Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry outside at the moment , a busy day today for me .
I have a visit from a retailer for taking measurements for blinds in my kitchen later this morning .
Otherwise a day indoors apart from maybe a small shop.
Take Care,
Mick

harrigran Wed 27-Oct-21 06:30:21

Good morning from a dry and mild NE.
I had an appointment for the flu vaccination yesterday but when I arrived they had no record of my internet booking and said they had no vaccine anyway, wasted journey.
I am still very fragile but my family are here and DD has managed to work online from my home.
Thank you for all the caring messages.

grandMattie Wed 27-Oct-21 06:32:49

Good morning from a clear, dark E Kent.
I was wiped out yesterday. Perhaps I did too much…. I went to tai chi, then had lunch. After this, we went to the supermarket then we walked across the road to the shopping centre. DH wanted a particular magazine, which he didn’t find. I took the opportunity to buy myself some new trousers to go with the two lovely Kurtis I got recently. Came home, put shopping away. I then launched myself into making two Bakewell tarts, a quiche for tonight and some flapjacks as well as dinner.
Quite a busy day today. I’m going to myWI federation needle craft group - they are a lovely bunch of ladies.
Carpe diem. Have a gentle day everyone. ?????

Ashcombe Wed 27-Oct-21 06:41:54

Good morning, Mick and those who will soon follow from a dry but windy Torbay.

harrigran: ? it's good to see you here again but I'm sorry you’ve had a wasted trip for your flu vaccination. A frustration you don’t need but good to have DD there at this time.

A very busy day, grandMattie! I’m tired from reading about it! It’s good to feel energetic but don’t overdo it, dear lady.

Thank you, everyone, for the supportive, helpful comments yesterday. I think I’m feeling more normal (!) today. My BP is higher and I’m expecting it to creep up to the unacceptably high levels of before. Back to square one!

I hope those with worries or pain find some relief and wishing you all a happy hump day! ?????

NanKate Wed 27-Oct-21 06:57:44

Good morning Mick and All.

I think we are in for a mild day here in South Bucks.

Sorry to hear of your problems with your BP Ashcombe. That reminds me I must take my BP today.

Good to see you back here harrigran you are bound to be fragile but it sounds as if you have a very supportive family.

Heard from DS and his lovely partner that their trip to Iceland has been a success as they saw the Northern Lights, their main reason for their visit. Much too cold for me there. ?❄️

kittylester Wed 27-Oct-21 07:07:35

Good morning all from a dark North Leicestershire where it is warm but sounds windy.

Helping at a Carer Learning Session today and then finishing my online shop.

DD2 was pinged yesterday so no chance of seeing them over half term.

Lovely to see you harrigran. Take care.

I had a bp test yesterday Ashcombe and it was sky high inmy right arm and acceptable in my left. confused

Ashcombe Wed 27-Oct-21 07:14:29

Thanks, NanKate and kittylester. Diuretics to lower my BP led to dangerously low levels of sodium, according to a blood test earlier this week, making me dizzy and even more confused than normal! Both tablets are not to be taken for now.

grandMattie Wed 27-Oct-21 07:21:06

Glad to learn you’re feeling better,*Ash*.
Nankate, your son was very lucky. We went to the Yukon one year and to Iceland another and didn’t see the Aurora. I’m hoping to take DD on one of those flights. Third time lucky?

Beechnut Wed 27-Oct-21 07:26:01

Good Morning from Severnside. It’s too dark to see the weather, probably damp.

Lovely to see you posting this morning harrigran. It’s still very early days so to be fragile is expected.

Duster will be out this morning along with the cleaner in the dining room and then I’m off to the dentist. What I do later will depend on what happens with the dentist. I find sitting there with mouth stretched open for a while can make me weary ?.

My bp was up last week. Must be something in the air. I will have it taken again tomorrow.

Take care all ?

cornergran Wed 27-Oct-21 07:26:13

Morning Mick, morning All. Dark and dry in our corner of Somerset.

Thoroughly enjoyable day yesterday, busy and active, so why didn’t I sleep? Grocery delivery and dust removal today.

