What absolutely fantastic news that the little 4 year old who went missing on a camping trip with her parents in Australia has been found safe and well.
The full facts are slowly coming out but it seems she was grabbed by a loner type person. I don’t know if they were male or female but I hope she was not molested.
It is so wonderful to have some positive news isn’t it?

Wonderful news and a relief for the whole family.

What a wonderful result though!

The man has been charged. No connection to Cleo’s family.

For those suggesting parental involvement, I read The police team tapped the parents’ phones. That and other investigations indicated the parents were not involved but were devastated.
Spice101 how can anyone conclude ‘there has been no abuse’. This traumatised child will be interviewed appropriately when it’s believed she is ready for that.

It is not me that is concluding there was no abuse. Perhaps I should have said there was no evidence of sexual abuse however, the reports are that there was no evidence of abuse and I can only assume there was an examination carried out before that was released by police. Cleo has been examined in hospital and she has today been speaking with police..

Of course one could argue that the whole thing of being taken was abuse.

There has been a report tonight that the man in custody had an obsession with dolls and one theory is that is being explored is that he wanted a live doll. However it is just that - a theory.

I was pleased to see her smiling when shown in hospital yesterday, not looking traumatised, but of course that was only a brief clip and perhaps she was briefly excited to be on tv. Let’s hope for the best for her.

Yes it’s wonderful news but I do wish people/the media would stop going on about “loners”. A lot of people are on their own/without friends through no fault of their own or would simply rather live that way.

Yes, such happy news. How and where was she taken- I am on holiday up in the high mountains and not been following the news closely.

Not a problem with following the political news, though, and posting a link to yesterday’s Guardian.

I can't imagine the parents are anyway complicit, unlike the Shannon Matthews case.

BlueBelle Thu 04-Nov-21 07:33:23

Yes indeed kadinsky I remember it well

Lucca Thu 04-Nov-21 07:25:06

Kandinsky

Does anyone remember the Shannon Matthews case?

My son in Sydney mentioned that in fact…….

Don’t know any details so shouldn’t comment, but when it was on the News, I said to DH that I would have wanted my child to be sleeping the far end of the tent, and DH and me to be at the opening end, for extra security.

Spice101 Thu 04-Nov-21 05:25:57

Apparently there has been no abuse and there is a man in custody but at this time no charges have been laid. She was found only a few minutes from her home and was by herself in a locked house.

Kali2 she was taken almost 3 weeks ago while on a camping trip with her family in a remote Western Australia area. She was take from the family tent sometime between 1.30 am and 6 am. There was a massive search over many days but police found her in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Thank goodness Cleo has been found, what a dreadful time for her and her family.
I wish them well in the days ahead.

Lovely to waken to good news.

Shelflife Wed 03-Nov-21 08:18:55

Thank goodness she is found . Can't imagine the anguish her parents have been through.

Hetty58 Wed 03-Nov-21 08:15:46

BlueBelle, not every loner out there is a child abuser - so I think there's more than a 'very, very slim' chance that she was kidnapped for other reasons - and really hope so. It was just wonderful to see her on screen this morning.

Shandy57 Wed 03-Nov-21 08:04:36

So very glad to read this. I read a dreadful book called 'The Lovely Bones' years ago, it is every parents worst nightmare.
