Thinking that they would look after the more mature members of society,I rang for a car insurance quote.
Never again, price was a lot higher than my normal insurance costs.

Just proves the benefit of ringing around. For my small car the insurance quotes ranged from £800 to £250!

Saga is expensive for travel too

I'm 72, car insurance with RAC, paid £168 last year, incl breakdown.
Never liked the idea of over 50s anything, or even adults only.
Used to work in a school and love the wisdom of young minds, why deprive yourself of that?

For me, Saga were the cheapest this time around!

I had a savings account with Saga and they kept reducing the interest to lower levels than other savings accounts

I also found Saga to be very expensive, and when someone hit me, very unhelpful.

I now go to Moneysaving expert and go through the comparison sites, as well as approaching the companies that aren't on them. I have gone with Policy Expert for car insurance this year, and AutoAid for breakdown.

Saga tried to increase my car insurance this year by an eye watering amount, despite the fact that I've never made a claim and have retired since last year and therefore do far less mileage than ever before. I went on a comparison website and found that Rias offered more coverage for £120 a year less. Loyalty definitely doesn't pay.

I don’t drive but have been with Rias for years for my home insurance.. never any problems and no great price hikes either

Saga have often been criticised for punishing loyalty in their customers.
