2 of our household members are positive for covid but the rules state that anyone double jabbed or under 18 and can go to work or school.

I'm usually a stickler for following rules but this feels morally wrong!

Sorry am not sure what you mean. Those with symptoms have to isolate, those who are symptom free dont have to, is that what you mean. If I was them I would have a test.

Yes they are thankfully, general aches and pains and they had temperatures but nothing paracetamol couldn't fix. Already on the mend after a couple of days being unwell (fingers crossed)

Just to clarify, the rest of us can go to work and school, the 2 that tested positive must isolate

If your child tests positive for coronavirus:
Child shouldn’t attend school
Child self-isolates for at least 10 days from when symptoms started (or from day of test if no symptoms)
Inform school immediately about test results
Whole household self-isolates for 10 days from day when symptoms started (or from day of test if no symptoms) – even if someone tests negative during those 10 days
They can return to school after 10 days, once child feels better, and has been fever-free for at least 48 hours. They can return to school after 10 days even if they have a cough or loss of smell /taste. These symptoms can last for several weeks once the infection is gone.

Yes the rest of you can go to work/school. I would probably take a test if I was them. I know a number of households where only 1 or 2 people got covid.

Anyone who tests positive following the PCR test will still be legally required to self-isolate, irrespective of their vaccination status or age in order to break onward chains of transmission. Meanwhile anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms should self-isolate and get a PCR test, and remain in isolation until the result comes back.

Sorry I am a bit stressed about it so it hasn't come out very well.

2 positives and the rest of us negative.

The positives are of course isolating.

I would just feel more comfortble if the rest of us isolated too. I'd hate to infect anyone else because the test was wrong or too soon.

I feel better hearing that other households have managed without everyone getting it.

Violet I understand how you are feeling. I work with vulnerable children and my greatest dread was that I gave it to one of those children. It's important to rationalise this I think though, this is a virus and it's not a question of morality. You arent doing anything wrong by going to work or whatever

Thank you that really helped. I also work with children but I can take precautions

My granddaughters have only just started school. Two pupils have tested positive but my dil said the children have still got to attend. I think that is wrong now the very youngest children are going to be the most vunerable.

VioletSky, I would feel obliged to stay at home - to be on the safe side. After all, the tests aren't very accurate and it's most infectious for a few days before symptoms begin.

We don't have to just follow the rules. We can use our own judgement too.
