Hoping no-one else has done this.

We need to get things organised for soop's return.

I have hit the wall this evening, as we do from time to time. Glad you had a lovely day Urms and looking forward to hearing how EV is doing. Hope you’re feeling better soon Dogsmakemesmile, lots of rest and keep hydrated. Nannytopsy the last of my Burmese cats had one of these episodes when he was 20 years old. It turned out his kidneys were failing and the fit was caused by a buildup of toxins, but with a switch in diet and 3-monthly steroid injections he enjoyed another 2 years of happy contented life.
Goodnight lovely Kitcheners, TOYA

Nannytopsy Tue 30-Nov-21 22:18:17

I’m sitting outside the emergency vet. Our 18 yo cat went off his legs, panting, eyes dilated, confused, howling, incontinent. DH said his goodbyes. When I got here he was back to normal. Basically, there is no sign he was ill! At least he will be there in for the morning when the DGC wake up.

A late visit just to say hello dear kitcheners and how my thoughts are with you poor souls still without power ??

Jaxjacky Tue 30-Nov-21 21:09:15

Get better soon Dogsmakemesmile it’s rubbish and a lot of it about, stay warm and hydrated?.
Good news Urms on your venturing out, how lovely, and chat with EV, she’s missed.

Dogsmakemesmile Tue 30-Nov-21 20:34:25

Fingers crossed for you*Sue*.
In bed with heavy cold/cough. Negative PCR. Counting my blessings.
Goodnight everyone.

‘Evening All’

Hello kitcheners. One happy bunny here. Went out for a walk late afternoon then took the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss for sandwiches and cake in the square after school. I sat in the back of the car with L’il Miss. i’d Not seen them for 16 days. L’il Miss sneaked her hand across the car seat to hold mine (small hands still have what I call ‘shortbread fingers’ with dimples instead of knuckles) and my heart melted when she said ‘I’ve missed you so much grandma are you better now?’.
?

Just to say . ... I rang EV today. First time we have ever chatted. I will report tomorrow on Mick’s GM thread for all who are interested.

I have nothing to add, that hasn't been said, Sue. I hope you get home soon!

brook2704 Tue 30-Nov-21 19:25:14

Fingers toes and everything else crossed for you Sue that power is back on Wednesday evening and you can return home ❤️❤️

SueDonim Tue 30-Nov-21 19:04:09

Thank you for the hugs and kind thoughts and Brook’s generous offer. ❤️ Still no progress, the earliest power might be restored is tomorrow (Weds) evening. We are so lucky to have somewhere warm to stay and I am appreciative but I just want to go home! I’m such a home body, I want my own bed and to cook a meal in my own kitchen.

Cornergran that’s shocking behaviour on the other person’s part. shock It says a lot more about them than it does you. flowers

Jaxjacky Tue 30-Nov-21 18:49:34

I really hope your situation has improved SueD, I really can’t imagine how horrid that is.
And corner words can be like barbs pricking us, I’m confident your day today has raised your spirits ?.

Three drives done today, grateful clients, a much milder day, but so dark and dreary.
MrJ is cooking dinner, I like it when he does that!
Love you and leave you x

soop Tue 30-Nov-21 17:05:02

Dear Sue, it's one buggeration after another weather-wise. So sorry that you have needed to bin the contents of your freezer and fridge. Big hug from me to you.

brook2704 Tue 30-Nov-21 11:53:42

Oh my goodness SueDonim that’s an awful situation to be in. I did see the dreadful news last night and wondered how you were doing, I really hope you get the power restored very soon. You’re probably too far away from me in Inverness for me to offer any help but the thought is there anyhow - thank goodness you’ve got family nearby to help out.
Sorry to hear you’ve been upset cornergran it’s so unsettling isn’t it. Sending warm hugs and hope you feel better soon ?

Yiayia4 Tue 30-Nov-21 11:23:55

Hope you get sorted very soon SueDonim?
Thinking of you Cornergran?

muse Tue 30-Nov-21 11:18:49

My heart goes out to you cornergran. Intimidation is the worse kind of insulting behaviour. I find it the hardest kind to get over but we do. Hope you are out of that dump now ?. Give MrC a ?too. I've felt a wimp at times but there's no shame in turning your back on such rudeness.

