Good Morning Everyone,
From a dark and wet start to the day here in brackley this morning.
my usual plans to get the bus to Bicester and do my usual coffee stop at a bakery cafe which is at the rear of the shop, although today a reduction of tables due to the pandemic being available, but I enjoy as staff are friendly .
Take Care,
Mick

Good ? afternoon Mick,
Somewhat windy here in Suffolk. I hired the local tennis court for an hour and took the dog for a game of tennis. It's sadly never used in the village ( or rarely anyway ) .
Rana loves chasing the ball of the lead. She's a sight hound so couldn't be of the leash unless enclosed areas.
I'm feeling positive and reading a good book called The power of now . X

Good afternoon Mick, Annie, Marydoll and all..
late again!
We were awaiting delivery of a piece of furniture, which arrived and unfortunately was damaged on inspection. The damage will be hidden when assembled, so we have arranged a partial refund.
I am in the process of making a quiche, and as I haven't made one for a while, I hope it turns out fine.
Another result, our brown garden waste bags were not collected yesterday, and after a phone call to the council this morning, the bags have now been collected.
Thanks for letting us know about Elizabeth1, Multicolouredswapshop.
Thoughts to Harrigran and her DH. I do hope that you are getting the help that you need.
GrandMattie you are amazing. Please make sure that you are taking care of yourself.
I am missing Marydoll and her novellas, so sending best wishes and fingers crossed that she returns some time soon.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning from Forest Hill South East London. Rain has refreshed the garden but weighed some of the flowers down in our garden, now it is bright and breezy. Will be putting the clothes line away for winter today we put the warmer quilt on last night.

Jaxjacky Thu 30-Sept-21 10:23:41

Thanks for news on Elizabeth1 * multicolouredswapshop*.
Hi GrannySomerset ??.
Safe journey Ashcombe we know Ouistreham well!

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 30-Sept-21 10:12:35

Good Morning all from soggy windy and wet Harrogate, I've changed my mind about going into town!!
Thank you multicolourswapshop for letting us know about Elizabeth - are you going to join us for a while? Glad to know she is OK.
Susan I think I have one of those horrible viruses doing the rounds just now, it's just a snottery cold that I've had for over a week and tests say negative . It might be finally easing off. fingers crossed!, expecting 2 drowned rats to return soon from a walk - that is one man and a dog!
Had a lorverly sleep last night snuggled in my winter duvet, think it's time to put summer clothes away, don't think they will be worn for a while now!
GrandMattie and Harrigran flowers flowers

Have the best day you can folks!

Greyduster Thu 30-Sept-21 10:12:12

Good morning Michael and all GNs. I am VERY late this morning - we slept in!! Maple has our weather spot on, so a good job we got a walk in yesterday, but the wind was cold. I spoke to DD and she thinks she is “coming down with something” but is testing negative. It will probably be the same thing that has floored by DiL for the past week and she also tested negative. Flu jabs for us this afternoon. Other than that, a quiet day of housework and ironing.
Harri??. Thinking of you and your DH.
To all, have the best day you can.

aggie Thu 30-Sept-21 10:05:12

Good morning everyone posting or reading ?
Nice to see you GrannySomerset , enjoy your meeting
It’s wet and miserable here , trying to decide if I should put on the heating or another fleece. I have a log burner but it has never been lit , I think it would be too hot in here , I put battery fairy lights in it , cheers up the space

EkwaNimitee Thu 30-Sept-21 10:00:48

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark damp Carlisle. So dark that I slept in an extra hour this morning. I've already run the vacuum round so the rest of the morning is admin and chasing people to get things done, something I feel ought to be unnecessary.
Yesterday I was texted by the surgery to make an appointment for my covid booster, which I did immediately. Three jabs are not going to stop me worrying about meeting up with my GC over the Christmas/New Year period though as I gather covid is rife in schools and I don't think a dose will do me any good even after the 3 jabs.
harrigran, I'm glad to know you will soon have the support and company of your DD. You and grandMattie are constantly in my thoughts.

Morning from a very wet S Lanarkshire. A housework (very much needed!) day today.

Have a safe journey home Ashcombe, you must have very mixed feelings this morning.

Thinking very much about our struggling grans and like others, missing our absent friends. Warm wishes to them all

Good morning everyone and welcome to a wet day in Northampton. Not long been up, as I dozed in bed till 9am, and was only stirred by one of the cats coming to sit on my head! Think I was enjoying being warm and cosy under the winter duvet. I put the heating on again for a while yesterday evening.

Had a nice day yesterday, with a good bus/walk to my book club. I'm afraid we only spent about half an hour on the book, with the rest of the time being spent on general gossip and putting the world to rights! I then set out on my trek home (no return buses) only to find elder DGD leaping out in front of me which was a lovely surprise. I then walked home via her house, and saw DS cleaning the windows, so was invited in and enjoyed a glass of wine. DS then gave me a lift home. How nice to be able to have these happy events these days after the trials and tribulations of the last 18 months.....

Sainsbury's delivery later, so must make an effort and get showered and dressed. Health walk this evening followed by a meal and wine in the pub. Although if the rain continues we shall forgo the walk and go straight to the pub!

I am hovering on ordering a gilet which I have just seen in an email from Fatface (a favourite store of mine). It is dearer than some I have seen. but are on special offer. Think I might give in to temptation, as it is far nicer than ones I've seen previously elsewhere.

