’m finding my legs are getting chilly in the evening so am covering with a blanket. It’s too early for me with central heating. I would feel stuffy.

Have a good day all ?

brook2704 Thu 02-Sept-21 07:14:27

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s grey and cloudy.
It’s back to school today for eldest DGS, he’s looking forward to it so it’s just me and the youngest today. I think we’re going to the botanical gardens if it stays dry
Sounds like lots to look forward to Scentia ?
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 02-Sept-21 07:15:27

Morning Mick and all

Grey here in S E Essex.

The 6 yr old goes back to school today, as he is now in year 2 it’s a shirt & tie (reception and yr 1 are polo shirts) he is very excited.

We are hopeful that our sinkhole will finally be fully repaired today and that our road can be opened.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

baubles Thu 02-Sept-21 07:27:18

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where the grey skies are a huge disappointment after yesterday’s glorious weather.

I hope the day warms up in the east coast as it’s our childminding afternoon. Now that autumn is approaching we may have to rethink our usual routine of a little picnic by the beach after DGD’s gymnastics class.

I really must get up and into the shower while DH takes the little pooch to doggy day care. She absolutely loves her day there and races in as soon as the door is opened.

Have as good a day as you can everyone. ??

Greyduster Thu 02-Sept-21 07:29:28

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Grey grey grey in South Yorkshire and chilly with it. But no heating on yet. We are up early waiting for the decorator to arrive. 7.30 he said. Bet it isn’t. A trip to the butchers later and a day of trying to keep out of the way of ladders and paint pots!
Lovely poem Ash. Haven’t heard that one.
Have a good day everyone.

Daisytwoshoes Thu 02-Sept-21 07:31:41

Wonder if the sun will put its hat on !
Hope all those with illnesses or troubles feel better soon
Take care everyone and have the best day you can

grandMattie Thu 02-Sept-21 07:42:19

Good morning from a grey Bristol. What is it with this apology for a summer?
I’d do it all, Urms! And blow the calendar, if it’s cold, put the heating on.
Conversation between DH and nearly 9 yo Iris.
DH - did you have an ice cream in Cornwall last week?
Iris - No
DH - But you should always have an ice cream when on holiday!
Iris (slightly sneering) - but I’m not a stereotype! ???
She’s just come down so must go.
Have a lovely day 3verone! ???☀️☀️???

cornergran Thu 02-Sept-21 07:43:15

Morning Mick, morning All. The sky over our corner of Somerset looks heavy.

Had a good day yesterday, particularly enjoyed the three hour chatty lunch with my friend. Shopping trip today, need some bits ready for planned hospital admission next week. According to the forecast the sunshine arrival here coincides with my self isolation period. Cross, me???

Not long now scentia, avoid those paint pots greyd. Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

monk08 Thu 02-Sept-21 07:46:32

Good morning Mick and all who follow from another dismal day in the Black country.
Urms you weather description sounds so inviting have you got room for 1 more my passport needs an airing, if not can you send some our way please ?.
I think my duster will have a dance round as well Beechnut have visitors tomorrow so better make an effort.
Have a good day everyone and may you all find some ?

Annapops Thu 02-Sept-21 07:50:26

Good morning everyone. Another chilly, damp, day here in Durham.

Youngest GC at school today, one of them for the very first time. I do hope all goes well, especially with infection rates already rapidly rising again. Two GC had covid over the school holidays with only a short period of illness, but one still has an intermittent croaky cough which I do hope doesn't cause problems for her first day.

Today we're off walking in Melrose and staying overnight in Selkirk. A much needed break after a busy few days with GC. I think leaving the central heating on it's timer is going to be essential. Such a shame as September has barely got under way.

Wishing all the best day possible.

Grandmajean Thu 02-Sept-21 07:52:36

God morning all from me in Cheshire.
Ashcombe I was delighted to see "Nicholas Nye" on your post ! Would you believe I learnt it at Primary school and can still recite it ! I love poetry and that one ❣️ stirred emotions in me as a child that I couldn't put into words. I felt such empathy for the human and pity for the donkey.
Thank you for reminding me of it.
GC back to school today. I hope all returning children have a lovely day.
Best wishes to all who are suffering - don't want to leave anyone out so sendingflowers to all. Virtual, of course !

Grammaretto Thu 02-Sept-21 07:53:16

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders where it promises to be another hot sunny day!
We basked in the sunny garden yesterday. Today I'm going on a walk with the U3A. A bus first to get to the starting place.
I had better get a move on.
If your'e asking me Urms I would get a train to Cordoba. Such a beautiful city.

Hoping our absentees are OK?

Gingster Thu 02-Sept-21 07:54:00

Good morning and yes it’s grey again! , here in Essex.
Hoping the sun will shine tomorrow as it’s our Nieces wedding blessing. They got married in the Netherlands last year but wanted a family gathering here as her mum has advanced Alzheimer’s, and she wants her mum to see her get wed.

Bowls this morning and maybe my art club this afternoon. DIL is coming to trim DH’s hair.

We actually finished staining the decking yesterday and my back is complaining today, but it looks so much better. ?

Glad the sink hole is almost fixed GG

Love the poem Ashcombe.

Hope all your days are good ones ?

Sar53 Thu 02-Sept-21 08:04:48

Good morning all from, as GG13 and Gingster have said, another grey day in Essex.

Food shopping shortly then we are going to Grays to pick up something that has been made for DH's boat. We may call in to Lakeside on our way back.

Eldest DGD is back to school today and DD1 and family are off to Legoland, a postponed visit from some time ago.

Enjoy Thursday whatever you may be doing xxx

ginny Thu 02-Sept-21 08:06:49

Good morning everyone. Same old dull weather, nevertheless
we are off to the seaside today with DGS. The north Norfolk coast which is our nearest. He is a bit old for playing on the beach but will enjoy a beach walk and lunch at a nice pub. He is nearly 19 and it seems strange that he can enjoy a beer with his Grandad.

Glad to hear some who have been poorly are recovering. Get well wishes to all who need them.
Hope you all find a smile in your day.

NanKate Thu 02-Sept-21 08:09:29

Good morning Mick and All.

Grey day in South Bucks.

Off for a few days to Wells. Will follow you NannyJan and go to Brean NT (thanks for posting the photo) we always like to visit the sea whenever on hols, there’s something about sitting on the beach with an ice-cream and watching the tide come in.

The weather looks better there in the West than it does here in the south east.

NannyJan53 Thu 02-Sept-21 08:12:40

Good morning from a very dull Black Country. We have not seen the sun for a few days now.

Had a lovely lunch out yesterday with DD, SIL, two DGD's and Mum. DD is back at school today, the children at her school go back Monday. Eldest who is just 13 is now slightly taller than me. She was so happy about that smile

A day of housework and ironing I think, and book a hair appointment, as I haven't been since May.

GrandMattie that was a priceless comment from Iris!

Wishing you all a lovely day
