Soop`s cosy kitchen for sincere and pleasant peoples

Good afternoon kitcheners. The weather is bonkers! It's the end of September and it's 20° in Scotland. Weird. I do believe it's to rain and get much colder tomorrow so today I have put a washing out and tidied up part of the garden. My new neighbours moved in on Friday and I've had a little chat over the fence. They both seem very nice and friendly so I'm handing in some lemon drizzle cake which I made this morning. I've got a steak and sausage casserole in the slow cooker too. I hope you all have a good afternoon.

Hellogirl1 Your day out sounds perfect. I imagine that it put a on your face and a spring in your step.

This afternoon, Mr Soop has been really helpful. We've updated the lengthy summary of drop-bot appointments and procedures spanning ten years. The new file is spot on.
I've cleaned my shoes, several times, laundered my outfit in readiness for the special appointment at Ross Hall. I have high hopes.

I’m just in from the garden after a busy but enjoyable day. Normally at this time of year we have loads of butterflies on this plant but this year it’s just bees ? I wonder what’s happened to all the butterflies

My the kitchen moves on at pace. I haven't a hope of keeping up.

Grampy and I are just chilling after a weekend full of fun with the little boys and their parents. We celebrated Oktoberfest ( it runs from Sept to Oct and I am just grateful we only had one night to do it lol ).

They have gone home today , so we will take a day or two to recover. Hopefully that will give me time to do my back up reading !!

Our living room faces west so we get the afternoon sun and and he will sit there with the sun shining down on him and look a bit of a blonde bombshell ?. Hasn't it been another beautiful day? Hard to believe it's almost October!! If the weather forecast is to be believed, we have a few unsettled days ahead ?☂️. Finished the cardigan for DGS - before he grew out of this one I might add!! DD1 tells me her ward are in desperate need of twiddlemuffs and although she's on maternity leave, if I knit them she will get them there!! I've made lots in the past and are so easy and enjoyable to make - it's nice to think they are helpful to both the patients and the staff. Mr BA and I are making the most of the late sunshine with a little bbq - nothing special and just us. I'm sure a glass or two ?will be enjoyed ?. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday dear kitcheners

GrandmaBatty a twiddlemuff is a knitted "muff" whereby you can put your hands inside - they are knitted up with oddments of wool (bright colours are best) then adorned with buttons, bows, beads etc. Anything so long as it is fastened securely. They are given out to dementia patients and they do help to stop them pulling out cannulas, drains etc. They are one use - when one is given to a patient it stays with them and goes home with them. They are never reused, hence the constant need for more. They are used generally on elderly wards throughout the NHS and in care homes. I'll see if I can find a photo of one of my previous makes and post it. I think the original pattern I have was from the charity Knit for Peace

Hi kitcheners, the last of the lovely weather today with a family bbq. My son asked to go into the loft, cue small feet thundering upstairs with him, children love lofts! Down came board games and odd artefacts, much reminiscing and laughter, joyful memories. Last bbq without the chiminea and blankets I expect, but a lovely afternoon, me flashing my teeth!!
Well soop you’ll have the wishes, prayers, shamrocks and all sorts of hope with you tomorrow from us lot, doing the bestest we can for you and with you.

I’ve seen very few butterflies this year, we noted that back in the summer. Plenty of bees, though and far too many wasps - they’d built themselves a nest under the eaves.

As the weather was still warm and sunny this afternoon we cracked on with the garage and it is finished! There’s another car load to take to the dump & recycling but that’s the end of it. It’s still not exactly empty but some stuff will stay if/when we ever move, such as spare carpet bits and tiles. Some things will be used up, such as compost and firewood. It’s all manageable now, that’s a relief and I’m very happy to have it done. Now to move on to the house!

‘Evening All’.

Just done our Day 2 PCR tests back from Spain. Also our L’il Miss (aged 4y and just started in Reception at school earlier this month) had her own PCR test done by appointment in Salford. She is well enough, no temperature but coughing ++ and looked heavy eyed today. Her mummy decided it was what ought to be done - for the lovely Rachel her childminder pre- and post-school and school itself. She did cry though having it done, bless. Hopefully it’s just a winter virus that any child could get on starting school but nowadays the first thought has to be ‘is it Covid?’.

We have volunteered to go over tomorrow at 8am to mind her for the day while she isolates awaiting the result. I said we’d been ‘up close and personal’ in bed together last night anyway. Fingers crossed none of us have it but it’s sensible to be cautious at this stage.

I had a sleep this afternoon to play catch up. It was much needed!

I have all the ingredients ready for my two Delia Christmas Puds. Grandmafrench Using veg suet as DD will be having one. Had to go in search of some decent stout though as I couldn't find one for the Sainsbury's order.

soop. I have a build diary - started in June 2016 with our planning consent. This is the first photo I took on 7 August 2017. The lovely people that have helped with all the work are listed. I look forward to the day (perhaps early next year - Easter?) when they are all welcomed to the drop in on us weekend to celebrated their work and us moving in: from Rob, who dug the foundation trenches in 2017, to Phil who tomorrow will be laying the blocks for a tarmac area to park.

After a super long lie in for both of us today, I swept up what seemed like a ton of gravel from the 803 pile outside that has worked its way inside and MrM has cleared an area for our new water tank.
