Things I have bought but hardly ever used

Kenwood chef with all attachments, took longer to clean than use.
I preferred my old, much cheaper mixer.
The mix goes all up the edges of the bowl with the Chef and I'm very disappointed with it.

I'm another steam mop failure. Really fancied it but found it a faff to assemble and gave up very quickly - probably too quickly. Unlike me not to persevere. Can't explain my failure here but it happened.

A spiraliser and a soup maker. Much prefer a big pan and stick blender.

A ukulele. Thought I’d teach myself to play it. Gave up after one attempt.

I have been known to buy clothes just a little smaller than currently required as I intend to lose weight. Big mistake.

A George Forman grill thingy which I bought when our cooker died and was waiting for the new one. (Got fed up with slow cooker meals). Have used it about three times. Still sitting in the cupboard under the sink. Might try doing bacon in it in the morning - or then I might not.......

I love my steam mop by the way! Hated using a mop and bucket.

I’ll own up to a juicer and a pasta maker. The former made a right mess and was a devil to clean. The latter remains in the cupboard but its days are numbered.

I really don't make that many cakes. Make me an offer anyone?

I have bought and given away a juicer, a breadmaker, a yoghurt maker (possibly two) an electric steamer, a toastie maker a twintub washing machine (just when automatics were coming in)
I was thinking of buying a steam mop...............

DD has those silicone muffin things, I managed to break all the little cakes and burn my fingers as they are so bendy.

A ukulele. Thought I’d teach myself to play it. Gave up after one attempt.

Oh dear, I’d completely forgotten about the lovely red violin I bought on eBay in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2001 when I may just possibly have had, ahem, one or several drinks too many. Apparently I’d made much of my New Year’s resolution to learn to play a musical instrument. It’s parked in a corner of our bedroom in its case and I still haven’t got round to booking those lessons.

These posts are ringing so many bells with me.
Potato ricer, seldom used since I only used it to pipe duchesse potato and now never make them.
Vegetable steamer, I cook most veg in the microwave which is effectively, steaming.
Spiraliser, never used.
Ice cream maker used a few times only.
Silicone bakeware, used once and taken to charity shop, after a few years though.
Bread maker, as others have said, used to make dough for pizzas regularly and occasionally other doughs which are oven baked. I would buy another if this one broke.
Kenwood food processor, must be 35 years old or more. Used when I make quiches these days as it makes the pastry, grates the cheese and beats the milk and egg filling, so saving time and worth the washing up as I make a few at a time. To be honest those jobs are the only uses I have ever used it for but obviously when we had a family it was good for batches of pastry.
I do still have Denby teapot and coffee pot which were rarely used in the 41 years I have had them, but since they match the rest of my tableware I am loath to just give them away. Who would want them?

the buttoneer.
a small manual gadget for attaching buttons, on little plastic tags.
will only do two sizes and on thinnish cloth.
and i probably don't have the strength to push it through now.
but it was useful on occasions. and didn't cost much.
the main part of it looks a bit like a cotton reel, with two holes at one end where prongs come out.

A power washer for the garden. Used by a neighbour once,
Icecream maker ×2 .
A soup maker.
A toasted sandwich maker.
A large square divided frying pan .
In the garden, a tiller, a corded strimmer, a heated seed tray.

So pleased that I am not the only one who bought, tried and then gave away those silicone bun trays.
Always managed to stop myself buying a spiraliser - had a feeling I would only ever use it the once.
Used once and then gave away a microwave sandwich toaster - did this soon after I moved home, then found I had brought with my electric one, which is far quicker and easier to use.
Twice I tried bread makers - twice ended up giving them away.
Ice-cream maker - the type that needs the bowl to be kept in the freezer. Managed to sell that on as only used three times.
Juicer - loved it and used quite a lot, but could not cope with the faff of cleaning it.
When I retired I treated myself the ridiculously expensive VITAMIX. Due to the cost I worked hard at using this as often as I could, but eventually gave it to one of my daughters. A Soup Maker and my stick blender does nearly all the things that does at less than a tenth of the price!!
I bought one of those apple peeling thingies, one of my daughters' swears by hers, but never got on with it. Sharp knive is quicker and easier.
When I moved house, and sorting out cupboards I found I had four different garlic choppers. Strange as I rarely use this.
Magnetic window cleaning gadget. Marvellous when I saw it demonstrated at Ideal Home Exhibition, never worked for me, outside bit just fell off.
Vacuum cleaners, tried so many and most so disappointing. Dyson - far too heavy and expensive for repaires, Uprights of various makes - again heavy and disappointing, cylinders - just cumbersome and disappointing. Three years ago discovered GTech cordless upright and handheld and no need to look further - everything I have ever asked for. Light to use, powerful, easy to empty and clean, easy to store.
Coffee machines - do wonder why I have purchased these, I drink very little coffee myself. Also tried the pod ones, pretty weak and tasteless. All went to charity shops when i moved home.
I really dread to think how much money over the year I have wasted on these gadgets. Still have to stop myself purchasing new ones.

i also bought a kind of blade on a spring with tiny chopping board, for cutting fruit and veg.
looked easy on the tv demonstration.
its a JML item, some of which are v good. and i came across john mills whose company it is, through my work, and he seems a good person.
but the chopping blade required more force than i could find.

I have had a lot of the gadgets discussed here. I still have a steam generator iron but don't use it. It's heavy, doesn't fit on the ironing board and I never remember the right settings to make it steam. I'm not very good at ironing and have weak, arthritic wrists and hands but this does not help.

I loved my toastie maker! It never stuck, wiped clean and was really solid.
Still have it but only get it out for family these days.

I love toasted sandwiches but they are so ILL thought out for cleaning aren't they?

I have a juicer that sits in the cupboard unused. I really should find out if it could go to a good home. I think I used it about three times. The other gadget I have is a deep fat fryer - used just once and unlikely to ever be used again as I have to watch my saturated fat intake these days, so it, too, needs a good home.

Teacheranne, we have a Karcher window cleaner, bought by dh. He very enthusiastically used it once (inside of windows) but that was about a year ago.
Must remind him to get his toy out again - the state of the windows when the sun is on them is not a sight I care to behold.

A microwave sandwich maker. What piece of rubbish that was.

Son gave me an electric can opener, but didn’t work for me.
Two flower presses. I really fancy drying flowers for craft work, cards etc., but never get round to it.

Sodastream ..loved it in the 80s as a teen and bought a modern one awhile back and don't think I used it once. The intention was there but didn't resemble the one I recall and pyschologically that mattered I guess.
