Help! The old kitchen door is locked. I'm wandering hither and thither like a lost soul. Has a new kitchen been opened please? I hate being this side of the door.

Grandmabatty Wed 27-Oct-21 19:35:23

Thank you all you lovely ladies. I appreciate beyond measure your kind comments. I'll come back in time. I just need to sort myself out.

Doodle Wed 27-Oct-21 20:11:38

Grandmabatty I wish you well. Please don’t stay away for long. Hope you and your family keep well. Please come back soon. We certainly need you in the Argy at Christmas, it won’t be the same without you. x
Thanks for the feast Maw it sounds delicious.
brook hope you have a lovely time with your family. Enjoy your trip ?
soop your rock buns sound just what we need. I expect you to be on the lookout for your Christmas outfit. Something in the tartan range perhaps.
Urms cooee. Have you managed to get out of those trousers yet? ?

kittylester Wed 27-Oct-21 20:28:28

grandmabatty, as others have said - please don't stay away too long.

I'm a bit sad today as I had a phone call from my aunt telling me that her son (my cousin) had been found dead alone in his flat. She and her daughter hadn't been able to contact him so, eventually, the police broke the door down. It is the post mortem today.

I love my aunt to pieces and resent the fact that we had little to do with het her and my cousins while we were growing up. Oldies amongst you will remember my mother and her propensity to fall out with all and sundry. I now get on well with my aunt and one cousin in particular but regret all those wasted years.

brook2704 Wed 27-Oct-21 20:37:38

Oh kitty how dreadful, please accept my condolences on the loss of your cousin. How terribly sad - sending ?

‘Evening All’.

We’ve had a lovely afternoon with the smalls of the family. Day off tomorrow as their dada is home. Phew! That said, we’re out for lunch with my stepfather.

At least he won’t want to lets play grandma. You be the cafe lady and I’ll sit down for lunch and order cake

Anyway we dived in here at 6pm. It’s the Loungers Bar below our apartment. I like it especially on winter evenings. It’s cosy and literally next door, 2 floors down. We usually go up to the mezzanine area but this photo, taken tonight is good - I liked all the pumpkins on the bar!

GrandmaBatty I shall really miss you. I hope your ‘reset’ does you good and that all goes well for your daughter next month. Please come back soonest dear lady.

Urmstongran Wed 27-Oct-21 20:41:53

X posts kitty. Very sad news for you. Family really is the glue that binds us. ?

annsixty Wed 27-Oct-21 20:43:56

Sad for your family kitty a shock to you all.
My cold has resurfaced and I feel under the weather again today.
A lot of the doors and windows have been open today as I changed my mind about having all the doors and paintwork done.
I have had all the walls white and the old paint looked just terrible and dirty against them so a much bigger job than I anticipated, they should finish on Friday though apart from replacing light switches and electrical sockets which will have to wait now until the end of next week.
I have spoken to my friend again today with “ the neck”
She is in pain but she is one to make the best of things.
The OT team will come to see her on Monday along with SWs to try to get a package in place for her going home at the end of next week.
She flatly refused to go into a residential home to recuperate.
She has a very loving family all close geographically to her and very good friends so will get lots of help from them.
She is a very good and helpful person to everyone else and now it will be repaid.
Have the best evening you can everyone.

Sad news, kitty flowers

cornergran Wed 27-Oct-21 21:14:32

I’m so sorry kitty, very sad news accompanied by more sadness for what might have been. Look after yourself.

Take care grandmabatty, please come back when you feel you can.

I understand your worry about your friend ann. Her situation mirrors that of a friend who broke her neck falling top to bottom of her stairs about four years ago. Also a long wait for an ambulance. She also insisted in going home rather than to a. nursing home. In her case after nearly three months in hospital. It was a worrying time for us. I do hope your friend will accept the support she needs from others to regain her strength. Your cold sounds horribly tenacious hope it is gone very soon.

I’m hoping for sleep tonight, it was scarce last night and I’m beyond tired today.. Our goddaughter is in need of support and will phone in the morning, I’ll be able to offer more to her if I’m less exhausted. .

