Having just seen NanKate’s post, I went back to yesterday’s ( having visitors so I’m not keeping up well at the moment) and I found grandMattie’s tragic post.

I’m so very sorry grandMattie. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. flowers

Nannagarra Thu 09-Sept-21 14:57:02

Nothing can be worse than the loss of a child. GrandMattie and her family continue to fill my thoughts and I'd like to join with other posters in the collective hug she needs.
How sensitive and thoughtful of you monk in delicately not mentioning your birthday yesterday. Belated birthday wishes are sent to you.
I hope all goes well for you today corner and my fingers are crossed that the situation soon improves for your DH harrigran.
To the Mattie family flowers

Good morning Mick and the GM team from grey east London.

Thinking of grandMattie and MrgM.

Condolences to Marydoll if she’s reading, on the loss of her friend.

Have a pleasant day Good Morningers and good thoughts to all who are struggling. ?

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy Lancashire coast.
My DGC arrives today for a visit before she leaves for university on Saturday.
It’s been a busy week so far, party in DS garden, DD here in between moving flats, music club meeting, singing etc. DSister and friend stayed breaking their journey north, girls meet up dinner in city centre last night followed by DANCING to Beatles etc and art group tomorrow. Could wish for a bit more spacing out after weeks of not much at all going on…
Hope you have a good day and such sad news about grandMattie, truly tragic.

EkwaNimitee Thu 09-Sept-21 10:36:54

Good morning, Mick and everyone from a brightish Carlisle where it has rained overnight. Fortunately I had mowed the lawn yesterday morning. It was 28C soon after so too hot for anything else.
I'm another who couldn't forget grandMattie and her loss. I'm the mother of two grown sons but even so it's hard to know the desolation she and her family must feel.
The best possible day to you all.

Good morning Mick and all from overcast but warm Anglesey.
Another here who can’t stop thinking of grandMattie and family. Such a tragedy, the loss of a child, at whatever age, is unthinkable.
Good news for your beautiful daughter Sar.
I’m glad that you had a good birthday monk and how thoughtful of you not to mention it yesterday when all our hearts were given to grandMattie. What a thoughtful husband you have too, the flamingo was a lovely idea.
Wishing you all a peaceful day.

glammagran Thu 09-Sept-21 10:15:28

I’m truly shocked to come on and learn GrandMattie has lost her beloved son so very suddenly. My condolences to her and other family members. There seems to be a lot of heartache at the moment.

My DD2 and family are having a holiday this week in Bouremouth and have been very fortunate with the weather. They asked us if we wanted to go but we declined thinking it would be mega busy. Wish we had now as the part of the beach they were on looked almost empty yesterday. Haven’t seen the sea since going to Thailand at the start of 2019.

Covid rates here in North Wiltshire are way above the national average. Yesterday’s figures were at least 3 times higher than at their height in January.

We learnt last week that our GP practice has been placed in special measures. No surprise at all. I haven’t attempted to contact them for months and was outraged when I used Drlink to put in symptoms and without my knowledge it gave me a face-to-face appointment for something extraordinarily trivial which I did not require and cancelled. A couple of weeks later I looked at my health record to find it had been marked as “did not attend appointment”. I’ve since had the entry removed from my record.

Good morning Mick and all, just a flying visit as I have to go out shortly. Will try to catch up on posts later. Hoping for a ? today.

Thank you AuntieFlo for passing on the message from GM. She will continue to be in our thoughts for some time to come.

Morning everyone. Yesterday I didn’t read the posts until late last night and was so upset to read GrandMatties post. My sincere condolences to her and her family, and also to Marydoll for her loss. Puts life into perspective doesn’t it. Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Auntieflo Thu 09-Sept-21 09:20:49

Grandmattie has asked me to let all the kind and compassionate Good Morningers know, bow much she and *Mr GM*appreciate their thoughts.

Gelisajams Thu 09-Sept-21 09:00:55

Good morning from a warm but cloudy Morecambe Bay though
thunderstorms are forecast later.

New neighbours have moved in next door arriving rather dramatically by setting the house alarm off before they knew the code. I couldn’t help. Eventually they got in touch with our old neighbour and managed to get in . They found the code on a list of helpful information left in the kitchen.

