Help! The old kitchen door is locked. I'm wandering hither and thither like a lost soul. Has a new kitchen been opened please? I hate being this side of the door.

‘Evening All’.

Just home, pj’s on, cosy and hot pot on the hob over a low light. We’re back from fireworks in the smalls garden. We were lucky - the rain held off, they at hot dogs and we all watched pretty fountains (my favourite), crackling ones, rocket shooters and the children held sparklers. L’il Miss was in awe of it all.

I’ve just chatted with our Yorkshire Lass. She & her partner fly out to Hamburg tomorrow for a holiday, visiting relatives of her partner. His Omi will be 99y next month and she is very much looking forward to seeing her grandson again - they’ve not seen one another since pre-covid. What a reunion this weekend for them all!

Sorry to hear little Henry is still poorly today Susan56 poor little sausage. Hope your day was great anno! x

That looks like a lovely sky dusty thanks for the picture. It’s dark early here too and getting quite cold, we don’t have any mains gas where we live so we have oil central heating (expensive) or electric - very expensive ?

Sorry to hear about grampys painful joints nanaandgrampy I hope he gets a bit better soon although it sounds like a long wait … if you can get some youngsters to help then good for you!

I’ve had a good day today, a fun splash around at the Aqua class at the gym and then I popped into town. I should have been meeting a friend for coffee but she postponed until Monday. But then unexpectedly DD2 phoned and we met up in town. Another one of those listening sessions with cups of tea and cake! I enjoyed it though and then we got a few bits and bobs bought for Christmas. They’re all off to watch some fireworks in town this evening with the DGC and asked if we wanted to join them but tbh I just wanted to cosy up on the sofa ?

The colour hasn’t come out very well , it’s actually a deep red glow.

dustyangel Fri 05-Nov-21 18:00:30

Oh soop I meant to say that I love you little dog portrait, I could happily take him or her home. smile

dustyangel Fri 05-Nov-21 17:58:04

I hope you a having a wonderful day with your family anno and an fitting celebration meal tonight. You were one of the first names I saw when I found Gransnet so I feel as if you’re an old friend. Enjoy tonight?.

And belated birthday wishes for Yiayia and Greyduster I hope you had a lovely day. I know there was a wedding anniversary to be commented on but can’t remember who it was. Jax ? Or someone else. Congratulations to all concerned. ???
DH and I were just talking about couples retaking their vows. I honestly can’t see the point presuming you meant it the first time. DH thinks it’s a nice idea. ❤️

The sun is setting now which means it will be dark and much more chilly soon. Neither of us can remember which type of heating we had in the bedroom last year. Our heating is all electric and we have either air (expensive) or underfloor (very expensive) I think we need the bedroom one on now but DH doesn’t of course. grin

I am pleased with the progress of the pussy cat portrait. Will spend more time refining it tomorrow.

A good note on which to close the computer and enjoy a brew.

I trust that we shall meet again tomorrow. Thank you for being you lot.

smile moon

SueDonim Bravo! You deserve to have a lazy day after all your busy activity and mileage traveled. Your mother will appreciate your support with renewing her Blue Badge. I have one. It is a blessing.
You have taught me a new word - "shoogle" - I love it.

Back to the drawing board. wink

annodomini Fri 05-Nov-21 13:22:52

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. Having a quiet day so far. Staying with DS2 and family who are all at either work or school but have a plan tonight to meet up with DS1 and family for a celebratory dinner. No fireworks though. I've always enjoyed a good display but now wouldn't fancy standing around getting cold!

soop Fri 05-Nov-21 13:20:37

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you...
Happy birthday dear anno
With our very best wishes for a lovely day. flowers in abundance.

Ann Sorry to hear the sad news. I fear that Covid is going to be around for a very long time. We must all do our best to abide by the sensible rules. I cannot understand why anyone avoids doing so. We're in this pandemic together.

N&G Dear Grampy must be feeling lousy right now. To make matters worse, he has the added frustration of waiting for whatever and whoever may be able to deal with his pain and help him to recover. I feel his pain.

Susan Poor Henry is certainly suffering a very nasty reaction. Feeling nauseous and being sick is horrible for we adults. Even worse for a child to deal with.

Susan56 Fri 05-Nov-21 10:28:18

Happy birthday Anno.Hope you have a lovely day?????

