Aware that DM in Scotland will need interlinked smoke alarms and a kitchen heat alarm very soon.

Any recommendations from Gransnet members who have already installed these ahead of February 2022 legislation?

I've actually got an electrician coming this afternoon to give me a quote for doing this.

Im down south in a council flat and we had new interlinked smoke alarms installed earlier this year. They werent all in sync and the one in the bedroom was flashing blue all night long so they had to come back to reset it. The green light at night is so bright and every few seconds it will flash red. Theres one in every room and one in the hallway, at night when the lights are off it looks like the lights on a runway. The one in the bedroom Ive had to tape over the light as its so distracting when Im trying to sleep!

Now that the legislation allows a battery connected set up it means that DIY installation is possible or an electrician can set it up in no time.
Anyone who is renting will have it done by the landlord. Owner occupiers will have to foot the bill.
