So before setting off on today’s hike, I have applied a full face of make up.
Husband waiting impatiently as we should have left ages ago.
My excuse, well you never know who you might meet.

Am I the only one?

Yes I think you do wear make up for yourself it is like a mask for some. I hate anyone I know with make up, see me without. The surprise on their faces does nothing for my self confidence.

Thank you Marydoll
It should have been a day case but there’s a complication or two and I’m still here .

I know what you mean about the braswink

I've always loved make up but always try and aim for a natural look. Last year I wasnt working due to the pandemic and didnt wear any at all. I have returned to work FT now and wear it every day. I keep it simple a good tinted bb cream. Blusher. I long lasting lipstick, a little eyeliner beneath my eyes and a tubular mascara which is the only one I have found that never gives me panda eyes! I did find it odd wearing make up after so long and found my skin had changed slightly in tone and texture. Although not particularly dry I find powder based products less flattering.
For me it's about looking smart and professional but natural. I dont wear make up on day off and quite happy to leave the house without any

I put moisturiser on, and wear lipstick. I really cannot be bothered to do more.
You look good Sago

Elizabeth27 I always wear makeup ...for me.I have self esteem issues that go back to childhood and wearing makeup makes me feel presentable. My husband tells me I'm beautiful, usually when the sun hits my face in bed of a morning and thats lovely BUT I've never believed I was anything near beautiful .My confidence was destroyed by my mother and sister and it sticks with you,So yes I wear makeup for me and feel better for it

I spent ages applying make up for my passport photo. The thought of looking 10 years older than the previous one was really depressing me but I was pleased with the result. Good old touché eclat!

Eye pencil, lipstick always otherwise I look anaemic, eyebrows microbladed which was the best decision ever.
Always earrings and usually a decorative scarf, necklaces only when I'm not working as I've had too many pulled by small children.
It is definitely for my benefit, though it doesn't hurt to look smart and professional and I would feel very dowdy without it.
I had a hospital appointment last week and the lady consultant paid me a lovely compliment, very gratifying as no-one else ever does ?

Boz you are what my sister calls a "dry fringe swimmer," as am I. Plus I have to swim in my glasses or I can't see!

My sister sees red squirrels when they go to the Scilly Isles, so cute. I've never seen one.
Enjoy your walks Sago.

dragonfly46 Wed 03-Nov-21 20:27:10

Gosh you must be exceptional Sago as you had a child at 67! ?

Kate1949 Wed 03-Nov-21 20:14:26

How lovely Sago. Lucky you. We've been to The Lakes many times but not for a while now. We must rectify that.

Blondiescot Wed 03-Nov-21 20:10:59

Never wear it. Yes, I look awful without it - but then, I look awful with it too, so what's the point? As the saying goes, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig...

Sago Wed 03-Nov-21 19:29:10

Kate1949 We have stayed in a Grasmere holiday let called Orchard something , we had deer sunbathing in the garden and an abundance of red squirrels, the master bedroom had a fab balcony to watch the wildlife.

We are currently on the Langdale Estate, the walk today was so beautiful across the fell and down into Grasmere, I just love this time of year in the Lakes.

I never go out anywhere without my face on. Foundation, eyebrows pencilled on, mascara, lipstick, blusher

grannyrebel7 Wed 03-Nov-21 19:01:52

I love eye make up. Don't wear foundation these days, but lipstick if I'm going out.

Mollygo Wed 03-Nov-21 18:48:34

Always make up. It makes me feel good. It’s also good when clients and colleagues offer compliments when I’m wearing it.

eazybee Wed 03-Nov-21 18:47:25

Wouldn't leave the house without full make-up, although more discreet than it used to be. Always applied for walks/hikes.

Lucca, I’m glad you added those emojis! Naive that I am I was thinking “what?.??” Magari !

Magari indeed !

Hetty58 Wed 03-Nov-21 18:44:00

A pair of sunglasses and a mask - and I'm off out in 30 seconds. I just don't have the time or patience for make up!

Kate1949 Wed 03-Nov-21 18:43:45

Yes they are Bella. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw them. We get lots of greys here too. Rather cute though.

Enid101 Wed 03-Nov-21 18:41:12

94? I think one of those figures is upside down ?

Bellanonna Wed 03-Nov-21 18:36:30

Kate they’re lovely aren’t they?! I’ve seen them in the LakeDistrict too. Also in Northern Italy. Wish we had more here. Blessed grey variety come to the garden every day and help themselves to the birds’ food!

Grasmere is my favourite place in The Lakes. We stayed in a cottage there once and had red squirrels ?️ and even deer in the garden. Wonderful.
