Good Morning Thursday 30th September 2021
(43 Posts)Good morning all from dark, chilly East Yorkshire.
Yesterday I popped into town as I needed to buy a new tea tray. The one I was replacing was a wedding present. It was an M&S one that’s lasted 37 years! I looked in TK Maxx but it was a nearby large Tesco which had one I
preferred. On getting home I noticed on my receipt I had been charged twice. So I will return to rectify that ?.
Housework for me today then dgs after school. I heard on our local radio station that the steam train Tornado is passing through our local station this morning. I might walk up and have a look. The guy on the radio said it would pass here at 8.39 but I found it in a brochure that said it was leaving town at 9 am which means 9.10 here. I might be there a while! Just heard while typing on the radio they are at the station in town awaiting it’s arrival so I might get a better idea of timings.
Harrigran it will be much comfort for you to have your DD with you. ?
Grandmattie I am full of admiration for you facing these tasks ?
Sorry you’re not feeling well Susan hope you will feel better soon.
Thinking of anyone else with worries/problems .
Take care all.
Good morning all from a soggy looking North Leicestershire
Not much going on today here but a friend is coming for a
on her way past later on and we must make an appointment with the vet for our senior cat.
Harri, sending you love and strength and a hope you take the good advice given by maw. Look after yourself.
Good morning . Dry but overcast for our last day in Bournemouth.
Yesterday was sunny kid a bit breezy. We did a tour on the open top bus to Poole and back, on the top of course.Fish & chips and ice cream and a ride on the little road train, Lots of walking. Light supper and drinks in the evening. Home today via Christchurch and after lunch we’ll say Goodbye for now to our friends.
Glad your day went well yesterday GrandMattie.
Harrigran thoughts with you and glad your Dd will soon be with you.
Hoping for a smile in the day for everyone.
Good morning from a dull, damp Essex by the sea, it's also not very warm.
My eldest granddaughter and the whole of her year, year 9, have been told to stay at home until Monday as Covid is rife at her school. Her, my daughter and son in law went for PCR tests last night. All schools seem to have a lot of cases at the moment.
My thoughts are with Harri and Mattie and I hope your journey goes well Ash.
Food shopping later and not much else today.
I hope you can all find a ? and a? or two along the way today xxx
Morning Mick and all
I am up and on Granny duty, hope you all have a gentle day.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a wet and windy start to the day, much cooler too. I’m half way through sorting out my winter clothes and swapping drawers over, sandals are all cleaned and put away and boots are out!
Off to the gym later to try a different class and then coffee with a pal.
harrigran good that your DD will be with you soon ?
Safe journey home Ashcombe
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning all from wet N Bucks.
I have an Arts Society MacMillan coffee morning today- I have to be there by 9 to help set up and will be there until 1 to help clear up. I wonder how many will turn out on such a miserable morning.
Thinking very much of you GrandMattie at this sad time, yes it brings families together - but how hard to go through the pain and sorrow of loss. Harrigran my heart goes out to you too. I hope having your D with you will be both a help and comfort to you both. I am concerned about the extra strain on your own health - I know the relentless hard work involved, usually with far from adequate sleep and woukd respectfully suggest you “farm out” some of the domestic burden eg the laundry and ironing?
Susan I hope things improve for you too and for everybody with pain or worries.
My concern about my chocolate brownies (which I think are far too rich and sweet) for today’s coffee morning absolutely pales into insignificance. I might just take my name label off the tin.
Good morning, all, from the Sarthe, where a sunny day is expected for my journey to Ouistreham for the 16.30 ferry.
Your patience with the inexperienced staff at the estate agency is commendable, grandMattie. I hope a buyer is soon found; the property market is quite buoyant currently. I’m glad your DGS was pleased with the waistcoat. Enjoy the coffee morning, a welcome treat!
I hope you and your DH soon feel better, Susan56. There are some nasty colds going round, I believe. How lovely for you to have your DD to stay, harrigran. A boost for you both!
Thoughts with those in pain of any kind and the ever growing list of absentees from here. ???????????
Good morning - not sure what the weather is doing as it is still dark.
My heart goes out to you Harrigran pleased your daughter is coming home.
It will indeed harri.
Harrigran it will be good to have your daughter home.
Good morning everyone from South Manchester. Can’t believe it’s the last day of September! It’s still dark at present but the train station over the road is lit up like a Christmas tree. Ooh, the 6:30am train to Liverpool Lime Street has just pulled in! No early morning commuters got off.
It’s chucking it down here. I need to go out later to buy a gift for my stepfather’s birthday. I think I’ll go to the independent book shop up the road. They always have nice gifts as well as books.
No heating needed here (yet) but as I sip my tea I’ve just put on a cardigan left on the sofa (I hate dressing gowns - all that material around my legs!). I don’t feel chilly in my pj’s with sleeves but remembering the mantra “it’s easier to stay warm than to get warm”.
?
Hope you feel better as the day goes on Susan56 - shows how nasty these viral bugs are right now and probably our immune systems are pretty shot after all this social distancing. Keep warm, well hydrated and snooze when needed.
I’m amazed at you tackling your late son’s house clearance and sale grandMattie I don’t know where you draw your strength from and glad to hear the waistcoat was a perfect fit. You are so very talented.
Good morning Mick, morning all from dark and wet South Lanarkshire.
Sorry to hear that you are still unwell Susan. Our missing posters are on my mind too.
Enjoy your meeting with your friend Mattie.
I’m early this morning as it’s childminding day. I think we may have to take the girls home after the gymnastics class if the weather is bad. Not ideal as their Mum is working from home and it’s difficult to keep them away from her.
As always I wish everyone a peaceful day.
Good morning from a dry NE.
Got to lie in until 4.50 this morning, DH is now asleep again and I am wide awake.
I got the washing and ironing done in between running up and downstairs half hourly to give DH a drink of water, refusing food because it makes him sick. Nurse coming today so must discuss better anti nausea treatment.
Rang my sister, in Germany, and told her about DH. She said if I had told her she could have helped, I fail to see how as she has not been to the UK for two years.
DD will be leaving Brussels just about now and will be here in the NE this afternoon, I haven't told DH she is coming.
Thanks for caring and all the messages I have received.
Good morning from a dark E Kent. Haven’t the mornings got dark suddenly?
The final cleaning of Philip’s house went well. We then went to an estate agent to put it on the market. We were greeted by a lovely boy who had not a clue, he’d only been working the a week, and the young secretary who’d been there three months…. It was all quite funny and very sweet at how hard they tried!
Our DuL (daughter un-law), GS’s mum, came to help and we had a lovely pub lunch together. She took DGS’s waistcoat with her. It fits perfectly! I’m so pleased and he is delighted.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at our posh hotel this morning. They have big sofas and deep armchairs, just right!
harrigran, my heart goes out to you. I hope you’ve all had an easy night, and things are not so worrying.
Carpe diem, enjoy your day, love well. ?????????
Good morning Mick and all to follow from Shropshire.
We are still not well hence the early posting after a disturbed night?
Thinking of mattie?and harri?
Also thinking of Mary,Lins,GrannySomerset,EV and all our missing good morning friends. As Urms said yesterday so many are missing.
Good Morning Everyone,
From a dark and wet start to the day here in brackley this morning.
my usual plans to get the bus to Bicester and do my usual coffee stop at a bakery cafe which is at the rear of the shop, although today a reduction of tables due to the pandemic being available, but I enjoy as staff are friendly .
Take Care,
Mick
