70th birthday

How about afternoon tea n Fortnum and Mason followed by a west end show? I guess it depends on what you want to spend. I think wicked is quite good for children. Hope you find something x

Hi I will be 70 mid December and would like to celebrate it with something different from the usual meal or a stay in a hotel.
Christmas birthdays do pose a problem in the past snow and freezing weather have put a damper on the day and some places are closed ie I wanted to visit a lighthouse but all are closed.The group will be 6 adults 4 children ranging from 6 to 12 no Pantomimes I am totally stumped does anyone have any ideas
I live in Essex but willing to travel about an hour or two.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Also forgot to mention Christmas at the Albert hall, carols etc. I think you can hire a box x

When a good friend of mine hit 70y she decided, instead of having a big bash or holiday she was going to have 12 months of ‘mini’ events that were that bit special. Different small groups of her friends or family each month. Afternoon tea in a plush hotel for her bookclub buddies (I was one!), another month, a hog roast BBQ in her lovely garden for family, a theatre trip in the city for nurse colleagues she had worked with etc. She said she’d had a ball that year! Something special to plan and look forward to every 4 weeks that wasn’t a major event so no stress either! I may copy her in time ...

I had a big ceilidh with a live band for family and local village friends - people talk about it still - it was wonderful.

Fantastic Urmastrong that's exactly what Mr J and I do to celebrate special birthdays and anniversaries. Our celebrations go on for the whole year doing different things with different people, often with others who are also celebrating milestone birthdays and anniversaries. It beats spending just one day on a big bash!
