Grandmafrench has persuaded me into the kitchen ! I have been reading the posts for a bit and came back earlier to check on your cosultation Soop. I think you are wise to mull it over when you have had some initial investigations. You are a brave lady.

Cedric is my son and family's kitten. They have Dobby too ( one year old) Cedric came from the same breeder and the family were delighted to find that Dobby's new " brother" actually is related. They share the same father. So glad you like him. Will try to get a pic of Dobby too.

Looking forward to the tartan boots ! I bought my son a tee shirt with a picture of "Oor Wullie" on it but with his name printed instead of Wullie. He ( son ) has been stopped by Scots in our Cheshire village several times asking where he got it ! For those who are not familiar with Wullie , he is a Scottish cartoon character much loved north of the border and was also familiar to my English DH who is from County Durham originally.

I’ve really enjoyed the good news from Susan56 and from muse about Mr Muse having a better day on Monday post dressing change. Anytime now your DD should be arriving, muse; I bet you’re thrilled.
I think there are many encouraging signs soop in that the surgeon finds you positive, has (without being obvious) taken in many details about your health just by looking at you and is highly experienced. Early November will soon come at which point he will be honest about the likely outcome and you and Mr Soop can make your decision. My fingers are crossed that all goes well.

Oh Grandmajean AND LauraNorder in the Kitchen. What a Wednesday! Lovely to see you both and Laura you have great talent. If you'd like to draw us some menus for the Kitchen occasionally, that would go down as well as the real thing, I suspect. It would also avoid piling on the pounds!

You asked about my lunch out GrandmaB. It was a very ordinary French lunch (though delicious) but special to us because we hadn't eaten out on our own for the very longest of times. We had a couple of goats cheese nibbley bits with some smoked sausage and an apéro, followed by Moules, followed by a small cheese platter, followed by Panna cotta with salted caramel sauce and meringue, and a pichet of chilled local rosé.

The temperature was a sunny 27 degrees and I was glad I wore nothing with long sleeves. We sat on the edge of a terrace, just out of the sun and I was flabbergasted to see a little red squirrel racing along and climbing palm trees in the Port. Over 20 years I have lived in France and have yet to see a red squirrel. Today's location was the last place I would have expected!

NannaG The microwave, we guess, must be the only one in France which will fit the space occupied by one on its last legs now. It isn't just a microwave, it's another oven, something that grills (we hardly ever grill), it crisps pastry and pizzas and quiches, it bakes and roasts, and defrosts. And probably other things as well. It has one drawback - it's made by Whirlpool who are fairly well known for not understanding the words, 'customer service, after sales or maintenance'. So perhaps it will do none of the things it promises! Even the store we bought it from take the same view. I have tales about my washer and dryer made by the same illustrious bunch which would make your hair stand on end, but maybe not before bedtime, eh?

However, there's a big factory in Italy, not far away, and it's better than trying to order something which has no discernible delivery date, so we've bitten the bullet - it'll be here on Friday morning. (With some luck and a following wind, I suspect!)

Hope little Oscar gets some help and feels less anxious very soon, Yia. So sad for little kids to have to process the awfulness that the world has gone through these last two years.

Grandmafrench that sounds delicious except for the moules. I'm not a fan of mussels or seafood in general. The wonderful photo is so evocative of the south of France. Grandmajean my children still get The Broons or Oor Willie annual at Christmas from my mum. I once wrote a panto for the school when I was teaching called Snow White meets the Broons. A late one from me as spur of the moment we decided to eat out at our favourite Italian restaurant here in Urmston. It’s family run and just perfect. Plus it’s literally around the corner. The owner welcomed us like old friends which was very sweet especially as we’ve been away all summer.

Lovely to see ‘old friends’ back in the kitchen tonight. It’s so cosy to open the door here and find favourite peoples have dropped in! This is such a comforting place isn’t it?

Yiayia sorry your DD isn’t well and that your DGS suffers from anxiety. Some children are sensitive to worries. Hope he’s ok.

I’m glad you’ve had the consultation and it is just a few weeks until you have the exploratory procedure. At last things are happening. I hope there is a satisfactory outcome for you.

SueDonim that is an excellent idea -I love turkey but I prefer the legs and I have no idea what happens to them! I have little space inside my freezer drawers but I do have sirloin steak. That is preferable to a boiled egg for Christmas lunch.

I gave in this evening and switched on the heating. It was 10C here and dropping to 4C later.

I’m disposing of yet more old paperwork today, the shredder is working overtime!

I have been productive this morning. I cleaned the inside of the fridge which badly needed it, to my shame. Then hoovered everywhere. I also did some painting. I took my kitchen aid to my dd as she's making cupcakes for a baptism and I have ordered a turkey roast, chipolatas,bacon, stuffing and a steak pie from my local butcher so Christmas and New year should be ok. I have a Tesco delivery later so the fridge and cupboards will be replenished. This afternoon I'm watching Angela Lansbury being Miss Marple on talking pictures and working on a cross stitch. It's an autumnal day here again. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Well I’m in shock,I have just been sent a pre op assessment for hip replacement for next week!! I have a big birthday and anniversary party booked for November and we are going away with the family for Christmas.My GP said it would be at least 6 months wait!!My own fault but will have to hope I can get it done in the new year.

Thank you all for your kind words about Oscar.My Dil has extreme health anxiety and that’s just making him even more anxious.He’s waiting to see a child psychologist and hope that will help him.It’s awful to see him so upset.

Grandmafrench Cedric is a sweet pussy cat. The photo isn't good and clear enough for me to use for portrait painting. Perhaps Grandmajean can take more close up images. I need to see detail of facial features.
Right now, I am about to begin a portrait of a fluffy dog belonging to our neighbour. The neighbour will be celebrating a significant birthday in early November. I need to have the portrait finished well before I begin drop-bot procedures. After which, I shall be free to enjoy other more pleasurable activities.

Yiayia You have every reason to be surprised by the suddenness of the pre-op assessment appointment prior to hip surgery. It is a very busy time for surgeons who have a vast backlog to deal with because of Covid. Please tell us whether the surgeon can fit you in in the new year. It would be shame to have your celebrations shelved. Fingers crossed.

Yiayia I understand your concern about your DGS’s anxiety.
Hopefully, he will be able to talk to the child psychologist about his concerns and that will help him. I hope everyone treats him gently and tries to understand his anxiety not force him into situations where he gets upset. Having been there may I offer comfort in that children grow up and with that growing up they become more confident in themselves and learn how to cope better with life. I hope he gets the help he needs soon and as a by product maybe your DIL can receive some help too.