Didn’t get to post yesterday so missed you have BP problems Ash. Hope it settles soon. You’ve reminded me to nag Mr C who should keep a note of his BP and hasn’t for what feels like forever. I’m pleased you have support harri, I’m sorry about the vaccination problem. Hope you can rebook soon.

Another family disappointment kitty, what a pain. The Northern Lights are magical nanKate, we saw them in Norway, sounds odd I know but those low temperature truly don’t feel that cold. I’m worn out reading about your day grandMattie, wish I had the stamina.

Take care everyone. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Jaxjacky Wed 27-Oct-21 07:44:21

Good morning all from a dry, cloudy Hastings, just about to be served tea in bed, luxury. Off home today.
Pleased you’re being supported harrigran, annoying about the flu jab.
Enjoy Wednesday all ??.

Pittcity Wed 27-Oct-21 07:49:50

Good morning from a breezy Colchester where it's just starting to get light. Another mild, dry day forecast.
We'll probably be sitting outside for our Wednesday meetup.
I have to clear the filters of my Washer dryer today as it has developed a fault and the manufacturer's won't send anyone out under the guarantee unless I've done this....
Love to all x

brook2704 Wed 27-Oct-21 07:56:45

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light with some grey clouds looming
Good to see you harrigran hope you get your flu vaccine sorted soon and take care
You can sometimes see the northern lights from up here in the north of Scotland NanKate I’ve an app on my phone which alerts me when it’s likely and many a time we’ve put on our coats and hats and left the comfort of our warm house to stand outside in the cold garden. Apart from some light green streaks in the sky we’ve not been lucky yet but still trying with double fingers and toes crossed!
Wow that sounds like a very busy day yesterday grandMattie with lots done, well done but take it easy today
Today I’m off to the gym, meeting a friend for coffee and then packing my bag for a trip to see DD1 in Cambridge tomorrow for the last few days of half term there - can’t wait!
Hope all the elevated BP readings settle down
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Grandmadinosaur Wed 27-Oct-21 07:57:14

Good morning all from our hotel in Pickering . It’s dry one here.

Had a lovely day yesterday ending with our trip in the steam train. I’ll attach some photos.
Today we are going to Whitby and then back home. I’m not sure about the season but I love crab when we’ve been there before. Can’t beat it!
Lovely to have you back * harrigran*

Take care all

Marydoll Wed 27-Oct-21 07:58:48

Good morning Mick and all.

So good to see you posting, Harri, but not so good about the non vaccination.

After a particularly bad night, I have woken up with no voice, a slight temp and feeling pretty rubbish. Mr MDoll will be delighted about the lack of voice and an unexpectedly quiet day.?

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster, cooking wise. Despite plenty of pectin, jam sugar and two cycles of the jam maker, the jam is still runny. It tastes delicious, but won't set. To add to my frustration, the apple and cinnamon puddings, made with apples from my patio fruit tree were also a failure! I opened the oven for a peek, to see sponge mixture everywhere, I think I had too much filling! What a mess!!!
Does anyone feel they are losing their skills? Despite having successfully been making jam for over forty The last two batches have been a disaster. ☹
Retreating to the conservatory, for some consolation from my professor, I found the internet was down. ? Even he has let me down.?

It's not easy managing high BP, mine is always on the high side and has caused all sorts of problems. However, I'm asymptomatic, so unaware of it. I just stopped taking it on a daily basis, it was just stressing me and not helpful at all.
My optician blames permanent high BP for my recently formed cataracts, my consultant blames it for the damage inside my heart, so fingers crossed your GPs manage to get it down to a reasonable level.

I kept thinking of AG's selfless daughter yesterday and hope having her mum with her will aid her road to recovery.
GS, hoping the back pain has eased a bit and the new bed is making life a bit easier.

Many on here, are struggling, but say nothing. For those posters, I hope today is bearable and you find some respite. ?

Have as pleasant a day as possible.
I'm now off to read the posts. The internet was down earlier, but MrMDoll, is reluctant to contact VirginMedia, yet again!

