Well, this kitchen is lovely, I love the cool decor and colourful rugs.
I think I should have typed www.westwoodlakes.co.uk as the other doesn`t seem to work.

Another day, another dump - sorry, recycling centre - run for us. That’s another load disposed of from the garage. We then came home and started on stage 3. It’s a double garage, btw, hence it’s taking so long. The car is full up again so I’ve booked another trip for tomorrow to get rid of it. Loads of paperwork today. No idea why I had kept school exam prospectuses from 2004 in amongst the clutter. Once the garage is cleared we can do more in the house as there will be room to decant stuff as we go.

It was another glorious day here, wall to wall blue skies and sunshine and a pleasant 18-20deg. I was also immensely cheered to learn that at long last we’re allowed to travel to the US. We’ve no plans immediately to go there to see our son but knowing we can makes all the difference. Scotland’s travel rules are different and more difficult than England’s but that won’t be a problem as we’ll just book flights from an English airport.

Have a nice evening, everyone - I’m ready for bed as I had to bathe when I got in from mucking out the garage! grin

Urms a sunny disposition is always welcome. I shall bask in the glow of your radiance ?
Nannytopsy working in the garden and doing the ironing. You must be worn out, good job your DH made a lovely curry to sustain you.
Grandmabatty so pleased you had a nice birthday. Wow a book as a gift, will the author sign it for you?
Susan that’s a good idea. As long as you can remember where you’ve put them ?
soop you are always so accommodating to others, you take the time you need. So much happens in the kitchen these days because it’s so popular that we can’t all keep up with everything.
If I don’t mention everyone it’s not because I haven’t read through. I just can’t remember enough to post to all.
brook sorry about your DS. Mine did the same years ago. Make sure he gets it checked properly. My son didn’t have it operated on when he should have done and now has a lump on his shoulder. Doesn’t cause him a problem though,
Muse pleased you have heard from your DS and he is ok.
That’s an amazing plant.
Jaxjacky hope Imogen gets on ok and has all the required scans etc. Lovely hair, so shiny.
Take care all . TOYA ?

Yiayia4 Mon 20-Sept-21 20:38:09

That’s a very unusual plant Muse.
We’ve had Boris dog today. He won’t go near the lounge everything is out of place as we’re decorating and he hates it!
Your gd has beautiful hair Jax hope she gets her scan soon.
Good night Kitcheners sleep well.

Had a trip out to a neighbouring town’s beach where having no sense at all I walked much to far along the flat promenade. I blame the sunshine tempting me on. Let’s go and have lunch in the garden centre say I. The Butler beamed, it would have worked if a coach party hadn’t arrived at the same time. Goodness, did they move at speed. I had no idea coach travel made people so hungry [grin ]. We retreated to the patisserie where tea and a scone kept the wolf from the door (anyone else’s Mum used to say that?). The Butler turned chef and cooked for us this evening, I was disappointed for him, he said it didn’t matter. A keeper I think.

I’m not sure if it’s a reaction to being literally pushed aside in the garden centre, post covid booster or just part of recovery but it’s been hard to keep cheerful today. Oh well, tomorrow will be better.

You’re taking the first step soop, a beginning is good. Your granddaughter has beautiful hair jax, agree with your thoughts about the consultants secretary usually very helpful people. Hope your son mends quickly brook, no matter how big they are it’s hard not to be able to see them after an accident.

Brain power has left me now so I’ll wish you all a good night and restful sleep and leave you with some of the last garden roses of the summer, still a few buds to open.

Good evening the Kitchen and all the lovelies within.

Had a very productive day, but tiring. Wonder why vacuuming and then steam mopping all the floors takes such an effort. Looks lovely and smells lovely but with those dogs, a return bout will come around far too quickly.