Following your news soop and I'm sure the fundraising site you and MrS have chosen will answer those queries you have.

muse Tue 30-Nov-21 11:01:55

Thank goodness for all the local support SueDonim. I saw that news article maddyone. It reminded me of all the support we got in rural Cornwall during the first lockdown, some of which we still get.

I hope normality comes soon SueD and you slowly get the freezer stocked up again.

muse Tue 30-Nov-21 10:55:33

What amazing photos Grannmarie, Safe journey home. You're bring back lots of fantastic memories.

maddyone Tue 30-Nov-21 10:49:20

cornergran flowers

maddyone Tue 30-Nov-21 10:48:19

SueDonim I do hope your situation is sorted out very soon. I saw a care home on the news last night and thanked Gid that my mother is in a warm care home, despite the Covid. Those poor old ladies, all tucked up with blankets. And I saw a wonderful man who works on a fair and he took his generator to one care home, so they’d have electricity. All the bad we hear about day after day, but here’s proof of the good in people.

Blossoming Tue 30-Nov-21 10:24:28

Good morning dear Kitcheners, it’s a lot milder here this morning but it’s so grey and damp and misty it still feels cold.

What a dreadful situation SueD, people shouldn’t just be left to cope with that. Glad you have found somewhere to stay.

Cornergran we shouldn’t let nasty rude people upset us, but that’s easier said than done flowers

gillgran Tue 30-Nov-21 10:08:39

Suedonim, what a rough time you're having, I do hope you (& others in similar situations) get sorted & put to rights soon.

cornergran, sorry you've been upset, as you say it's "onwards" now. I echo Nannytopsy's thoughts, I'm afraid that I tend to get unsettled by things, (I think, more easily during tough times).

I trust that soop has a forward step today.

Warm & caring wishes for you all.

Bellanonna Tue 30-Nov-21 09:47:39

SueD I don’t often comment in here but your situation made me wonder how on Earth you, and others affected, actually cope, Because you have to I suppose. To be without power in the recent cold snap must have been awful. Thank goodness for a coal fire and one lucky family member was able to purr his/her way through it. I hope you get some action very quickly.

Nannytopsy Tue 30-Nov-21 09:23:52

SueD it sounds awful in your neck of the woods - every best wish for you. Corner I get to over thinking when something like that happens. I try now to look forward, not back.
Cloudy but warmer here today. Well, a bit warmer!

Grandmabatty Tue 30-Nov-21 07:55:53

Cornergran my sympathies. I'm always taken aback by rudeness because I'm never rude. I find I don't deal with it well and then think of the best retort afterwards. Try not to let it unsettle you, easy to say I know.

cornergran Tue 30-Nov-21 07:47:59

Goodness sue my heart goes out to you and everyone else struggling in the same way. It’s more than disappointing no help has been arranged by now. I’m relieved you have somewhere warm to be although you must be exhausted. We’re totally reliant on electricity, frighteningly so in my view. I hope you can rest a bit today.

Can I just have a moan, please? Bit down in the dumps here. An encounter with a very rude person yesterday has left me unsettled. I don’t appreciate being belittled and my wishes ignored. I’m surprised and disappointed at myself as I realise people rattling me in this way upsets me far more than it did. Mr C is upset that he couldn’t intervene, as he's lost lost a hearing aid he couldn’t understand exactly what was being said. Hey, ho. It will pass. We plan a Christmas focus here today which will cheer me and there are much worse things for folk to cope with, I’m just being a wimp.

Onwards now. Wishing you all the best day it can be.

Grandmabatty Tue 30-Nov-21 07:30:37

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation Suedonim. It seems you have been let down by your local council really badly. When something similar happened in my mum's council, the power company delivered heaters as it was only gas that was affected. We are very reliant on electricity which worries me a bit. I hope it is sorted soon for you.
