Have you ever been on the phone for so long you've forgotten what you are calling for?

I was on to Outpatients Appointments yesterday. 5th in queue for 30 minutes, handed phone to DH and went to hang washing out, said to shout me when we got to about 3rd.

Suddenly jumped from 5th to a real person answering, had to dash inside!

Hadn’t forgotten why I was ringing though.

I phoned the doctor recently and was told by the automated voice that I was first in the queue.... and it rang and rang and rang.....nobody answered so I gave up and tried again later.

Yes, in a queue for 43 minutes a couple of weeks ago to a govt body. Ridiculous but at least my request was dealt with in three minutes and the resulting documents arrived as promised in the post.

I sometimes feel that since covid my life has been illustrated in memes.

I was on hold to the accounts department of my gas supplier for 15 minutes before a voice cut in to say this service was no longer available.

My sympathies are with all of you sad flowers

My phone call was successful and reached a resolution today smile

The dwp.
I was on my house phone for so long that I just got to say hello and then the battery died.

Not on the phone...but I have sat in my doctors waiting room for so long, I got better!

Callistemon Tue 28-Sept-21 17:56:34

Trying the number for appointments at an NHS clinic today for 14 minutes - 'our call is important to them' but not important enough to answer. After 14 minutes it rang out.

Yes I could remember but lost the will to try again.

I once held on for making a GP appointment, being 11th in the queue. I had put my phone into speaker mode so that I could use my laptop while waiting. When at last it was answered, I forgot that I was already connected and pressed what I thought was the answer button instead of just speaking, thus cutting myself off! I won't be doing that again!

JaneJudge Tue 28-Sept-21 17:27:10

I managed to get through and the lady spoke to was really helpful and is ringing me back tomorrow HOPEFULLY with a resolution.

It is a good job I rang as it was lost in the ether sad

Helen657 Tue 28-Sept-21 16:37:34

Hope you got through!!!!
And remembered what you wanted ?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 28-Sept-21 16:37:23

Yes to our GP Practice since Covid…

JaneJudge Tue 28-Sept-21 16:35:08

Argh I meant on hold not on the phone
I am losing the will to live

JaneJudge Tue 28-Sept-21 16:32:20

I have been on hold for 31 minutes now and I am first in the queue.

It is to the council too. What is the betting they'll cut me off now it's 4.30pm?