Rather a strange experience to relate. I opened a fresh tin of Purina Gold mousse cat food for my cats the other evening. They made a huge fuss for food just before my bedtime and then didn't eat it all. So, I spooned the food they left into a fresh dish to cover it for the morning and to enable me to put the dishes in the dishwasher. As I picked up the food in one dish with a fork, it broke up and I saw that inside the meat and untouched (thankfully) were two tablets/pills/drugs? - one whole and the other a bit battered!!

I stood for quite a while staring at the dish. I didn't look up towards the ceiling but may as well have done. Where on earth could these have come from? What are they? How could something like that come out of a new tin? Etc., etc.,

This was Saturday night. I decided to fill in their very detailed on-line form on Sunday, to register my problem and provide details, photographs etc. As with so many online forms,, the blessed thing wouldn't send. I tried everything and eventually gave up.

This morning after 20 minutes holding and being assailed by the worst, crackling and tortured bit of classical music I had ever heard on a phone system, I hung up and decided to contact the UK. Very helpful person did confirm that I needed to contact the country where I'd bought the food. They gave me a contact number. I phoned and again, 15 minutes waiting and nothing. I then got annoyed and found a telephone number for Nestlé's head office. They actually had an English answerphone message before asking one to press the correct button. I confirmed that I would like to speak in English because the line was really bad. They put me through to someone who was very helpful but said that she was the Accounts department. I went back to reception, but on hold and then again put through to the Accounts department.
So........Accounts department (possibly bored with a slightly fractious Englishwoman banging on about their duty of care towards my cats) gave me the Nestlé email address.

Big mistake, maybe! I fired off the whole lot, including photos and a harsh resumé of their company's seeming lack of interest in any contact with the outside world. By the end of the day, we had a response in very polite English and then when I arranged to speak tomorrow, as requested, I was contacted again - after 6.30pm (possibly from someone working from home) with the promise that they would try to get to the bottom of what happened and speak tomorrow! Yaaay!

So, hope that your mornings were a lot more fun than mine today. The afternoon was spent in cleaning and laundry, but the morning was not the way I would ever want to spend most of a morning! Especially a Monday! Tomorrow, hopefully, may go more to plan. I have tea and cake on offer from a wonderful Swiss friend who has just arrived in the village, and early tomorrow I can catch up here with my lovely hairdresser who will be guaranteed to keep me in fits of laughter AND give me a good haircut into the bargain. She's the one who coughs a lot behind her mask to clear a decent space in the supermarket when people get on her nerves! She is always upbeat and fun. Just as long as she has coffee and 'something English' to snack on - she's in heaven. She says! So, ginger biscuits I think.

Love your plant, Muse. (By the way my Clematis Tie Dye has Wilt! Another reason for a bad mood today! ) I've said before how much I love Imogen's hair, Jax. Fabulous. I expect lots of us have a garage just ready for your attention, SueD !! I'll let you have my address, just in case you feel the urge for another clearout.......shall I ?

Nighty night everyone, sleep well and keep well!
Hugs to all from French France x

Grandmafrench Mon 20-Sept-21 23:03:32

Just seen.....you're a very naughty girl, Corner. A bit too much too soon, I think, but can't blame a girl for trying I suppose.
Shame about the coach party. Maybe not so much hunger-driven but just en masse, very competitive and probably the worst possible time for you to be trying to order food. Never mind, you do have the loveliest roses!

And so sorry to hear about your poor Son, Brook. Maybe he should try to think that he's lucky to be able to feel upset about his work, if you know what I mean! Because even though he's not in intensive care, it doesn't mean that he shouldn't take the proper time to get over the shock and allow himself to heal. He's not a machine and he won't want to have future problems because he was distracted and not sufficiently focussed on getting himself better and properly fit to work again!

.

Nannytopsy Mon 20-Sept-21 23:55:13

My gladioli are finally in flower! What a strange year - several dahlias haven’t made it yet.
Lovely to hear all the activities but very frustrating in France!

nanna8 Tue 21-Sept-21 00:57:49

Oh they are so beautiful, what an unusual colour! Are they late flowering in the UK ? It is freezing here, think the global warming has missed us!

