Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness

I woke to a misty morning and smiled because I love, love, love the autumn.
Possibly because I was born in the autumn or because I suit Autumn colours? Who knows ..

I love everything about it , the temperature, colours, smells , clothes , watching the harvest come in , getting stuck behind tractors included!

What is your favourite season?

Soroptimum Fri 17-Sept-21 13:37:45

Autumn is my favourite season too. Again, my birthday and on the run up to the ‘C’ word grin

Late Spring/Maytime.

Autumn all the way for me! It has a kind of spiritual atmosphere that makes feel closer to nature....the air is special...seem to be able to smell the country side even more than usual....the leaves, the trees, the earth... and the colours of the leaves before they fall, misty mornings & evenings, a certain stillness...very, very special time of year...love it!

I was born in June but hate summer with its humid heat and absolutely love Autumn and Spring. I can cope with winter and much prefer dressing for cooler weather than hot weather. The colours of Autumn are beautiful as is the welcome coolness.

NotAGran me too! I can hardly wait, as I endure hot days often with humidity that ruins sleep, until September comes with the long shadows, golden sunlight, clear blue skies and the warm but fresh feeling of Autumn - and the colours! My garden becomes a thing of beauty in the Autumn, as there is Boston Ivy along the back fences of the houses, and entwined in some of the smaller trees. It is heavenly - there is a poem about following Autumn around the world, and how lovely it would be to do that.

The summer is my absolute favourite! I was born in July!!

JdotJ Fri 17-Sept-21 12:01:24

Spring or Autumn

songstress60 Fri 17-Sept-21 11:56:28

Spring is my favourite even when it rains because all the flowers are coming out and the lovely light nights are on their way. I don't like autumn even though we have lovely colours because you get that awful darkness. I was born in February.

homefarm Fri 17-Sept-21 11:44:18

Yes Autumn for me, although I was born in the Spring.

grandtanteJE65 Fri 17-Sept-21 11:42:26

Winter - long dark nights starting early. Christmas approaching and after that the promise of spring.

Snow and frost, I hope and no need to feel guilty about the state of the garden, as no-one gardens in the winter!

I can bake, clean, polish and generally enjoy housekeeping, sew, knit etc.

LeeN137 Fri 17-Sept-21 11:41:24

I can't decide between Autumn and Spring - I think it's the transitionist in me, I tend to like the full-blown less than the transitional intervals.

Figs? If only ? fogs I meant

Anneeba Fri 17-Sept-21 11:37:33

I would hate to miss any of the seasons, but might cut down on the length of winter ... By the time February has come I've usually had enough of cleaning muddy dogs, no sun, no washing drying on the line and lingering figs. The bright days in winter along with the cosy casseroles etc are lovely, but could be squashed into a month or so please. Spring is such a miracle; I'm always relieved the plants and trees are going for it again. Too hot summers could have a little shaved off them maybe too, though I love not having to wear layers when out walking. Autumn is fantastic too. I'm Spring born.

Born in December but hate the cold so Sumer is definitely my favourite season

Severnsider Fri 17-Sept-21 11:31:26

Spring, I love watching for the first flowers - snowdrops, then primroses, bluebells - the promise of warm weather to come.

cupcake1 Fri 17-Sept-21 11:19:50

Spring as others have said the newness of it all and the promise of summer. I HATE winter and autumn is too close to that!

sunnybean60 Fri 17-Sept-21 11:18:14

My favourite season is spring and the promise of new beginnings

Audi10 Fri 17-Sept-21 11:08:52

Spring without a doubt, new flowers appearing, new beginnings, cannot stand winter

Missiseff Fri 17-Sept-21 11:04:10

Summer. HATE Autumn and Winter

Josianne Fri 17-Sept-21 10:52:20

Interesting HillyN. I have a spring birthday, I am blonde and fair skinned, but my vote is for Autumn. If my birth sign is anything to go by I should be under the sea anyway!

SillyNanny321 Fri 17-Sept-21 10:50:21

I love Spring when everything is fresh & new. So green & not burned by the sun. Though I do like the warmth of Summer & would have appreciated a bit more warmth this year I am not a fan of the extreme heat. Autumn is a pretty season but emphasises the horrible coldness to come in Winter. Winter is fine when looking at snow scenes etc but not for me.

HillyN Fri 17-Sept-21 10:45:00

Another autumn lover here, my birthday is also in autumn and I love autumnal colours. I'm now seriously wondering if there is a link between your birthday and your favourite season. Those of you who prefer spring, are your birthdays in spring?

jaylucy Fri 17-Sept-21 10:43:47

I have always loved autumn.
The wonderful colours of the trees and the feeling of the world slowing down, ready to be tucked up for winter.
Winter - a chance to stay indoors or go striding out over ground that is white and crispy with frost then home for a hot drink and to hibernate!
Spring is the world slowly waking up with longer days and the leaves unfurling on the trees, birds singing.
Summer with hopefully warm, long days . Time to lounge in the garden (once the grass/hedge/flowers have been cut) and meet up with family and friends for barbecues or tea in the garden.
Which do I choose?

sundowngirl Fri 17-Sept-21 10:42:44

I love the spring with all the fresh buds/blossom on the trees - the days getting longer and all the new beginnings. I hate winter and really dislike the autumn as its just a load of dead leaves waiting to fall. I suffer from SAD so autumn/winter are depressing times knowing that we are heading towards less daylight.
