Thought we may do a Halloween tea for the DGC as this year (and last year) their parents don’t want them to go door to door as they usually do.Anyone else doing this, and what are you planning to serve?

My daughter lives on a new estate, mostly young families.
Halloween is quite a big thing, as it isn’t religious, so everyone can join in. A pumpkin outside or in the window indicates it’s ok to knock for a sweet and all the children taking part are accompanied by an adult.
Harmless fun.

No, we’ll be here, with a pumpkin in the window, dishing out mini packs of Smarties or whatever to local kids.

Gdcs (1 1/2 hours away) will almost certainly be having a riotous do with friends at home, though. I’ve bought them a spooky light-up house (a fiver from M&S, not plastic), some pumpkin-face fairy lights (also not plastic) and some glow in the dark balloons. Dd always sends lots of WhatsApp pics so I dare say Halloween will be no exception.

I always make our pumpkin into a Thai style spicy soup the next day - waste not want not!