Sleep well everyone. TOYA.

brook2704 Wed 27-Oct-21 21:32:26

Hope you get a good nights sleep cornergran

Nannytopsy Wed 27-Oct-21 22:29:54

That is sad news kitty and difficult for his family to understand. ann I hope your friend gets the help she needs.
We had our boosters this afternoon so ? for no side effects. I am the duty person for the WI village coffee morning tomorrow. Sausage rolls, Victoria sandwich and lemon drizzle are all ready to go.
DS has asked us to have his big dogs tomorrow (a pair of pointers) and then to join them for tea. It means keeping the dogs away from the cat and stopping them digging in the garden! Step forward DH - I shall be out!
Sleep tight everyone. ?

Kalu Wed 27-Oct-21 22:55:18

So sorry to read your sad news kitty. What a dreadful shock for you. I wish you strength for the days ahead.

SueDonim Thu 28-Oct-21 01:17:37

Oh, Grandmabatty! Don’t stay away too long. I hope you soon have a beautiful baby in the family to hug and that your dd keeps well.flowers

Kitty what an awful shock and so sad when you’ve just managed to reconnect with your aunt. sad
I’m not long back from the concert hall in Perth. We had a fabulous time, it was amazing to see something live again. If only the man next to me and the two in front had kept their masks on. hmm

I managed to send a parcel back to Amazon from a Perth post office so that another job done. Then we had dinner out before the show. I chose a pulled pork burger. I didn’t realise it would also contain a beef burger! shock I somehow managed to eat it all as well as a side salad as a nod to a healthy diet. That effort was completely ruined by dessert- a pavlova with bananas, ice cream and caramel toffee sauce. I had to waddle out of the restaurant, I can tell you. I deserve to be on bread and water rations for the next week. blush

Sleep tight! X

Sorry, my paragraphs went wonky there.

TillyTrotter Thu 28-Oct-21 09:50:13

Deepest sympathy to you kitty ?

kittylester Thu 28-Oct-21 10:24:12

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I'm going to stop feeling sorry for myself and cross with mum and concentrate on 'being there' for my aunt.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 28-Oct-21 10:28:45

My condolences to you kitty. A horrible shock. Be gentle on yourself.

soop Thu 28-Oct-21 14:57:55

My sincere condolences, Kitty. You are right, it is your aunt who needs your comforting support at this very sad time. flowers

soop Thu 28-Oct-21 17:17:45

We had a late morning invitation to catch up with our good pals in the village. Time spent with them helped to recharge our batteries. Isn't it surprising the difference pleasant company can make to an ordinary day. smile

I have caught up with the ironing. The late afternoon sunshine streams through the window. Feeling ready to relax and sending all good wishes to you lovely lot.

I shall do my best to play catch-up with you tomorrow.smile moon

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. I’ve been for my Covid booster, my arm feels stiff and heavy, which it always does but it’s more so just now. If that’s the only side effect I’m happy. Poor Mr. B has toothache, he is seeing the dentist tomorrow morning but is in pain just now. He has pain killers and I think it will be soup and soft bread for dinner tonight. The weather is wild and stormy here so I think we will be snuggling down.

Urmstongran Thu 28-Oct-21 17:59:02

‘Evening All’.

Just home from a lovely lunch with my stepfather. We’d all had some unsettling news about an extended family member and spent time discussing this and raising a glass to that part of our family who are going through a tough time.

He chose a pub we all like in Worsley (knew he would!). As we drove alongside the Bridgewater Canal we counted the barges moored in a line (over 30) and looked out for our favourite green painted one called ‘The Onion Bargee’. Very clever name, which we love to see, but it wasn’t there.

It’s just started raining but we are nice and cosy. PJ’s on (aka ‘Loungewear’ these days!) and we’re Locked up and settling down. Kettle’s on and some chocolate for me later. I really must be stricter with myself from Monday as half term will be over. I will never lose any weight at this rate. I’m rubbish.

Grandmajean Thu 28-Oct-21 20:33:23

Soop thank you so much for the lovely portrait of "The Boys"
You are a very talented lady.
I can't draw at all.
Will try to post a pic.

Jaxjacky Thu 28-Oct-21 21:13:25

Sad news kitty indeed ?
What unique cats Grandmajean are they a specific breed?
