However Dh's grandmother had 13 children and goodness knows how many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The OP is interested in direct descendants blood relatives she’s not being unfair or leaving anyone out it’s just a question she is interested in.

Why not include in-laws or step family? They are family too! Such a shame...

17, 5 children, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, but another due in January will take the total to 18.

I think this is a lovely thread but dislike the idea that it should only be blood relative. My son has brought up 2 step sons and they regard him as their father. They are, therefore, part of my family.

Nine. Two children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren-so far.
My mother, when she died, had about 18 great grandchildren.

I don't reckon I will be around to see great grandchildren.

Sadly for her, my mother did not get to see any of her greats and how she would have loved them!

I have fourteen direct descendants, but it tells only half the story as I am the matriarch of a huge clan that includes many others that weren’t born to me, but are undoubtedly members of our family.

10 - 5 children and 5 grandchildren so far. I was an only child so making up for it with descendants!