Nannytopsy Tue 21-Sept-21 08:22:09

It’s been a funny summer here Nanna, without much sun during July and August, so things are late. Plus, we are still developing our garden and some things had to wait for their flowerbed to be dug out of the lawn. ?

soop Tue 21-Sept-21 14:13:41

Jax Imogen's hair is amazing. Hoping that all goes according to plan and that there is a positive outcome.

Urms (hugs)

muse Wow! I lurve your impressive Fasciluaria bicolor plants.

brook Your son is a good person for not wishing to let others down. However, he has sustained a nasty injury. He deserves plenty of time in which to rest and fully recover.

Thank you, dusty x and BladeAnnie x

soop Tue 21-Sept-21 14:20:46

Thank you, Doodle corner et al.

Grandmafrench I am appalled! How can those whatevers have found their way into the cat food? It beggars belief. I would have blown my top. Do update us please.

Back to the easel. Arty farty hat on and ready to do a certain pussy cat justice. wink

BladeAnnie Tue 21-Sept-21 14:27:23

Afternoon dear kitcheners - just popping in to say a quick hello. Sainsburys delivery arrived this morning so that means a trip to take my mother her order. And will she be pleased to see us?? No I wouldn't think so at all! I just wonder why she still has the ability to make me feel like a naughty child ?. Enjoy the rest of Tuesday ?

Grandmajean Tue 21-Sept-21 15:10:19

I am horrified, too, Grandmafrench that something so sinister could get into pet food. Please tell us how this story progresses.

Grandmabatty Tue 21-Sept-21 17:03:50

I've just dropped off the boy wonder after a very energetic day so I'm feeling knackered. Grandmafrench I'm disgusted at Nestlé and I hope there is compensation in the offing. BladeAnnie my mother is never pleased to see me! Soop I have a hefty voucher for hobby craft so tomorrow I will buy new canvasses. Enjoy painting the puss. Cornergran beautiful roses but don't overdo things. Doodle the novel comes out in November and will be signed by the author. She also sent me a happy birthday message too so I was very happy. I know I have missed out some kitcheners, so a general wave to you all. A bit like the queen. This grandma is having lemon sole and chips with garden peas for tea. But a little rest first. Have a good evening all.

soop Tue 21-Sept-21 17:23:31

Thank you for the regal wave, Grandmabatty, although you cannot see me, I'm waving back.

A pretty successful afternoon thus far with the pussy cat portrait. I shall now take a break. Always better to leave things be if they are progressing well. Otherwise, I am tempted to fuss and spoil.

My love to you all. Apologies for not spending as long with you as I would wish. The day disappears in a flash, it seems.

Until tomorrow. smile moon

soop Tue 21-Sept-21 17:24:38

Almost forgot. The latest photo of the four great grandchildren.

Grandmabatty Tue 21-Sept-21 17:29:08

Beautiful children Soop

brook2704 Tue 21-Sept-21 17:30:22

Oh my goodness grandmafrench how awful to have found those things in the pussycats dinner. Such a good job they didn’t eat it, I hope you get some explanations pronto.

Another busy but enjoyable day today, I did my Fitsteps dance class this morning - it sounds good but really it’s just prancing around trying to look elegant …. then I popped into town to grab a few things.
On the way home I stopped off at DD2 house only to find all her washing strewn over the garden as the washing line had snapped in the wind. I collected it all in for her and put it on the indoor airer - luckily I went round really as goodness knows where it would have ended up - probably the other side of Inverness

Thank you all for your kind comments about DS and his broken collarbone. He’s feeling a bit better today although he’s definitely not a good patient!

BladeAnnie I had a mum like that, I was always feeling guilty as I lived a distance away and although I visited as often as I could it was never enough. I do miss her now though as she’s no longer with us.

