What gets sticky stuff off glass? If anything….

If you have leftover mincemeat, cover with a thin layer of brandy...keeps for years ...and gets better and better...??

All done - 6 lbs should just about make enough mince pies for the ?? in this house - plus a few for the neighbours, of course.

I keep my home made mincemeat in the freezer. However, I use a recipe that doesn't have any alcohol in it.

I have two full jars from last year and no-one is that keen on mince pies except DH and me so that should be plenty.

PS Callistemon, I’ve just been making my first batch of Delia’s mincemeat, and her recipe says she’s kept it for up to 3 years.

I use nail varnish remover, usually does the trick.

I also use the Lakeland sticky stuff remover, I find you need to apply it and let it ‘work’ for a few minutes to make it easier to remove the labels. Some come off easier than others though.

Sticky stuff remover from Lakeland works every time, I have removed labels from glass, plastic and metal and it works a treat on skirting boards when you get black scuff marks.

I make pickles chutneys and jams some very thin plastic labels are very hard to remove. I soak them in fresh boiled water then I use a round metal pan scourer and washing up liquid. I keep repeating the process until the label has gone.

Do you think last year's homemade mincemeat will be ok this year?

I’ve still got a little of last year’s - maybe a quarter of a jar - I shall have a sniff but I’m sure it’ll be fine.

In the past I’ve used a previous year’s shop bought mincemeat often enough - don’t see why home made would be any different.

I've some excellent stuff called 'Sticky Label Remover'. It works very well.

Not sure if it's still available, I've had mine for ages, but this sounds similar

Nail varnish remover. Goo Gone.

Solution of borax or soda crystals with washing-up liquid in hot water. Microfibre cloth.

I use one of those scrunchy pan cleaners the silver ones gets it off a treat.

WD40, elbow grease, an ice scraper.

White spirit works for me.
