Good morning (only just) from drizzly South Lanarkshire.

I was awake from 4am as that’s when DH’s alarm went off. He got the first flight to London this morning as there’s an exhibition which ends soon at the British Museum and he’s been desperate to see it. He’s had also booked a slot at the National Gallery to see another exhibition. Anyhoo his early start meant a couple of sleepless hours for me, I was just thinking about getting up when I must have drifted off again into a very odd dream which left me rather discombobulated for a while.

I'm just popping in to say that I'm thinking of you, Harrigran, on this most difficult of days. You have cared lovingly for your DH for a very long time, now you can focus on being his dear wife again. What a kind and thoughtful husband he is, agreeing promptly to this move, knowing that it is for the best for both of you.
Sending love and prayers to you and your family, and to all who need/wish them. ???

A dreich but mild day in North Lanarkshire, Granddog has returned to his family and I'm missing our walks, my lockdown weight gain is hard to shift. Wish I had Urm's willpower!

Covid cases are still high here, although they are dropping generally in Scotland now, I suppose that's because our schools went back in mid August. The army is now assisting in our local hospital which is under pressure.

I missed your post yesterday, Harrigran and am so sorry that your DH has to go into a nursing home, though realise that does mean that he will get the additional care you have been fighting so long for and that you, too, will have the opportunity to rest a little and regain your strength. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling, but I expect your emotions are mixed and all over the place. I hope you can draw some comfort from knowing your virtual friends here on the GM thread have you in their thoughts and hearts. ?

Good morning from a very wet N Wales. I fell downstairs yesterday and now have sore ribs, arm, wrist and a gash on my knee.
My own fault for rushing to take in a delivery.
Have had to cancel my trip to the Peaks so will miss seeing 2 year old grandson.
Hope all who have much worse problems than my fall have a peaceful day.

And it’s a very late good morning from me today this is a busy house this morning we’ve got the plumber in working away. The weather outside appears to be drying up perhaps I’ll go for a run in the car today it always cheers me up. Tonight’s dinner is the remains of yesterday’s spaghetti Bolognese. The Bolognaise is always so much more tastier a day later just like most cooked stews and mince.

You have given MrHarrigran all your love and care and now he has chosen to do the same for you.

Marydoll it sound like you should be writing nouvellas about your trips to the East Coast!! Sorry you are having such a lousy time of it - I know how I feel when DH tries DIY! I used to do all DIY, but now DH, totally inexperienced, thinks he can do it with the right 'mate' - me!!
I'm sorry you are having such a rotten time of it also, Harrigran and hope you will be able to have some much needed rest while your DH is being looked after.
After being told I can book my covid booster if I can prove it's 6 months since the 2nd jab - don't believe a word of it!! I've been told by 119 I have to wait 6 month and 1 week, which would be tomorrow, or 6 months. 1 week and 2 days!! I get the feeling they are dangling a carrot in front of me! Meanwhile I keep getting letter to remind me how vulnerable I am. I've let off steam now, thanks.

harrigran it will be sad to see OH off to the nursing home , but they will take some of the burden from you , not that it will stop you worrying, but I hope you can get some rest and take care of yourself xxx

Don’t usually post here, but just to say thinking of you today harrigran. It will be for the best - the home will care for your DH, and you can go back to supporting him as his loving wife. My sister in law experienced the same situation a few years ago, and she soon realised it was very much for the best.

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark rainy Carlisle.
I've already done my quota of housework but I don't think I'll be twiddling my thumbs for the rest of the day. I have to go out this afternoon for more blood sampling, this time to check my iron levels before my venesection later this month. As for the telephone conversation with the Doc yesterday re my headaches, I am to have my head examined. I'm sure DH is chuckling somewhere and saying not before time! Nothing will be found I'm expect.
I hope all goes well today harrigran and that your DH will be comfortable in his new abode and that you get some well deserved rest.

Good morning all, grey, wet and windy here in W Kent. Off to visit friend I haven't seen for sometime. Thinking of you harrigran hoping all goes as smoothly as possible.

DH already responding to antibiotic and more cogent this morning. Fingers crossed that he is on the mend though he still can’t manage a mug or get a spoon to his mouth, and his swallowing mechanism seems poor.

Boiler service this morning and hopefully an explanation of why the radiators are only luke warm. Will matter by the end of the week if the forecast is right. Always something to worry about.

Thinking of harrigran and her very difficult day though I suspect it will look a little better once she has caught up on some sleep, though it will take a while to deal with the long term exhaustion she is dealing with.

Music club this afternoon, so will have a little run through my pieces this morning.
Nice lunch out yesterday with old friend. I had an excellent fish pie, with large prawns being part of it and persuaded to have a pudding, dark chocolate tart and raspberry sorbet. I’m not a pudding person but it was delicious and just had a lump of cheese in the evening. My garrulous friend had to be practically pushed out of my car still talking four hours later. He is a darling though.
I’m reaching the end of my current Edith Wharton book and can’t wait to read what happens next! She’s certainly dragged it out…

Good morning from a very rainy and dull Black Country.

No real plans today except to finish my book, Home Stretch by Graham Norton, which is very good.

I may join a new walking group this afternoon, which was started last week. An hours walk and a coffee/tea afterwards.

Talking to Mum yesterday about my Neices birthday this Thursday, as she will be 30. She is still in Australia, so celebrations hopefully next year when she is back. Mum said, there is no hurry, it is not until October. I said, what month do you think we are in then!

Thinking of you harrigran what a dreadful 24 hours you have had. I hope your DH's move to a care home goes well, and you can rest, and re-charge your batteries, knowing he is in safe hands.

Good morning everyone from a windy and damp Northampton. More rain forecast later, so not sure whether I shall bother with today's health walk.

A visit yesterday from an engineer to check over my house alarm system which has been on the blink since July. Looks as though I need a new system, so he is going to give me a quote. Also my 'handyman' got in touch to say he could come and paint the summerhouse on Saturday.

A quiet day ahead then, so a chance to get on with a new book.

Good morning everyone from a wet and windy south Manchester. The grey is just a wash of pale grey. We are off late morning to pick up my stepfather and go to M&S Simply Food for supplies and then coffee & scones in their little cafe. Sadly, no cake for me as I’m trying to shift this big fat tum.

The MR scan went well yesterday tea time. I was supplied with headphones playing loud music to help distract from the rumbling and vibrating of the (new!) scanner. I felt a bit panicky at one stage but closed my eyes again and managed to ‘feel the fear but do it anyway’.

I plan to lock myself in the conservatory with a handsome Korean medical professor thanks Marydoll for my first chuckle of the day! harri we are all virtually wrapping our arms around you today to show how much we care. I’ve been missing your posts Maw and hope you are alright. How’s the narrow plush dog?

Harrigran you are going through a living nightmare. Once your DH is safely in a Home you will need to give yourself some tlc maybe with the help of your doctor with some short term sleeping tablets if that is appropriate and of course you are lucky to have a supportive family. Best of luck ?
