Warm sunny and perfect today. Just come out of Melbourne’s lockdown so it is such a pleasure to see the sparkling sea and the bright sunlight and happy faces.

Very grey and dismal here on The Wirral looking over to Liverpool its hard to make out the outline of the Liver Buildings its just so miserable today.
I think I shall be doing some indoor jobs today and not venturing out at all.

I had to go in the garage to read my meters and the wind suddenly howled around the side path and blew my new garage door partly off its hinges! I had new doors fitted a couple of months ago, getting rid of the very old up and over door and replacing it with two traditional outward opening doors - much easier for me to open with my arthritic shoulders. The door was securely fastened but still ended up skew whiff and off a hinge. I’ve managed to almost close it and have used cable ties to secure it but need to call out the company tomorrow. It’s still under warranty so I’m hoping to be covered but I bet I’m not for storm damage.

Did manage a short walk this morning, cold but ok. Right now the rain is thundering down onto our roof, it's so loud I had to put subtitles on the TV to be able to follow Angela Black. Still very heavy rain and wind. Glad to be inside with a good book.

Rain, rain, rain.

Its been very wet here.
We heard on the car rado, returning from a (welly) walk, that three people had drowned whilst paddle boarding on a swollen river. Poor things, but what on earth were they doing on a swollen river!

Yes, I thought that. I think it was an organised trip too with a so called "experienced" instructor.

The fence came down and next food's rabbits were feasting on my new Acer tree.

We had wild wind and rain first thing this morning.

Great. I was just admiring the beautiful rainbow when I spotted the fence and the rabbits. Luckily the neighbours were quick to lock them back up again.???

Cornwall - Gusty but the sun's been out. That was until two hours ago (5:00pm). Then rain started again. Meant to be laying a new path tomorrow. Can't see that happening ?

Had a drive north in horrendous conditions this morning. Happily my return trip was quieter with a degree of intermittent sunset between the clouds. Very welcome. My only excitement homeward was the passing of two escorted wide loads on the motorway. Steady hands and nerves achieved!

Strong winds and lashing rain all morning and then, by midday, bright sunshine appeared. I quickly set to, putting up the Halloween decorations, ready for the Trick or Treat callers. By tea time the rain and high winds had demolished everything! But it didn't deter the children calling; all of whom had clearly spent ages on getting their costumes and make up just right. They, and their parents, were drenched to the skin, poor things.

Awful this morning. Needed the lights on as it was so wet, windy and gloomy. However, it has improved no end for the Halloween trick or treaters.

Maya1 Sun 31-Oct-21 17:23:58

Sunshine, wind and showers here in East Anglia. Its not helping with my DH opening the front door for trick or treaters.

Grannybags Sun 31-Oct-21 17:15:03

Rain, sun, rain, sun, rain sun every half hour or so along with very strong wind

M0nica Sun 31-Oct-21 17:14:39

Sunshine and showers and windy and at about 11.30 a long gust came through and blew for about 10 minutes and I really expected a tree to come down. Then it went back to just being windy.

Kate1949 Sun 31-Oct-21 17:09:37

Torrential rain and gale force winds in our bit of Birmingham this morning. Drier and brighter pm but still terrific winds. I managed a short walk.

Kali2 Sun 31-Oct-21 17:04:42

Absolutely glorious.

Casdon Sun 31-Oct-21 17:02:14

I woke at quarter to 5 this morning with the rain lashing against the window. It’s still absolutely vile, very windy, it blew my black bin across the road.

Witzend Sun 31-Oct-21 17:00:06

It was blowing a gale and bucketing down this morning (SW London) bright and sunny later, raining again an hour ago.

shysal Sun 31-Oct-21 16:26:53

Same here in Oxfordshire. I was driving back from my usual Sunday walk with a friend when the wind got up and a large willow tree came down in the road in front of me. I was very shaken and my feet trembled on the pedals as I drove home by another route, being showered with branches and twigs all the way. I was very glad to get home unscathed. Fortunately the wind calmed down later. Just in case it returns I will leave putting out my wheelie bins until early tomorrow morning!

ginny Sun 31-Oct-21 16:17:14

Blooming’ awful !
It has stopped raining now but still very windy. Quite a few small trees down over foot paths and local parks closed.

Pittcity Sun 31-Oct-21 16:14:46

It was tipping it down and blowing a hooley this morning. The afternoon has been bright and dry, but feeling chillier than of late. It's just after 4 and it's getting dark......

Calmlocket Sun 31-Oct-21 16:10:02

It was awful this morning, son and family were just pulling up to visit me and they heard a loud crack, the tree to the entrance of the car park had snapped! thankfully it fell in the opposite direction to them! Its a bit better this afternoon no rain but still the strong winds.

multicolourswapshop Sun 31-Oct-21 14:55:42

It’s been tipping with rain here all day with a wind and a half. The house is starting to feel chilly must put the heating further up unfortunately our electric and gas bills have shot up since the change over. I’m consciously for the first time ever watching the electric usage and the gas central heating. I’ll just have to wear warmer clothes. Not to worry I’m not destitute just yet.

I feel so sorry for those who have been flooded these past few days can’t imagine what it’s like to dry everything off in the winter.

Keep safe everyone stay away from the floods in certain parts of the country.flowers