Thinking of harrigran and grandMattie, and all others with worries. flowersflowers

Good morning all,
It’s a showery and blustery morning here in South Yorkshire although we have a brief respite from the rain at the moment.
I will come back later and read all the posts, but it’s almost time for my Pilates class, so I’ll have to make this brief.
? Harrigran and grandMattie and to anyone else facing difficulties today.
Take care everyone.

hollysteers Thu 30-Sept-21 09:07:06

Good morning Mick and all from a dull Lancashire coast,
Into the city this afternoon to have my roots done, one can only go on for so long with root spray, but heaven knows I stretch it out.
My brother in law’s partner is not at all well in the south and now has carers and is on oxygen. As he is in a nursing home (with covid) it’s a sad time for her. I’m keeping her supplied with books by an author we both like and she is going through them at a rate of knots.
I saw a doctor face to face yesterday as I have a sensation, not pain as such, in my left breast and with my history, she is arranging for my mammogram to be brought forward. Hopefully it’s referred pain or something from my gammy shoulder. It’s hanging over me now and I’ll be glad when it’s over.
?harrigran and grandMattie.

Good morning everyone my dear friend Elizabeth1has asked me to tell all you kind folks she’s gone under the radar for the time being she’s okay so no one is to be concerned

GrannySomerset Thu 30-Sept-21 08:58:55

Grey, cool and damp morning but am cheered by the prospect of expensive carer this afternoon so that I can go to my U3A book group this afternoon to discuss “Hamnet” and just enjoy ordinary conversation.

DGD1 entertained me yesterday with telling about the James Bond premiere where she was part of the large hospitality team though nowhere near any stars. She much enjoyed it though and is combining working for an events company with pulling pints in a Soho pub, all good experience and means she is a beneficiary of the shortage of staff. She simply took her CV in to various likely places and got three offers in an afternoon.
This spell in London is possible because she has lots of people to stay with for a week or two, and is enabling her to take some special violin lessons.

Life here is as demanding as ever and not going to improve but doesn’t compare with what Harrigran is facing. Thinking of her and of our missing posters.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 30-Sept-21 08:56:06

Good morning to all and especially Harri and Grandmattie. You have an army of gransnetters behind you.
Dull and dreich here in the Scottish Borders. Not pouring though. Just stripped the bed and will attack bathroom soon. DH has taken tomorrow off as a surprise. Hopefully we will go somewhere. Not far because of the fuel issue though hopefully that will subside. Have a good day everyone.

Oldbutstilluseful Thu 30-Sept-21 08:43:01

Good morning from a damp NE Hampshire. Safe journey home Ash. Really hope you don’t get caught up in some petrol queues when you arrive in the UK. They could make a long journey even longer.

Good advice on here Harrigran, I hope you feel able to take it and relax with your daughter. You deserve some tlc ?

How lucky was that young estate agent to have you as a customer granMattie. I’d bet you made him feel proud of himself. You really are a remarkable person and how lovely the waistcoat fits.

Really hope that a prescription I’ve been waiting for for over a week finds it’s way to the pharmacy today ?

Anniebach Thu 30-Sept-21 08:37:14

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Pittcity Thu 30-Sept-21 08:18:20

Good morning from rainy Colchester.
I am doing an extra day volunteering at the charity shop today as the managers are having a bonding day. They're not looking forward to a long walk in the rain!!
Jay's online quiz with the family tonight. We've done it via Zoom etc every Thursday since March 2020 and we really enjoy it.

Love and hugs to all x

Jaxjacky Thu 30-Sept-21 08:03:42

Good morning Mick and all from a dry, overcast S Hants. I had a busy day on the phone yesterday sorting out clients, lots of lifts needed, especially as Covid boosters are now going ahead. I have two drives today, then some garden tidying before it rains. Susan let’s hope you all start improving soon.
Thoughts with you harrigran and grandMattie, you both take my breath away with your strength.
May you all find a ? or three today.

NannyJan53 Thu 30-Sept-21 08:02:21

Good morning from a very dull and rainy Black Country.

Seems like I may do the ironing today, as the weather is so horrible outside.

Keep thinking I must go to Sainsburys petrol station to see if the queues have died down. I have less than a 1/4 tank, but want to go to Wolverhampton Saturday to have lunch with an ex-colleague. I can always go on the train though!

Yes, so many missing posters, I often wonder if EV is ok, she was such an interesting lady.

Lovely that your DD is coming to stay harrigran sending love to you all.

Thinking of all with health issues and worries.

cornergran Thu 30-Sept-21 08:00:01

Morning Mick, morning All. Dry and cloudy in our corner of Somerset after overnight rain with more forecast during the day.

A pottering around at home day today. We’re both pretty weary so will take things slowly.

You must be exhausted emotionally and physically harri, I’m relieved your daughter will be with you. Sending love and a hug. I’m sorry you feel so unwell susan. Look after yourself mattie, your coffee venue sounds just right. Safe trip ash.

Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is gentle with us all.

Grammaretto Thu 30-Sept-21 07:59:36

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders where it is tipping down.
I am off by bus to catch a train using my tickets and railcard on my phone for the first time. I am not at all sure about all this new stuff. How will I know the carriage and seat number when I can't see without specs.
It will be good to see DD and the bairns.
flowers for Harrigran

Grandmajean Thu 30-Sept-21 07:56:49

Good morning from a gloomy Cheshire.
Enjoy your coffee with your friend GrandMattie I think about you a lot.So glad the waistcoat is a good fit.
Having your daughter with you harrigran may ease your burden a little.
Grandmadinosaur you have made me realise that I never check receipts ! I always assume they will be correct !
Have as good a day as possible everyone.