We should have been getting our new car today but it’s been put back till Saturday. The charging point was installed yesterday but we can’t get that to connect to the App. Hope this isn’t the start of problems to come. I like things to run smoothly from the off! Don’t we all?

Happy Birthday for yesterday monk08 hope you had a lovely day.

Take care everyone and stay safe ?

Greyduster Thu 09-Sept-21 08:56:35

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s overcast and warm in South Yorkshire this morning. We went up to the coast yesterday to make the best of the weather before it breaks down. It was a bit of a curate’s egg experience but the beach was lovely. On the way home, a cow wandered into the road from a piece of common grazing land and caused bit of a dangerous commotion. Why would you leave a herd of cows grazing where they can wander into traffic?
Belated Happy Birthday to Monk??, and a virtual arm around the shoulder for all GNs who need it today.

Good morning, all, from la Sarthe where it feels fresher after a brief rain shower yesterday afternoon.

My thoughts returned constantly to grandMattie yesterday and again on waking today. Words are inadequate at such times but so much love has been expressed by the GM folk. ?

If she reads this thread, I’m sure your flamingo ? adoption news, monk08, will make her smile. What a clever idea from your DH!

It must have been disappointing news for your DH, harrigran and I hope he is able to have the treatment soon.

Yesterday, I was relieved when our friend with the smallholding came to mow all the grass here as it’s a job I wasn’t keen to tackle despite (because of!) having had an initial lesson on the lawn tractor. She was convinced of the imminent arrival of rain and so it proved, with a shower late afternoon.

DH is making a little progress but is tired by the end of the day, needing help to undress. Tomorrow, he has a GP appointment for feedback on his scans at last.

Wishing a good day to all with light at the end of some very dark tunnels for those who are suffering. ?

Good morning from a very tired granny here on the east coast of Fife where it feels quite warm. What a night we had it was boiling hot even with the windows wide open and the fan going. I was awake early on feeling better than I did the day before.

My mind was racing about certain things irrelevant to getting well. However I decided to cease this nonsense, it’s out of my hands now. I’ll leave it there. I’m off this morning to the local community group where I’ve put my name down to attend every Thursday. There’s lots of old acquaintances there to chat to and have a coffee with they are also helpful in bringing my coffee to where I’ll be sitting as I’m unable to propel myself. Thank heavens for good folks.

Afterwards my dh is taking me to buy a pair of shoes which I need for transferring myself to the ladies room through the night. my old shoes have done well but in need of chucking out now they stink to high do blushand no amount of cleansing foam makes a difference.

Have a good day all, be kind to yourselvesflowers and others if you get the chance.smile

Sorry to hear about your friend marydoll it was indeed a sad day yesterday
Today it is a Sainsburies delivery this am, then a U3A meeting then the hairdresser. This evening it will be a zoom meeting with my ?‍♀️ sisters!!
Sad to see the beautiful weather disappearing. Will need to find out when my new dishwasher is arriving, cause DH has forgotten they don’t do themselves these days.

Have a good day folks

Good morning from East Ren. Where I stayed over after my DD accompanied me to a hospital appointment which I thought was a pre op discussion prior to having a cataract removed. I thought it had regrown after being first removed many years ago.
Turned out it was the artificial lens which was inserted then which had ‘wrinkled’ and needed to be refixed. It was done easily and painlessly and today it’s like a miracle, I can see so much better.

My condolences to Marydoll on the sudden loss of your friend, I will remember you and her family.

Good decision Urmstongran, I think our summer is departing!

Wishing everyone the best day possible at this sad time.

Good morning everyone from a grey overcast Northampton. Still feels quite warm though when I went to put the bins out.

Had a good outing to town yesterday on the bus - but hardly any passengers wearing a mask. Shall continue to wear mine, and will just have to learn to live with it I suppose. A successful visit to the bank, very strict Covid regulations with staff on the door restricting customers, returned two dresses to Next, and also popped into Smiths for an anniversary card for DD and her husband - 9 years they've been married, where has the time gone?

A short visit to the Well-being cafe in the afternoon (scrummy cake), then sat and read in the garden.

A Sainsbury's delivery this morning, then catch up with a bit of housework. Health walk this evening followed by a meal and wine at the pub.

Still thinking about grandMattie's devastating news; thoughts are with her and her family.

Take care everyone.