Sorry to hear about Grampy’s back/knee/hip?I have made a list of the jobs and stuck it on the calendar so we can stop talking about what needs doing.Things are getting ticked off very slowly?

Henry is better than yesterday although just been sick again?DH brought a bowl of soapy water in to clean it up and now Peppa pig and friends have been added to the bowl??

Today will be spent in the conservatory as it’s an easy floor to clean!

NanaandGrampy Fri 05-Nov-21 09:31:36

Morning all,

Happy birthday Anno hope you have a lovely day.

Sorry to hear your news Ann , I was disappointed not to meet up with my siblings last weekend but marginally less sad when yesterday both my brother and sister got a positive Covid test. Neither are seriously ill at the moment , thank goodness for vaccinations. But my sister flew home to Spain after the weekend so that makes me doubly glad I'm not planning on flying anywhere , any time soon !!

Belated birthday wishes to yiayia and Greyduster.

Grampy is not happy at the moment, what appeared to be a simple back fix at the osteopath didn't stay fixed and now has a knee/hip/back that gives way at every opportunity and an inability to walk more than a 100 yards !

He has to wait for an MRI which they said will be weeks if not months , a physio appointment that appears to be by telephone ( which I imagine is about as helpful as a chocolate teapot) and then some sort of diagnosis. So back to the osteopath in the meantime it is .

I deserve the medal though as I have to listen to him list endlessly the job he should be doing :-)

I'm thinking of getting a couple of good looking young chaps in to cover for him;-) ...well the grass does need a final trim !!

Happy day all xxx

A very quick visit to say thank you all for your lovely Birthday wishes your the best.I had a great day and evening with family and was totally spoilt.

Kitty I hope your dizziness is better. My DH had a trip toA&E on Sunday he was extremely dizzy. It was very scary as he has heart and other problems but they said it could have been side effects of the booster or sinusitis.
That’s very sad news Anne,we are doing tests everyday at the moment.

Well on with the celebrations.Take care dear Kitcheners will be back in a few days.

kittylester Fri 05-Nov-21 06:58:55

Such sad news Ann.So upsetting and as you and others have said Covid is far from over.

Well done to Imogen and Finlay ???

Matilda is the same as your grandchildren brook. She is up when we arrive at their house and then the fun of getting her ready for school starts. She asks for reassurance we won’t be late but still doesn’t rush??‍♀️

Thank you for your good wishes for Henry. He slept on me for nearly three hours.DH had gone into the garden and the remote was on the other side of the room so shark documentary after shark documentary?luckily the volume wasn’t too loud and I had my book next to me.H was slightly better when he woke up hopefully a good nights sleep will see him fully recovered??

cornergran Thu 04-Nov-21 23:12:26

That’s sad news indeed ann. How hard for your son and his friends family. You’re right, covid is far from over. I hope you aren’t too, upset and can sleep well tonight. flowers.

Well done Imogen and Finlay. You must be so pleased Jaxjacky

SueDonim Thu 04-Nov-21 22:53:46

I’ve not had time to pop in here for days, it feels. Happy birthday to those celebrating, happy anniversary to those who’ve stayed the course wink and get well soon to those under the weather. flowers

I’ve been down to visit my mum, who’ll be 94 next week. She was in good cheer but I was quite shocked at how immobile she’s become. We took her out for lunch but she can barely walk from her front door to the car now and was really quite tottery. I was very concerned that she’d fall and I’m not sure it’ll be safe to take her out again.

I managed to fill in her Blue Badge renewal and I’ve got details of her local vaccination centre so I can try to get her booster done. They expected her to travel a 40 mile round trip. hmm

We stopped off at dd1’s and I had a gossip with my GD (she loves to keep me up to date with goings on at nursery!) and a nice shoogle with the bouncing baby. He’s bursting out of his clothes and onto the three month size despite being just four weeks old.

It was a long day as there were two diversions on the roads so I’ve driven well over 200 miles today. Off to put my feet up before bedtime now. Xx

annsixty Thu 04-Nov-21 22:38:40

My S has just been in touch to say one of his friends, they were best man at each other’s weddings, has died today from Covid.
He was 52, it is far from over yet.
All visiting has been stopped for two weeks at our local hospital, the situation is so serious.