Hope you have a restful evening grandmabatty you deserve it

Beautiful gladioli nannytopsy and roses cornergran they’re all looking lovely in the kitchen. Thanks for the pictures

brook2704 Tue 21-Sept-21 17:31:45

What beautiful great grandchildren soop you must be so very proud!

Blossoming Tue 21-Sept-21 18:53:12

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. A flying visit as I’m not feeling too well today. Beautiful photo soop. That’s shocking Grandmafrench, I hope they make a suitably apologetic response. Hope your son is feeling better brook, it sounds painful.

Nighty night, TOYA [flower]

Urmstongran Tue 21-Sept-21 19:22:11

‘Evening All’.

Another joyous afternoon with my LWW ??
Last one until the NY at least. Said ‘ha luego’ to Maria Carmen who owns the little bar where we meet every Tuesday. (No-one says ‘hasta’ ... lazy Spanish here!) She drew me into a proper hug - I felt like one of her amigas.
? ?

I love my life out here. Sunshine, tapas, friends, no calls upon our time, the smell of pine trees and proximity to the Mediterranean. What’s not to like?

Ah well, 3 more sleeps.
Then I’ll like it back in Urmston for different reasons.

Urmstongran Tue 21-Sept-21 19:23:42

P.s. sorry you’re feeling under par Blossoming. Hope you feel better soon. x

Jaxjacky Tue 21-Sept-21 19:35:04

brook ouch and double ouch for your son’s injury, that may take a while to heal. Gorgeous flowers, gladioli (dame Edna?) and roses, do they smell as lovely as they look corner?. muse your plant looks like it’s saying ‘feed me’ rather alien looking, says she who kills all house plants!
I think you have the most photogenic GGC’s soop they look scrummy.
Busy day, walk around our local lakes, the sun was warm, a lift as part of my voluntary work, then the farm shop and the butcher. Butcher had an offer on, 1k sausages for £5, that’ll do for our Saturday bbq, vegi ones for Imogen bought separately. Back to sort out the greenhouse, the three tomato plants left in after the blighted one was removed are still producing and I’ve got three melons now!
Blossoming take care.
Catch you tomorrow kitcheners x

Nannagarra Tue 21-Sept-21 19:53:47

Good evening kitcheners. SueDonim, may I be added to the list for garage clearance after Grandmafrench? (I may need to sedate DH first.) My DS came off his bike, breaking ribs and his collar bone in two places a few years ago. Eventually all healed and he’s had no problems since if that’s of any consolation, brook. Your plant is beautiful, muse; how green-fingered you are. Hopefully Mrmuse is pain-free and feeling comfortable after his extended treatment yesterday. Imogen has gorgeous hair, Jax. Any news of her scan? Gosh, corner, a trip to a garden centre sounds perfect but not when there is a stampede and you’re just getting back on your feet. Please take care. What wise cats you have, Grandmafrench. Purina didn’t manage to pull the wool over their eyes and they won’t get away with it with you either! I’m sure you’ll keep on the case. Your hairdresser’s tactic is worthy of a round of applause. The photo of your DGGC is beautiful, soop. Get better soon Blossoming. Enjoy those last few days Urms. Have a satisfying time painting soop and hold those positive thoughts. (Sorry if I’ve missed some people.)
Like brook I’ve been prancing about (allegedly doing Tai Chi), having had a dip in the ‘cement pond’ and am only fit to slump in front of GBBO. I’ll leave Grandmabatty to perform the regal wave; here’s mine
?!
Until we meet again.

Dogsmakemesmile Tue 21-Sept-21 19:56:38

Evening kitcheners. Lovely to read of your exploits and adventures. My best wishes to all who are toiling. Looked after gc today. Read one book over and over to my toddler gd. Only about eight pages. I read and read to my children when they were little and it was a delight to replicate those days. Also built a rather impressive Duplo tower...
A difficult day in that I was informed there is Covid in my mother's nursing home. My thoughts are with all residents and staff. I know thousands have received such news over the months. Best wishes to you all.x