Grandmadinosaur Wed 27-Oct-21 07:59:21

Didn’t work the first time! ?

grandMattie Wed 27-Oct-21 08:01:28

Gd, crabs from Whitby remind me of a very famous Canadian seafood shop called “Lucy’s” I think at Port Edward, BC, where they sell T-shirts and tote bags saying “I got crabs from Lucy”. ?

Urmstongran Wed 27-Oct-21 08:06:25

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and mild. I can’t believe it’s almost November and as yet we’ve not had our heating on and are still sleeping under the summer duvet. We bought a new winter one in preparation and it’s still in its roll pack in a bedroom corner, waiting ...

Oh, the 8am train into Liverpool Line Street has just squealed into Platform 2. How are you doing amselerin I think of you if I see an early morning train!

Pace yourself grandMattie. I hope you’re not doing some displacement thing by keeping so very busy. You will wear yourself out if you keep up this frantic level of activity. My thoughts are with you and very kindly meant.

Welcome back harrigran. It’s early days. Oh, that’s the train on its way.

The Boy Wonder is booked in for the climbing wall at the leisure centre with a school friend - he’s so excited to do it together. Pizza for the boys afterwards at his house and an hour to play before the friend will be picked up by his mum. It’s the first time he’ll have been (to both places!). Now he’s 9y mum is starting to encourage friends over. A good thing in my opinion. I shall go along as L’il Miss is booked in too and is looking forward to it but her en edgy levels after her heavy cold may let her down so i’m On Standby.

Hope you get your blood levels and meds sorted soon Ashcombe it’s a fine balance. At least in the meantime you’re feeling better whilst you wait further input.

Enjoy Wednesday all who can. x

Grandmadinosaur Wed 27-Oct-21 08:10:32

I can imagine those T-shirts being very popular * grandmattie* ?

Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton; in a rush this morning as I have a hair appointment at 9am, and still to shower and dress, but I must have my mug of tea first! Good job the salon is only five minutes walk!

Then it's home for a quick lunch and book club this afternoon. Luckily I have a lift for that this month, so no rushing around.

Had my new burglar alarm system fitted yesterday. It's supposed to be cat-safe, ie. can be set while the cats are in without them setting it off, but I am a bit nervous about trying it out. Also had to have a new code for it, so hope I can remember it! Now need to find someone to repair the hole in the wall left after removal of the old control panel.

Must rush - quick shower and out. How lovely to see harrigran posting again - take care of yourself, please, and take things slowly.

Grandmajean Wed 27-Oct-21 08:17:51

Good morning from Cheshire.
Bit windy out there this morning.
Two GC later so their parents can go to an early evening showing of the new Bond film. I think I've got the better deal ! Never liked the 007 films !
Pleased to see harrigran and GrandMattie getting on with life in difficult days. Brave ladies.
Thinking of all who are struggling.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 27-Oct-21 08:41:12

Good morning all from dry
Harrogate
I’d love to go the Iceland to see the Aurora , yet when we lived in Aberdeen, I peeped through the curtains one evening and there they where - an amazing sight “The northern lights of old Aberdeen”. I was alone at the time so couldn’t discuss it with anyone. DH was working and didn’t see it, DDs were out at the cinema!!
Yesterday finally had my booster so that’s me jabbed for the time being
Hairdresser this afternoon - so nice to get out
Nice to see you Harrigran you will be fragile for a while to come
Have as good a day as you can folks!

multicolourswapshop Wed 27-Oct-21 08:44:54

Good morning everyone it looks really dark and dreary once more behind those curtains. Guess I’ll be having a cosy bed day today I’ve still got that horrible head cold that’s going around and like Marydoll I’ve lost my voice. I keep thinking today’s going to be on the mend day but mr Vick vapo rub keeps coming out. . Must keep rehydrated so I’m drinking lots of water no irn bru for me. And no zoom either can’t be helped.

Have a good day everyone keep warm, cosy and safe.

AGAA4 Wed 27-Oct-21 08:47:44

Good morning from a blustery North Wales. At least it's dry for now.
Marydoll I hope you feel better soon.
Harrigran take care of yourself. Grief can be exhausting.
I hope all who are not well have a gentle day.
